View Full Version : Break the Bank - Get Boozer

Since Boozer is likely to opt out of his contract, I would seriously like to get him in a Spurs uniform. Not sure if there is anyway we can work something on with regard to the contracts situation.

Maybe TD and Manu can restructure their deals to get Boozer on board.

Oberto's salary is not guranteed for next season. Drop him.

Vaughn and Udoka can leave.

I'd rather have Boozer than Gooden unless Gooden comes cheap and wouldnt mind being a backup.

So we pay luxury tax or do some trades later on to get under the luxury tax situation just for this upcoming year. Then in 2010/11 our situation becomes a whole lot better and we still have Duncan, Parker, Boozer, Manu and surround them with cheap role players.

Boozer and Duncan becomes 2nd coming of twin towers. Scoring load on Duncan reduces greatly and Boozer can be focal point of low post game. Duncan focuses more on defense and occassionally can carry the load.

We improve our rebounding and low post defense in anticipation of the Lakers, Houston etc...

Boozer comes from Utah's pick and roll school so he and Parker can reek havoc. TD moves to center and stays there to extend his shelf life.

But Peter Holt aint never gonna buy into this even if Boozer is willing to come over.

Duncan and Boozer played together before. It didn't work out well at all.

Rather have Milsap as well....he plays harder and doesn't stop playing to yell and look at the refs when he doesn't get a call.

Theres no way possible that we get Milsap though I too would prefer him. Much younger as well.

There's actually no way possible to get Boozer either. Even if the Spurs wanted him and were willing to exceed the tax, they are limited to a max offer of the MLE. That's less than half the salary that Boozer would be opting out of. The only way the way the Spurs could obtain Boozer within the rules would be in a sign and trade. That would make no sense for the Jazz because the salary they would take back would seriously hinder their efforts to keep Milsap.

simply cant happen. manu and timmy cant restructure their deals. couldnt even if they wanted to (its not allowed). dropping oberto, vaughn, and udoka would mean nothing toward adding boozer (still far over the cap). there is just no possible way for us to acquire boozer via free agency.

only way even to make this a possibility is in a s&t, but then the only thing of value we really have (with a significant enough cap figure) is manu.

Mr. Plow is a loser

And I think he is a boozer...

For some reason, that song always comes to mind, every time I hear Boozer's name.

As someone who has seen Boozer play a lot in the last couple of years, as well as observed his actions concerning his team and off the court, I can assure you that Boozer is not nearly worth whatever large amount of money he ends up getting. The Spurs will not get him, and that's a good thing.

We can't "Break the Bank" for this because banks always require that the collateral is worth somewhere around 95-120% of the value of the loan. The collateral you are proposing is worth only around 45%.

1.) In no way is Boozer a tower.

2.) He's proved to be weak and over paid.

3.) I'm not a fan of under sized PF's.

4.) He's all about the money he isn't worth.

5.) Cost too much anyways.

6.) Untrustworthy

Boozer is too soft. People are noticing that about the Lakers, well Boozer is in the same category. The Spurs need someone who will bring interior toughness to the team, not to be some kind of cupcake.

Boozer is a very strong defender in the low post. I'd take him over everyone but Tim on our current roster.

I had a higher opinion of Boozer's defense going into last summer's Olympics, but he's taken steps backwards. This year his defense was unmotivated and soft, which describes a lot of his game recently. His work ethic was close to non-existent this year, which is surprising for someone who's potentially in a contract year. (That being said, he'll still get big $$$.)

I don't know aobut him getting big $ the way the economy is going I think he is going to be very dissapointed if he thinks he is going to make Timmy type of money.

Either way I would rather spend my money on a center and a SF then at Timmys position.

With Boozer injured, Milsap averaged around 17pts and 9 rebounds per game as a starter. Anyone on the Spurs not name Duncan capable of giving us that kind of production for the next 7+ years???

Boozer made Oberto look like a fucking All Star in the 2007 WCFs. He's strong, but being undersized, you can shoot right over the top. You don't try to back him down, you just wait for his inevitable boredom with defense, and flash into the lane for a quick pass and an easy hook or layup. If his defense were a type of cheese, it would be Swiss.

Boozer is a shot fighter and he throws too many don't hit me jabs (jumpshots), from what I saw this playoffs.

I could see D-Will visibly disliking Boozer more and more with each ugly hook fading away from the basket and warbled war cry.

Pshaw, I'd rather have AK.
