So far it's SLOMO,

The man came all the way from RUSSIA and endured many cavity searches along the way.

Trust me after 9/11? Flying is no picnic.

For This man to somehow not only make it to a GTG? that many like pooh and others who live in San Antonio take for granted?

The man was able to give kori a huge bottle of Pear brandy that could have easily brought down any plane in flight, It was 1 Million proof. I rather drink rocket fuel, and sing karaoke with Manny, Trust me I still can't have sex after drinking that shot LJ and kori gave us all.

How the Airport security let him past through? Is a mystery. He is truly KGB Material :lmao

Not to mention his Slovenian friends, and Beno fans. This year will be tough to pick that is why we need your help.

Unless anyone has someone they want to nominate besides them? If so, say so here, cast your votes now.
we also have best and worst Trolls and posters of the season also.

The Awards will be given at the last Spurs Talk GTG. No moderators are allowed to participate. deadline June 1st 2005

thank you for your Input.

bigzak25
03-29-2005, 02:04 PM
cast your vote here and now poland...

i vote herb, cuz i want him/her to show face at a gtg.

but slomo is a great choice and whottt has to be considered for his coyote takes alone.

slayer should get mad props for his vid contibutions as well...very nice.

so many knowledgeable spursfans in this forum to pick...but the cream rises to the top, so i have to go with tpark. his sarcastic takes never fail to amuse and he has done what no non-slovenian would dare...stand up for rasho time and time again...that has to count for something.

My vote goes to NBADan for singlehandedly turning the political forum into a high volume forum...at one point it was getting more posts than the basketball forum. This is not to say Dan has quality posts(unless you like fiction) but he does provoke responses with the best of them...

Also my thanks to those who recognized me :) there are many good posters here worthy of recognition, including just about everyone that has posted in this thread(except Tlong), but what Dan did with the political forum was pretty amazing...and a cut above anything done by another poster this year...

Jimcs50

Honorable mention

CyberBog for showing me how to drink a real Bloody Mary
Chris Duel for his advice on Stand Up, and for the ride home when the Eagles choked after the Suppa bowl.

Jeff Vexler for showing me how you can take the ball over 5 straight times at Kori's baskettball tournament and not pass it once, and still be cool with the rest of the team. being a Sports talk radio host has it's perks :smokin
BigSnack25 for taking me to the Gtg's and bringing over a 12 pack of beer for Easter, even though he ate all the hot wings I stole from kori's GTG.
Lakerlanny : for getting many of your goats

IamInlakerland : for traveling from LA to go to a GTG

Jim50 for his cash loan to T park

Taco , RocketMan, and ZStomp For having the balls to go to Kori's GTG even though they post at SR they did not care, major racks...
User666: for his smack talk at the Gtg's
Ducks for his wit and humor
GayABC for not hiding his Gayness, that takes guts also.
Grande David: for traveling from Brazil
HerbAfemale for stirring the pot the most.
Joe Chalupa: for his other funny screen names that mouse gets blamed for, a lot....:lmao

Get-together

Oh, and just getting back from vacation, I've been way behind on my reading here. Just got to read "Seeing More of the Bright Side", and it's official:

FWD has my vote for poster of the year. As always, intelligent analysis backed up by thorough research. His posts should be required reading for everyone on this forum.

Solid D
03-29-2005, 06:23 PM
Thanks for the kindness, folks.

Besides Kori and timvp (obviously), I've always liked Chopper. He originated the SPAM movement and that's worth some extra points.

Poster of the Year (2005), though, I'd have to give to Slomo for building the bridge over the Atlantic (really the 7 seas) in such grand style.

Special recognition to the moms in here like Shelly and SpursWoman for taking the time away from their own kids to attend to the "kids" in this Forum.

Honorable mentions:

AHF - This guy is relentless. You better not be a Barry hater.
Slomo - Its all been said. Plus theres the Spurstalk banner thanks to this guy.
Whottt - Quality posts about everything that makes sense, and a certain love for Shane Heal :)

Big Ups to Kori and LJ for running the site as well.

I appreciate the spattering of ol' skoolers who thought of the Chopper. I haven't been around enough to evaluate the young fellas or to make an impression on them either I suppose.

My nominees are the folks that I know and love around here, ol' skoolers just like me. . .

Solid D -- I'm almost as proud of the fact that I suggested his title be "Mr. Dignity" as I am about the whole SPAM thing. I read a Solid post and I'm either laughing or informed, but regardless I'm always impressed. He's kept me in check on occassion back when I had time to "go off" on a tirade every now and then. I'm sure he'd be one of my best friends if I knew him in the "real" world.

Shelly -- An amazing woman, you can tell. Great sense of humor. I would be her cyber cabana boy anytime.

Timvp -- At another site, many moons ago, there was this living legend named Timvp. He wasn't around a whole lot when I first got into the game, but when he'd make an appearance the clouds would open, the seas would part and a hundred naked women would throw rose petals at his feet. His posting was/is the stuff of greatness. I thought to myself, "for a fat white guy computer geek, Timvp knows a lot about the game of basketball (ol skooler inside joke)."

Jim. Anyone who can post 20,000 times in a little over a year while simultaneously performing root canals deserves a vote.

Kori. Voting for the owners of the site isn't kissing ass if you're a charter member, right? Kori knows her hoops. Combine that with that little angel voice and I've got my very own version of Chopper porn. . ."Kori Does Sportscenter". She could just read her version (not the national media version) of the latest basketball news on camera dressed in nothing but a . . . a. . .well I better stop there out of respect for LJ . . .and my pants!

TPark -- His passion has fueled a lot of my posting inspiration over the years but he's one of my favorite folks. He's got a good heart, that comes through. I kid him a lot, but I love him. . .and not in a GayABC kind of way.

Manny -- Another good egg. Passionate to a fault perhaps, but someone I definitely like.

Exstatic -- Not afraid to call out anyone. Incredibly intelligent. In the Solid D class of citizen.

Sequspur -- Dumbass. And everyone loves a dumbass. :)

My RIP vote goes to Admiral. My cyber brother who is here less than I am due to medical school. The best of the best.

Newbies Who Can Spell and Semi-Punctuate -- This is a vote for any of the new folks who post something I can actually read and understand. People who know the difference between "To" "Two" and "Too". Who know that a "site" is not a "sight". I give a big amen to coherent sentences.

Ducks -- For never posting anything I could read or understand.

Mouse -- A soap opera, comedy, one-man band. He is the one and only Mouse, plus a hundred other handles, and he's missed when he's missing.

Spurswoman -- Dating the devil is hard, but she makes it look easy.

kskonn

As a new guy it is kind of cool seeing everyones "true feelings" coming out. Most people like each other but still get at each others throats over any and every topic. It really shows the spirit of debate that is alive in this forum. Thanks to all of the old school guys for creating that atmosphere, it makes it a very unique forum experience.

As for Kori and Timvp, I thought that according to the rules laid down by Mouse Mods were not to participate in this. That makes a lot of sense to me since we all know who we would all vote for if it was allowed :)

P.S. Timvp that list is awesome! I haven't read that thread before and although I would have guessed most of the names on the list it's a good historical recap.

I thank Kori Ellis and Timvp to run this site in an open-minded way.

So add him to myu honorable mentions, always imformative and always bring a well though take, and I have yet to see anyone "win" against him in an argument

Give SeguSpur and LakerGod Co-Posterior of the Year Award (and no that is no mispelling, I am talking about a gluteus maximus award). Who cares about poster of the year - lets get someone some real noteriety. If I have to go with poster of the year it is Slamo all the way with AngelLuv as women poster of the year.

I will say a certain DuncanMVP has also made a strong late move for "the pruritus award" (i.e. befitting constant irratation). Mouse wins animal poster of the year award - how fitting. Kori wins by default and deservedly so Princess of the year. TimVP wins most consistent hard worker of the year for his grades.

I just re-read my own post and thought it was awesome. Therefore I'd like to nominate Kluby whose legacy allows us to prop ourselves with a forum word created for just such a need.

OK here is the update. The awards will be given for the following reasons....

Solid sports takes humor attitude GTG appearances posting when the spurs lose not just when they win, and talking smack w/o cursing.

Right now we have the list down to 50 posters, we are stuck on the top 10 list, This will be very close, Slomo might have to take 5th place.

You guys have until game 3 of the first round to make any impressions on the Judges.

The judges are 5 persons, two from this website , 2 from radio/TV and one person who is related to a Spurs player that only reads and does not want to be known just jet, I got an E mail from her last night, And let me tell you are going to freak when you find out who it is. I had to talk to her on the phone before I was convince she is who she said she was.

There are a few posters who have less than 20 post that are in the top 50 list so it's not just your post count. and this is not a popularity contest, you would be surprised on some of the persons selected,

All in All everyone who takes at least 5 minutes a day to visit this place is worthy of an award in my book,

Good luck see you after game 3 of the first round,

Unless by some freak of nature you don't make it to the playoffs... :smokin

Aw, c'mon Solid, where's the levity? :lol

Mixing Karate Kid and porn is always good for a cheap laugh. I always thought Mr. Miagi had a unnaturally close relationship with his pupil.

Do you have to post in the Spurs forum to be nominated? The Spurs are just so damn boring! I do some good stuff in The Club!

Seeing you like the dysfunctional, deteriorating Blazers exactly what fetish of the day club is that that you "Bring something to"? Yeh, Parker, Manu etc. are boring. Oh and the fundemental excellence of Tim Duncan is boring. All in your perspective.

I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for me. The Political Forum has succeeded because your opinions matter. Don't ever let anyone tell you different.

My vote for posters of the Year go to Kori and TimVP for putting up with me and the P.F. when I'm sure I was drawing more complaints per day than MFD.

The Political Forum P.O.Y. awards include Exstatic, From Way Downtown, Tommy Duncan, Clandestino, desflood, and NeoCon for their timeless effort.

NbaDan has my vote for political poster of the year also.

Honorable mention
CrazyOne for inviting me to his church, it rocks !

Shelly: for posting and showing up at the Gtg;'s even though she is a very old lady.
MickeyP and Exstatic for great spur takes and not shy to be the first to eat the GTG food.
