Since it's Easter and all...

Is it The Greatest Story Ever Told?

Ben Hur?

The Last Temptation of Christ?

Passion of the Christ?

Jesus Christ Superstar?

What sayest thee?

"The Gospel of John" - Totally scripture.

"The Passion of the Christ" - certainly the most emotional, although hard to watch during the flogging scene.

"Jesus of Nazareth" - The eyes of Jesus were penetrating but kind and loving.

The Passion was very gripping....however I just saw the move Barrabas from 1962, it was amazing on how it portrayed the murderer who was let go when Jesus was imprisoned. I was very impressed.

Passion of the Christ was a very powerful movie, no matter what beliefs you hold.

Yes, very true. I've heard lots of people have been impacted and very strongly moved from experiencing the movie.

I saw that Barrabas movie a long time ago...with Anthony Quinn, right? A lot of it was just guesswork and creative license but it was still a very interesting movie.

When I think of a Jesus movie I think of:

Jesus of Nazareth

The Greatest Story Ever Told

The Gospel of John

The Passion of the Christ

Jesus Christ Superstar is a musical, but at the same time, it's a powerful movie.

definitely the passion.

"Matthew" is just so different than other films. It's uplifting because of how Jesus is portrayed...

Then all of Solid D's picks.

You know what irks me though. The first go around with the Passion was fine. I went to go see it. I don't believe much of it, but I do believe most of it, and it's a pretty amazing story.

However, why the new cut that's in rerelease? Are those profits going to a charity? Because if someone is making more money off of it, then I think I have a problem with that.

They just made the new cut less violent.

They tried to make a copy that some Church's won't object to playing in a service or such. More family friendly...

All Jesus movies are bogus. Why anyone would sit through 3 hours watching somebody get a severe beat down is beyond me.

well, my church played the passion for us outside on friday right about sunset on a screen...uncut. very neat way to see the movie. wind started blowing same time as in the movie when he's up on the cross...

I agree. Mine had a showing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (to invite all the new Easter comers)...

All were the uncut version.

But some might be a bit more reserved and not willing to show an "R" rated film with graphic violence, no matter whom it's about.

I think that is somewhat silly, but I can understand it.

NYJ told me Ben Hur is a really good movie. I wanted to check it out.

I loved the Passion of the Christ. It was hard to watch more than once but it was very powerful. I was completely in tears.

Does anyone know if churches are being charged for these screenings?

I fell asleep during Ben Hur. I hope to give it another try some day, but I may have to have some AMP nearby.

That's a good question. I never even thought of that aspect.

I would guess not, but that does sound iffy.

My church didn't charge the viewers.

My guess would be that it goes to video and is sold just like any other movie.

I haven't seen the revised cut of it but I most definitely see the need for it. The history is clear that his treatment was harsh but it's just so hard to watch it for so long, especially for young and/or sensitive people.

I'd recommend seeing it though. It can change your outlook on things.

i wish i could make a billion dollars filming my own understanding of the death of christ our lord
but it is harder for a camel to pass through an eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven, so i've made my peace with it.
