It's been widely assumed that Jason Garrett and Tony Romo wanted T.O. gone and got their way. T.O. finally said as much in a somewhat public forum: a Twitter reply to a fan who said he wasn't happy that the Cowboys cut the Original 81. (http://twitter.com/terrellowens81/status/1849753344)

neither ws i, blame the OC & romo!! but i'm happy 2 b where i am but i miss the other guys tht were & r true teammates!! (No, this isn't another Twitter impostor. There's a link to @terrellowens81 from T.O.'s official Website (http://terrellowens.com/), which unfortunately no longer features the rap classic he recorded after signing with the Cowboys.)
Gee whiz, why would Garrett (http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/11/could-to-have-picked-worse-time-for-fing.html) and Romo (http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/12/to-speaks-out.html) have wanted to get rid of T.O.?
Oh, and blame/credit DCFanatic (http://dcfanatic.com/2009/05/23/terrell-owens-blames-romo-and-garrett-for-release.aspx) for digging through T.O.'s tweet replies to discover this nugget.

Yeah..cause it wasn't his horrible ass attitude or bitching that he wasn't getting the ball enough, even when he got the ball more than anyone on the team...Glad you're gone...fucking drama queen.

It's been widely assumed that JG and Romo wanted TO gone, and it's been widely forgotten that most of the rest of the team, coaches and fans also wanted him gone. :lol

Garret is the one that should have left. Everyone started to figure out his schemes, and even with all the weapons, especially Williams after he was acquired, the offense was nowhere near its potential. I just hope they fire Wade, and hire Cowher after this season.

I agree with Garrett really messing up last year, but it wasnt all him. Williams was playing out of position and was still learning the playbook, and the defense didn't exactly always help, like in the Baltimore game. But I will say I have done a fair bit of T.O. defending, which now seems to be a moot point. The guy obviously is only out for himself, and it does seem like a breath of fresh air now that he is gone.

I defended the hell out of T.O....to the point where people made fun of me. But then I realized..the guy's a douchebag. Cares about nothing but himself..that doesn't help when it's a team sport.

Anyone ever stop to think: Where in the hell is T.O. going to have his Jersey retired?! He's burned a bridge everywhere he's been. Would anyone allow him to wear their hat entering the HOF (bracing myself for HOF debate)?

San Fran. I think he's made that public.

Jersey retirement or HOF-wear?

I'm willing to wipe the slate clean for everybody this year, but there are no excuses this time, for better or worse. I absolutely can't wait.

Becareful what u wish for. As soon as the Super Bowl was over the Cowboys were picked by Vegas to represent the NFC in next years Bowl. T.O leaves and they are picked to come in 3rd in there own division now.

I'd say that has as much to do with the fact that they failed to make the playoffs last year (with TO) as anything else. Remember also that the one time the Eagles got to the super bowl was when TO was hurt.

Actually, T.O. said he wanted to be a Cowboy in the HOF..doubt it will happen though.
