View Full Version : How will David Stern feel if it's a Magic-Nuggets Finals?

I'm not saying it's a lock that the Nuggets and Magic will play in the Finals. It could still be Stern's wet dream matchup of the Lakers and Cavs. I'm just wondering how he would react if it was the Nuggets and Magic in the Finals this year. I think he would be on suicide watch because Orlando isn't a big market team and Denver isn't LA, Boston, NY. A Magic-Nuggets Finals would not bring in that much money and it wouldn't get the ratings and money that Lakers-Cavs Finals would.

bad?
Sad?
Poorer?
disappointed?

Really, it would be fine. Melo and Howard are supestars who would just bring more spice to the league. It is not as optimal as Kobe-Lebron, but it is certainly better than any other situation.

Does not matter, it is very unlikely that both teams miss the finals. At least one of the two make it.

vitamin water wont let it happen. money talks. look at this way. the lakers and cavs making it helps the economy. do you hate America? dont root against them for the good of the country

Stern won't allow it.

Kobe & LeBron has been pre-ordained by a higher power.

Would be nice to see that ESPN LeBron/Kobe special be in vane, but I'd rather see Lakers/Magic.....in the long run though, as long as the Magic get there, it doesn't matter that much.

IMHO both of these series are going 7 games.

I can see the Lakers winning at least one game on the road before this is done, same with Cleveland.

It would go far towards the credibility of the league.

What shocks me here is how many fans still see this game as defined by National TV ratings. This is a worldwide game. IF LAKER FAN would stop crowing long enough, people would take note that a Tween TV Show like iCarly actually beat the Lakers in ratings. It's not about national, it's about International, and that's what David wants.

Think of it this way, he gets a large 23 v 24 matchup should the favorites meet.
If it's the other way, Stern gets...America, Brazil, Lithuania,France, &Turkey.
What do you think he wants more? To get beat by iCarly again, or a NEW worldwide audience. Looking at the nationmaster data, there are over a combined 350 Million people in the countries of Brazil, Lithuania, France & Turkey. Let's say that only half of these populations watch TV. That's 175 MIL. US has 300 Million by itself, let's say it's only 25% that watch it, that would be 75 MIL. Take that and add it, you get 250 Million. That's a whole bunch of people.
It's not about just the National. It's a Global Game...by design.

A Denver/Orlando matchup is what I am dreaming of.

It's not going to happen. The powers that be will not let this happen.

I imagine Stern would look at such a matchup and think, "Neither of these teams are the ratings killing Spurs. CEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLEBRATE GOOD TIMES, COME ON!"

sons I think we all know that he will not be happy at all. this is simply not the plans that he and the WWE creative writing crew have developed. They have been pushing for "Kobe vs King Crab" for months now.
