View Full Version : Game 3: Lakers @ Rockets

Is the Rockets offense worse than the Spurs offense?
I mean Houston has a lot more offensive talent than the Spurs yet they are putrid on offense.
Spurs have actual playmakers in Tim, Manu, Tony. If the Rockets had a Manu or Steve Nash it'd put them over the top because their talent would actually be used...or haveTim Duncan replace Yao and be surrounded by Shane, Lowry, Landry, Artest, Scola....:wow:wow
Instead they are doomed to be offensive retards.
Tmac just went through the motions when he was their playmaker...when they needed him to have killer-instinct he was either a no-show or brought out on a stretcher...
I don't see any playmakers in Brooks, Artest...and Yao is used in spot minutes at best. He doesn't command double teams because all they have to do is front him and their coach doesn't know how to adjust to that. :lol
Houston offense is pretty much dicey and erratic. Sometimes they play smart and go inside out...other nights their offense is mainly generated through athleticisms from rebounds and the ability to make defensive stops....

It was the 17 turnovers that beat the Rockets, but not the Lakers.
Yes, the Lakers defense is so spotty and unreliable that the game was still within reach with 1 minute left....:lol

That foul reminded me of the Ariza foul on Rudy. Good Hard foul but the landing was the awful. IMO 2 shots, end of story.

The Lakers definitely have all the momentum now. The Rockets should have beaten the Lakers in game 2. That would have helped them a lot but they didn't and the Lakers now have a 2-1 lead in the series. It wouldn't surprise me if the Lakers win this series in 5.

This series wasn't really about you. If the lakers play to their potential they win. You were a supporting actor in this drama and you played your part well, but it's time to go home.

so what else is new?
but tonight, i don't think the refs are to blame for the Rockets loss.
I agree, the Rockets sucked tonight, and I ain't blaming the refs for the loss.
However, if Artest gets suspended for the next game, which is a must win for the Rockets obviously, then the refs are blameworthy.

We don't see them choking 20+ leads like u guys did.
Which is even more amazing how bad we are offensively to get 20 point leads.
Like last season in game 1 Spurs Vs Lakers. Spurs completely choked that one away. Nothing at all to do with the Lakers coming back and winning it.
Spurs had no sleep and no rest and ran out of gas and Bruce was doing a freaking awesome job on Kobe until Pop decided to take him off and let Kobe get going.
Why is Artest not guarding Kobe?

Artest is the whipping boy of the NBA
Maybe Artest will come to the Spurs if the Rockets lose this series.
Pop won't let the refs pull shit like this. Artest, Bowen and Hill to throw at Kobe would be sweet.

The Lakers went out there and toughed it out and played a great physical game. Most importantly, they shut down Yao Ming once again and forced the rocket into some turnovers. They showed that they're still the best in the west.. Our season's over? No way! hahaha Kobe will not let us lose, as he showed tonight with 33pts, not overly impressive with fg percentage, but given the fact that he was being hacked all night and couldn't buy a call, not a big deal. He hit some clutch shots down the stretch!!
and WTF with that artest ejection!?? Wasn't even a flagrant. These refs are silly!!:lol

artest wont be suspended. the rule is since its a flagrant 2 it is up for review to decide the suspension its not an automatic.

werrrd. much respect for him to not get crazy and just walk off. hes a totally different man now.
Unless Adelman told him to hold that anger in and then later on will tell him to release it all. If there is a game 7 or something it could be a crazy game with Ron letting all that anger out.
Props to Ron though because right now he seems to have changed for the better.

To answer a further comment from another Laker fan about Kobe not letting you lose.
Maybe Kobe will not let the Lakers lose just like he did in 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004 and 2003.
You know Kobe just won't let you lose like he did in those years. He always comes though.
KOBE has a LONG, LONG way to go before he is on the level of Tim Duncan and Shaq. Even if the Lakers win this year that is not enough to put Kobe on the level they were when they were at their best.
I just don't get how ESPN has been able to somehow spin Kobe into the greatest player of all time in the last year and a half ;).

According to Houston radio, when PJ gets a lead in a playoff series, he's 48-1.
Game 3 was the pivotal game. It's over.

Nope. Bruce was as good as ever he just never got the court time from Pop because of his stupid new plan for more offense just scrap the defense. He may have lost half a step but he is still the best perimeter defender in the NBA. Who is better in your opinion?
And no Barea didn't go off of Bruce. He was almost a non factor when Bruce was assigned to guard him. It's not Bruce's fault this Spurs team was a mess this season. No organization whatsoever this season.

It's official, D'Antoni is a Laker Killer.
Heck, Paul Westphal probably could have helped houston last night. That was the most anemic offense I've seen since the 2008 suns. (actually I think even the Porter suns offense was better than that)
I'm impressed with Houston's D though, but playing great D is pointless if you can't capitalize on it. Seriously, this was the most painful game I've seen this year bar none. I literally stopped watching at the half. Not that I was pissed, but that I couldn't stand watching so much effort put into D being wasted away by the worst offense I've seen in a long time.
Another thing that was painful to watch.... Do either of these teams ever run set plays?
