I was looking at the philosophy thread and it led me to this question: does the good in the onion outweigh the bad of the batter?

For some reason, my favorite rings come from Jims.

:tu What a coincidence, I was just thinking about onion rings. I got some fresh onions from my in-laws garden, was thinking of making some onion rings. :D Beer battered onion rings?

I like the ones from EZ's but I make some bad ass ones at home. I also use that onion flower gadget. :tu

What they do to french fries completely undoes any nutritional benefit of eating the potato in them, so I'd say the same principle applies to the onion rings.

Their chicken-fried steak is outstanding; by far the best I have ever had. Their fried chicken is also excellent.

They are super-thin cut ... the way I love them. You can order them as an appetizer and they bring a gigantic mountain of them for everyone to share.

Very, very good. :)

onion rings: great

chicken fried steak: good, but overrated, IMO. I recall it being tough.

Another Tip Top, I would go there more often if it weren't for the lines always being out the door.
