View Full Version : I think I'm going to sell off 90% of my possessions.

Not that I have a ton in bills but the thought is crossing my mind to just unload most of what I own. I suppose I'd keep some furniture, my TV, XBOX, the beds, select clothing and one vehicle. Then sell the rest and start over. I wonder if I could raise 10k by selling off most of my possessions. I've got to do more with my days, I can't continue to work here. I hate the job, my co-workers and the customers. Seems like the quickest way out is if I raise some funds to do my own thing.

Basically that's my only motivation. I hate it here and I'm willing to give up 90% of my possessions to get out. I literally count down my watch every 30 minutes. From about 10am on I go, 7.5 hours until I can leave then 7 hours until I can leave, 6.5 hours until I can leave, 6 hours until I can leave....all the way down to the last hour of the day and then I try to leave early. I don't see how I can continue to work in a place where all I ever do is obsess about when I can leave. Life is too short to be this miserable. I can't stand the people I work with and the redundancy of how my days lay out. I spend more time avoiding people here then I do working. However I'm not willing to leverage the well being of my family to selfishly walk away without some kind of legitimate option.

I think this weekend I'm going to take inventory on my life. I can then start by selling my two other vehicles. It'll probably be depressing to find at 32 years of age I've accumulated very little.

I'll wait here calmly for the whine patrol.

Really? I need a car. My Daily Driver is about to fall apart.I daily drive it right now. The car runs great but it needs attention. No AC and no stereo. The car is best suited as an occasional driver. Its good enough to daily drive but is more of a perfect car for a project. I was planning on selling it for about 6,500.

You're still young so I say GO FOR IT! I didn't start working for my current employer until I was 34.

I recommend that you go back to school and get a degree in a field that you can leverage into a good job. Put your wife to work in the meantime.

Quit today. Walk out. You are a miserable human being. You don't make money selling RV's man. I thought I read on here you have not sold one in a month anyways. Go get a couple of jobs if u need too. Sell hamburgers if you half to make ends meet until you figure out what you want to do. Sitting around doing nothing all day (except entertaining people on ST) is not a job. Fucking do it now. Make a big fucking scene if you want to or just walk out quietly. Go home. Fuck ur wife. Call every friend you have and ask if they know anyone that is hiring and you will do anything for a few months. Go to a recruiter. Apply everywhere and get out of this dead end life you have created.

Might be if I go another 60 days dry but its not an issue right now. Yeah it has been slow and yeah I haven't sold anything for about a month so thats true. Selling RV's isn't the main issue. I just hate working for/with these people in this place.

I know I'm going to quite. Not today probably not tomorrow. Sometime in the next year or maybe post liquidation we'll see.

The vehicles are also for partial trade. I need a cargo van Ford or Chevy preferably 3/4 ton. Under 60k miles. So if anyone knows of one for sale. Let me know.

B2B, I know what you're going through. It's why I'm back in school and I'm older than you with 2 very small children. It's scary to look around you and think you might not ever be better than this. My kids were my motivation. They deserve better than I can give them now. You can go back to school on student loans. And if this is just a bad mood you're going through (I have those, too) remind yourself you have a good spouse, healthy kids, a roof over your head, beds to sleep in, clean water, and good food. The poorest American is better off than about 70% of the world's population. I know that sounds like one of those stupid cliches, but I really do remind myself of that whenever I start to feel overwhelmed by our bills. Good luck to you. Keep your chin up.

I'm trying to do my thing after 15 years of banking. I'm in the process of being laid-off as of this month, so I started looking for stuff to do. Given the state of the economy and of banking in general, I have a number of friends in the same situation. Therefore, we started a partnership where we all bring ideas to the table and we decide to develop the best ones.

We are starting to projects in the agricultural space in the coming months and we are looking at two real estate developments. I hope these investments/jobs are enough to maintain the familly, which is growing in September, so I don't have to go back to work in the corporate world ever again.

Luckily my wife still has a decent job, but she is also getting fed up of big corporations . . .

Nice ideas. I'm in the middle of my minimalist period, but I had no debts or kids or anything like that, so it was a lot easier to make that move. I'll probably go back to some kind of grind at some point to ensure some more financial security for my significant other. My current scheme has couple of ways of achieving that, but the timetable is pretty vague and I don't have enough control over the situation to change it.

Best of luck on getting back to basics.
