That's what I'm thinking of getting my mom for Christmas. :)
I sent my mom tulips that came with a little box of Godiva.
For RG's mom, we pitched in for a rocking chair, which I know sounds incredibly lame, but RG's dad said that's what she really wanted.

How sweet, the rocking chair! A well made rocking chair can last forever and can a family heirloom. Good choice! We have a rocking chair at our house that I will make sure I get whenever the time comes.
My mom loved the ipod. I put a playlist on it before gifting it to her so she didn't have to play with adding stuff to it, so she just put on the headphones and was ready to go. :)

nothing, i think mothersday, as well as fathersday, valentinesday and all that crap, is bullshit. I dont need 1 dday to show my love for a person, or to do something for that person. I'll do it everyday, when i feel like doing so. this is just commercial bullshit

My mom was crying by the end of that she was laughing so hard. The part where they're nose to nose is priceless. Andy is looking down at the ground...not even trying to look at Justin's eyes. Fabulous.

A card, flowers, and a pint of her favorite ice cream so she could indulge.
It's gotten to the point where there's nothing I can buy my mom that she needs. So I just focus on things that have sentimental value.

I got my mom a Southwest Airlines gift card so she can put it towards her and my dad visiting this summer, and then I made her bread pudding with a hard sauce from scratch that afternoon.

I put together a gift box of glycerin soaps and custom scented scrubs/washes from a local store that my mom has loved since she went to school here in the 70s. It's like a small hippie version of Bath & Body Works.

A hanging plant and a card. I also cleaned her kitchen from top to bottom and washed her truck. She loved the plant and card and really appreciated the clean kitchen and truck (she has arthritis and a degenerative disk in her back so housework is difficult for her these days). More importantly, she was happy to have me at the house just to visit.

I bought my mom and Bo's mom both a card and a vase.
My mom's vase is a minature one that you can attach to a window or mirror- perfect since she will have to pack it in her suitcase to take back to China.
I also gave Bo's mom a Spurs visor and a small inspirational book about mothers.
