Has Obama decided to keep Guantanamo Bay open? It's been 4 months. He did say he was going to close it when he became President of the USA. I hope he doesn't but he did promise. If he changed his mind and goes public with keeping it open I will certainly be proud of that choice even though he played with the far left folks to close it to get their votes.

Has Obama decided to keep Guantanamo Bay open? It looks like Congress will not authorize money for the closing.

Link, please? I hadn't heard that.
When Obama announced his intention to close Guantanamo, it was stated up front that it would be done over the period of time - a year, or maybe it was 2 years.

So, now that Reid's all but killed the idea of moving Guantanamo Bay terrorists to the United States, where are they going to go?
Obama says he still plans to close the place by January...so, what's he going to do with the residents?

Seems pretty stupid closing the place down if they are just going to put them in another jail. I thought I read it cost over 200 million "bones" to build the thing. We should start shipping over murderers from the states over there.

It's a fucking palace for terrorists...
The hot meals a day. Prayer mats with signs pointing to Mecca. A Koran for every inmate. Visits from the Red Cross. Exercise yard.
Damn nice for a terrorist.

If I were a terrorist, I might be.
I'd say they're lucky to be living anywhere.
In fact, I remember reports of some those who were released, actually asking to stay.

So, won't the human rights organizations throw a shoe if we move them from a state-of-the-art facility to some "shithole" we've never heard of?
Wasn't there a big stink over secret prisons and renditions and crap?
Are you condoning that practice now?

I am pretty masculine as you can tell from my macho post. Deodorant is a must. I worked in a pharmacy back in high school. A middle eastern dude walked into my work and asked me for some rectum deodorant. I was like what the fuck. I told him there is no such thing as rectum deodorant and there has never been. The towel head started cussing me out in all sorts of high pitches. He said he has been buying it from my store for months. I said "asshole, we don't have any, get the fuck out" He continue his rant. I had enough, I said "Do you have the container that it came in?" Started yelling YES, YES, YES I do and ran home to get it. When he got back I was like "dumbass thats a normal stick of underarm deodorant" Pissed off the idiot reads the back of the container out loud right in front of the customers. "TO APPLY, PUSH UP BOTTOM"

Guantanamo cell is better than freedom, says inmate fighting against release (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article2169795.ece)
Not the story I remember as this guy just wants to stay because he'll be tortured back home.
But, I distinctly remember a story of a released terrorist wanting to stay or be sent to America because the accommodations at Gitmo were better than he had back home.
Meh, call me a liar...I could just be misrememberin. Sue me.

In March 2002 he was flown to what was then Camp X-Ray at the US naval base in Cuba.
A military tribunal alleged that he had associated with the Taleban in Afghanistan and ruled that his detention was justified. But in February this year the US deemed him fit for release.
Mr Katznelson said: “Even though the Americans say he poses no threat, Ahmed fears that he has the stamp of Guantanamo Bay on him and he will be treated by the authorities as a terrorist if he is returned to Algeria.
“It is a bizarre situation because the reason he left in the first place was because the Islamist terrorists were threatening to kill him.”Funny you misremembered.
