I hope they don't screw up the 1604/35 interchange when they add the lanes to 1604.

Get ready to pay more to drive on local highways, especially in north Bexar County.

The Regional Mobility Authority, which plans and builds toll roads in Bexar County, will tell Bexar County Commissioner's Court today that it plans to build ninety miles of new pay as you drive highways in the coming five years, 1200 WOAI news reported today.

RMA spokesman Tom Griebel says the goal is to increase road capacity.

"There are seven goals under which we are going to implement our toll road projects," he told 1200 WOAI's Bud Little.

The major toll road project is expected to be the two additional lanes of Loop 1604 across the north side. Others are expected to include expansions to Highway 281 outside Loop 1604, and improvements to the 1604-I-10 interchange on the city's far northwest side.

"Today we will discuss how we plan to proceed with the additional projects we plan to take," Griebel said.

He said the RMA will get direction from Commissioners Court on how quickly it plans to move on toll road construction, and what additional toll roads commissioners would like to see built.
