NEW ORLEANS - The Houston Rockets' hopes for home-court advantage in the postseason may have been dealt a serious blow.

All-Star guard Tracy McGrady suffered a strained right hip in Houston's 81-68 victory over the New Orleans Hornets on Friday and is listed as questionable for the Rockets' game at San Antonio on Sunday.

While playing defense, McGrady jumped and landed awkwardly with just 3:19 gone in the first quarter. He was helped off the floor by teammates and went for X-rays, which were negative.

"Obviously, it's a big blow to us," said Rockets guard David Wesley, who scored 15 points. "We need to pick up his scoring, pick up his shots and pick up his rebounds. Then it becomes about focus."

Despite the victory, the Rockets trail idle Dallas by 3 1/2 games for fourth place in the Western Conference standings. The top four teams earn home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

boo hoo - Spurs without Duncan, Houston without McGrady. Let the battle begin.

Brent's MPG is up to 20 now, and will probably see a lot more minutes today.

Jon's MPG is 23, but with Tracy out or limited, we should see them both on the court more at the same time.

Brent's cooler, he has more hair! :)

But Jon's obviously the "hotter", more demonstrative player.

Will he "explode" today?

I wish TMac would play. The Rockets are 4-0 when Ryan Bowen starts. He is a great shooter on that team, and if SA does not pay attention to him or the relax w/o TMac in there, Ryan wil make them pay dearly.

I would rather have a weakened TMac any day.

I still don't see the Spurs winning against Houston. It'll be a tough game. We would need Manu, Tony, AND Barry to have good games and our big men to do some rebounding and defending on Yao.

I didn't understand why Pop put Wilks instead of Beno to start 4th quarter, was Beno stinking at that point?

Excellent game of Barry with 3 3 pointers in the money time. Manu led the team in the 4th as usual, and for once Tony showed more in the second half (5-8FG after the halftime).
Next game against Seattle will be very interesting.

Beno was struggling with cover Sura it seems....he made a couple of poor decisions when the Rockets made their run.

I actually like TP's line...he had 6 assists and 8 rebounds along with a few buckets in the 4th.....I like it when he passes the ball and gets everyone else involved early....I feel it bodes well in crunch-time and gives confidence in teammates to take the open shot.

In the 2nd and 3rd quarters the Spurs got tentative....got it back it the 4th.

With the game iced, the Spurs eased up the defense in the last minute, allowing a couple of easy buckets. Without them, the Rockets would have gotten by 64 or 66 pts overall, and only 8 or 10 pts in the 4th qtr.

Absolutely punishing defense.

As always, Spurs team defense was the difference maker, and it will have to be like that, esp until Tim and Devin are back. Excecllent "practice" for the playoffs.

The Spurs shots weren't falling for 2 qtrs, but the Spurs kept their cool, and their defense held until the shots started falling.

Spurs shot only 36% vs 43%, so how did they win?

I got to go to the game yesterday, although my seat had a drop down oxygen mask. Still, the seats were good enough to realize that Manu is the heart and soul of the team right now. That driving jam was unreal as was the clutch steal.

Also, props to Pop for outcoaching Van Gundy. When the chips were down in the third, Pop stuck with the bench while Houston peaked. When the fourth rolled around. Our guys were fresh, and Houston looked drained (of course, they also looked very very small from my vantage point).

Good game by Rasho as well.
