I do not think fans here have hear this news. I hear this news from my friend. He told me Tony Parker signed a contract with France's national team that says he will play every summer through 2012 regardless is tournament. Which means even like this summer qualifier just to have chance to play in European championship as France has not yet even qualified.

So I hope this is good news for all fans here since most of you are always wanting to hate any player that plays for his national team except for some odd reason you NEVER say anything about Americans plays for Team USA.

I don't think it is legal to sign a contract to go with the national team. You either accept their invitation or you don't. This sounds like a lie to me.

FRA - Parker signs letter of engagement with French

PARIS (FFBB) - Tony Parker has committed to play for France through the summer of 2012.

The San Antonio Spurs point guard met with Patrick Beesley, the head of the men's basketball team, and sports manager Crawford Palmer before a recent game against Cleveland and signed a letter of engagement.

Other players counted on by national team boss Vincent Collet will also need to sign the letter of engagement in the coming weeks.

France will this summer attempt to win the Additional Qualifying Round for EuroBasket 2009 in Poland.

They will go up against Italy and Finland in Group B, with the side that finishes top to take on the winner of Group A - Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium or Portugal.

An injury may occur game 1 of the NBA season, or never once for the entire time he plays for the French National team.

The chance of him getting injured remains the same.

Players don't only develop during the NBA season. All of life that occurs affects their growth.

If this additional basketball experience, accelerates Parker's peaking, then I'm all for it.

His career may be shortened in length, but he would be playing at his highest level sooner, more in sync with Duncan and Ginobili's window.

When Duncan retires realistically the Spurs are not contending for titles by building a team around Tony Parker.
He's an elite player but not a foundation himself like a Tim Duncan.
