"It's inevitable. Every year, the officiating becomes a big part of the NBA playoffs. It rarely happens in any other league, and that should tell you how horrible the league is about creating consistency with its officiating crews."

Worst call ever? Has to be the call that cost the Mavs the championship in game 5.

I mean fuck, we're talking about a world title here and a guy gets a phantom whistle with 2 second left?

let me handle this one, Spur Fan.

Dumbass, the worst call ever was every single call in the Mavs-Spurs series before the Mavs choked against Miami. You only got the opportunity to choke in the Finals because the refs handed you a series win against us

Ghazi, you really do need to get over this thing bouncing around in your skull where you still think the Mavettes should have won the 2006 championship. The fix was when Manu got called for the phantom foul on Dirkie. The Spurs would have swept the Heat, Garonteeeeed. But, that is in the past. We went on and won another title while the Mavettes continue to wallow around in their own tears. As long as little BIG Mouth, Markie Cuban, owns the Mavettes, God will never allow them any real chance of a title. Something about Markie being the Devil. At least he looked like he met up with Da Devil on Saturday when Carmelo's last second shot went in the hoop. I thought he was going to puke on National TV.

The call Josh Howard made to take the team's last timeout while Wade was at the line?

It's the article that's posted at the top, but here it is again: http://budurl.com/worstNBAcall (http://budurl.com/worstNBAcall)

Here's an excerpt:

"Well, apparently, in the final 10 seconds, when one team has a foul left to give and wants to use it for strategic advantage, there's another set of rules: draw blood or the refs won't blow the whistle... unless you're Dwyane Wade. then you have your own set of rules."

I also talk about the 2002 Kings and the Derek Fisher non-call on Brent Barry. Check it out!

Cool site...you need to fix this entry, though:

2008 - Brent Barry is clearly fouled when Derek Fisher lands on him in the final seconds of Game 4 of the Western Conference finals. Barry, an excellent free throw shooter, should've gone to the line for two shots to possibly tie the game. No foul was called and the Spurs won.

The Lakers won that game, not the Spurs. Had the Spurs won that game, nobody would care about the non-call. :lol

Pretty bad call. This series should be all square instead people are talking about the Nuggets going to the finals beating either the Rockets or Lakers. Dallas or the Nuggets could beat the Rockets if they upset the Lakers. Pretty big fucking call.

I hope the Spurs make it further into the playoffs next year to defer their attention elsewhere and stop being so obsessed with another team. It's sad. And it's ironic how spur fans talk shit to laker fans on this site about the exact same thing.

obsessed with another team? dirk..please don't flatter yourself. We pay attention because we actually give a shit about the NBA. And what do you expect? Dallas beat SA and all the Mavs fans proceeded to bash Spurs fans, even after we said congratulations. You don't expect Spurs fans to be going against the Mavs? You'd be hoping for us to lose too, so get off your high horse.

Someone hasn't read the nba forum since last night when Dirk took a hot shit on the Nuggets. And I'm pretty sure OV has taken the next week off so he could spend all that time blaming the refs for last night but not game 4.

Astonishing attempt at a correlation there. Unfortunately for you, you are wrong. My comments were not made with round one in mind. You lose, loser.

You know I was quite disappointed that there was no replay of Martin's last foul. Did anybody see one? I know the whistle was blown pretty late, but they never showed it again during the coverage.

Even if no foul had been called, there's no telling if Denver would've scored on their next possession anyways. Dallas actually did a pretty good job of getting stops late in that game and just were the better team in the final minutes. You can't argue that.

Plus, if you eliminate the free throws, and Terry makes his last one instead of intentionally missing it, Dallas is still up one with less than a couple of seconds on the clock and no timeouts for Denver.

Dallas actually did a pretty good job of getting stops late in that game and just were the better team in the final minutes. You can't argue that. being handed freethrows on 3-4 consecutive posessions in the last few minutes for phantom fouls does not make the the 'better team'.

Plus, if you eliminate the free throws, exactly,if you 'eliminate all the freethrows', dallas loses. and Terry makes his last one instead of intentionally missing it, Dallas is still up one with less than a couple of seconds on the clock and no timeouts for Denver.

Poop,

I'm only hearing arguments on the very last call. I'm not a Nuggets or Mavs fan. The other calls looked legitimate. Maybe if the Nuggets attacked the basket more at the end of the game instead of hoisting up prayers to beat the shot clock, they would've gotten some calls.

Denver actually took one more free throw than Dallas in that game, overall. And again, stopped attacking the basket in the 4th quarter, which explains the 4th quarter disparity.
