Didn't see one posted so figured I'd get it started.

BOS should win this easy. Their confidence will be sky high after Game 4.

18-8 run at the end of the 1st quarter by Orlando. Orlando missed quite a few open threes as well. They could easily be up ten points right now.

celtics missed tons of easy shots as well....

Ten rebounds for Howard already and there's nine minutes left in the second quarter.

TampaDude
05-12-2009, 07:52 PM
Announcer reverse jinx on Ray Allen...right after they put up the stat that Allen had missed 11 3-pointers in a row (longest playoff drought), he nails a huge 3. :lol

Jacko
05-12-2009, 07:52 PM
If the Magic play like THIS they won't lose another game to BOS.

Stop shooting dumbass 3's. Attack, attack, attack. BOS has absolutely NO shot blocking presence outside of Perkins who is clearly playing hurt.

TampaDude

While the Celtics have good depth, it's clear that they really miss KG.

LnGrrrR

So I've been in night class and missed the first half. Why's Boston losing? What's been the flow of the game so far?

LnGrrrR
05-12-2009, 08:18 PM
Yikes...35% shooting sure as hell doesn't help. Good Orl defense, or shitty Bos shooting?

Jacko
05-12-2009, 08:18 PM
Looks like ORL finally got a clue and stopped chucking 3's and starting attacking the paint.

We'll see what adjustments BOS makes coming out of the half. I don't expect the Magic to be able to waltz into the lane as easily as they did in the 1st half.

That's how they killed Bos in Game 3. I'm surprised they haven't done it more. Celtics get on a rally when they force Orlando to the outside to jack up 3's; this also causes the rebounds to be a bit farther out so Howard can't just get putbacks under the rim and dunk.

Honestly, if Orlando attacks, there's not a heck of a lot Boston can do. Maybe Boston can just sign some free agent for the extra fouls? lol

Celtics are shooting 37% and Orlando has "only" 9 points ahead... hummm

timtonymanu
05-12-2009, 08:25 PM
damn Magic are so annoying with their obsession with the 3. Reddick can get a better shot on a fastbreak. Instead he jacks up a 3.

05-12-2009, 08:31 PM
The Magic should be ahead by more. The Celts shooting less then 40 percent and they are still in the game. I wonder if Orlando will even win this series. They had a chance to go up 3-1 in Game 4 and blew it. You can only give Boston so many chances before they beat you.

Why the league focuses on fucking petty things like toes on the three point line or traveling instead of its shitty inconsistent officiating is beyond me.

ORL's defense has been stellar. That's what is winning them this game.

some people started proclaiming paul pierce a top 3-5 player last year. SOME people.

kinda dum now imo

I'd put him top 10... last year. You can tell this year he doesn't have the legs. He needs to rest up in the offseason. The last 20 games or so without KG he played all out, expecting KG to be there during the playoffs to help lighten the load.

You could really tell it in the Chicago series, where he was getting blocked by guys that had no right blocking him. He just couldn't get the separation off the dribble for shots, and his elevation was lacking.

These playoffs he's been playing at about 60% his normal self, and he turns it up to 80% when they really need him. I don't think he can go higher than 80% right now...

I care, it's half the answer to a non LA/Boston finals.

LnGrrrR
05-12-2009, 08:49 PM
Still anyone's game, but Celtics have to keep pounding the paint. If you look at the ESPN Gamecast, you can see that the Celtics have been scoring more in the paint since the start, and the Magic less. That's the only hope the men in green have.

rayray2k8
05-12-2009, 08:52 PM
Not a good shooting night for either 2 teams.

LnGrrrR
05-12-2009, 08:55 PM
Not a good shooting night for either 2 teams.

Actually, Orlando is shooting a decent 47%, and a less-respectable 33% on 3's.

Boston is shooting an abysmal 37% and a horrific 25% on 3's.

Edit: Make that 23.1% on 3s'.

Def Rowe

What's Boston played like 200 games in the last year and a half? That's gotta take it's toll on the big players.

Jacko
05-12-2009, 09:00 PM
The Magic are an interesting team.

In the 1st round they played like idiots for the 1st couple of games and then figured out what they needed to do and eventually won handily in the closeout game.

It's looking like they have finally realized the Celtics have ZERO shotblocking inside. Just P&R to death, get their bigs to have to move their feet, and the gaps will start to appear.

If Stan Van Gundy moves onto the ECF I think people will have to start giving the man his credit.

rayray2k8

I guess this is why they miss Jameer. He wouldn't have folded like Hedo, Rafer, and Lewis have thus far.

The NBA seriously has the worst officiating of any major sport.

It boggles my mind that Howard did not touch the ball until the end when the Celtics wanted for him to get the ball. Why did SVG fail to put in him when Boston started thier run is unexcusable.

They have displayed the most grit of any team I've seen in the PO. And they're getting huge contributions from unexpected sources. Dudes are stepping up, pretty impressive.

And Rondo not getting the 2 suspensions he deserved in the 1st round helped a lot too

When the Magic were up by 14 in the 4th, I told my wife "The Celtics will have the lead before the end of the game." She didn't believe me. Guess she believes me now. :lol

To be fair, I saw the following missed calls tonight, all in Boston's favor:

The 3 that should've been a 2.
The ball did not touch the rim.
The shot clock was clearly at zero before Ray Allen put up that shot near the end.
That should've been a jumpball at the end, not Celtics' ball.

That said, the Magic shot 6/23 from beyond the arc tonight...pathetic, especially for a team known for its 3-point shooting. If they had hit a few more of those, they win this game tonight.

Oh, well...Stern wants a Cavs-Celtics rematch in the ECF, and what Stern wants, Stern usually gets.

They're not fishing yet. :rollin

Oh, and if we do make it, all I want is for us to take ONE game away from the Cavs, and I'm pretty sure we could do it. Even if it will take KG limping out from the bench to play a game.

KG isnt coming back. Our stupid organization fucked up the whole situation about them holding him out when in reality he wont be a factor if he does return. I admire the heart these fucks are showing.

Wtf is he supposed to say?

"Well, it was a good game, and we were lucky to beat a team so much better than us. Hopefully we can get another lucky game, maybe some help from the refs again, so we will have the extreme fortune of getting blown out by double digits by the Cavs. Oh and Lebron, if you need a massage, you know my number, give me a call."

Okay...I went back and watched Ray Allen's shot again...looks like he JUST got the shot off in time...and that shot did hit the rim...you can clearly see the ball change direction.

The other shot that the refs said hit the rim DID NOT...it brushed the net well below the rim...that one was not even close...that call was laughable. It also took away Orlando's last really good chance to take the lead before the intentional fouling started.

I hate it when an otherwise good game is spoiled by stupid calls right at the end. Can't we have an exciting, close game without bad refereeing??? :bang

Still 14 point lead with less then 5 minutes to go. How can you blow that?

Man! What a game. Sure, a late gift to the Celtics, but you can't pin the loss/ultimate fate of the game all on that call like the earlier Mavs/Nuggets game.

Your argument and reasoning don't cooperate. If you don't think the gifts the Celts got affected the outcome (which they obviously did), how can you say the call in the Mavs-Nugs game did? Plenty of things could have happened before that possession to change the outcome.

As soon as I saw the players complaining that the ball hit the rim, I just knew the refs would cave into pressure and make the BS call.

Young team, on the road, facing the defending champs...the Celtics started to get on a run, and the Magic just folded like a $5 lawnchair... :lol

There has been at least three non calls (one on a rasherd Lewis shot; one other on a Howard rebound; one oter on a Turkoglu shot) on fauls made from Boston players in the last 7 minutes...the non calls help a lot the coming backs.
On the other side, at the minimum touch it was a call in Boston favor.
I Understand they were playing at home and a little advantage in comprehensible...but that was too much.
Van Gundy and Magic players were clearly frustrated by the referees behavior.
So, I think, the neutral public (like I am...better like I was before this game...)
