Is there a point at which Stern and the owners would consider shortening the regular season to prevent injuries to premier players that lead to playoffs with diminished drama?

I know this is sacrilege to traditional owner thinking because it would cost them the gate receipts, but does there come a point where they lose more by playing these rounds without some of the league's great players?

If there is such a point, are we there now? Close?

I really don't know but would like to hear thoughts.

Of course. But realistically any change would come at the very end of his career and wouldn't have an effect. Those 12 or so seasons plus long postseasons have come and gone and can't be changed.

But overall I'm curious what people think about this. We'd all probably prefer a shorter season (I'm assuming none of us are owners) but we all know the owners are really reluctant to part with their gate receipts.

At some point though there has to be more lost by the injuries than gained by the gate. I'm wondering where that point is, if we're near it, etc.
