He has made 12 All-Defensive teams.

Only player in NBA history to have done so

He'll get 13 next year.

I think this puts Duncan solidly into the "Top 10 NBA players of all time" debate.

In my opinion, he was already in that debate 3 years ago.

If Duncan were patrolling the paint, I wouldn't dare enter into that vicinity!

If Tim Duncan was patrolling the paint I would double dog dare you to go in there.

Since I am only 5' 8", if Duncan were in the paint, I would settle for a jump shot (and hope that Bruce was not dogging me like a fly on sh**).

I love it, however I've got a question for you guys. A few months ago when the finals mvp trophy was renamed after great Bill Russell, If my memory doesnt fail me he was interviewed and one thing he said was that players in these past 2 decades are not as dominant on the defensive end as he and his fellow generation players were. I mean, isnt timmy the anchor of our whole franchise not only because of his offense but most importantly because of his defense? Isnt he more dominant than D-Rob was?

He was speaking of players in general and I'd agree with him. But when he talks about Timmy, he always been very flattering.

Russell is very flattering to Duncan, he even told Duncan that he's his favorite athlete.

Did they ever show the rest of that interview? Did someone post it and I missed it? Or is that the entire interview right there cause that would suck. It just seemed like everyone forgot about it when we lost.

There's more to it, the rest hasn't aired yet. I haven't forgotten about it, I'm watching for it. I'll post it the minute it's out. It will also be on Spurs.com when it's released.

TD told Russell, how it was awesome, that the trophy was renamed. And followed it with how it was awesome for the award, not for Bill Russell. TD with the savvy.

Russell does Timmy one better when he recounts how Jackie Robinson's widow asked him to be a pall bearer for the funeral. He said of course but was curious to why, and she told him that he had been Jack's favorite athlete.

TD responds with a schoolboy "that's pretty cool."

And then Russell tells Tim, that "and you're my favorite athlete." -goose bumps-

Sandwiched in between two prolific statements TD's comment seems out of place but it's fitting because of who he is.

But this is also Timmy saying he will one more championship, with Russell's name on it to end the interview.

I believe him.

OK guys thanks for the acclaration, because the thing is personally I think Timmy is the best PF of all time, and saying like there are no great defenders made me wonder if timmy would be included. Oh and please as soon as the rest of the interview between him and Russel airs out, post please. Thanks

If Tim gets the First Team nod this season, he will move up to equal 2nd all time for All NBA First Team Selections with 11, behind only Karl Malone.

If he gets any All NBA Team Selection, he will move up to equal 4th All Time for All NBA Selections, behind Kareem, Karl Malone and Shaq.

He might be able to top that list once hes done.

He might be able to top both lists by the time he gets done.

+1

He still has 3-4 years to do it. He'll most likely play with more fire next season.

I hope the whole team does. The big two and GH were the only guys who brought it.
