You gotta have WC pride. Root for your conference. I'd root for the Spurs if they advanced. I'm quite sure the Spur players themselves would root for the Lakers, I believe Bowen was quoted last year as saying something to the effect of make our conference proud after Game 5 was over.

I can understand why Spur fans don't though because of what the Lakers have done to them since their franchise's inception.

To me, there is no such thing as Western Conference pride. If you play on a team outside of the Spurs in the Western Conference, with all due respect, screw you. Hell, I'm a Seahawks fan and I hate the Pissburgh (spelled like that on purpose) Stealers (also spelled like that on purpose) for their thievery of Super Bowl *XL, but guess what, when they were facing the Cardinals for the title last season I rooted for them like they were the hottest thing going. Why? Because I couldn't stand the thought of a team in my division winning the title outside of my team....just makes no sense. I've been for the Magic ever since they started to play Boston, but if it ain't the Spurs, it ain't nobody in my book. Regardless of the season your team had or how they ultimately lost, it makes your team seem that much more inadequate when ANOTHER team in your division/conference wins the whole thing.

Negative. This rule doesn't apply when it concerns rivalries. Lord knows I would never in a million years root for the Mavs either if they got to the Finals again.

This would be like a Cowboys fan (which I am) rooting for either the Giants, Eagles, or Redskins. I remember getting on a number of Cowboys fans for choosing to root for the Giants in the Super Bowl vs. the Patriots. I would have rather seen the Patriots finish 19-0, lol.

This also would be like asking a Packers fan to root for the Vikings in the Super Bowl and vice versa.

What team (other than the Celtics) has done more to the Lakers than the Spurs?

Like closing down the Fabulous Forum with a four game sweep in '99?

Or ending the Lakers' longest title streak on their home floor in '03 -- the first team to beat the Lakers in a series at Staples.

Or winning three championships since the Lakers won their last?

That said, the only team I would consider rooting against in a Finals series vs the Lakers is Orlando. The Lakers have done their share of harm to the Spurs, but they never tried to steal our franchise player with a luxury charter and a Disneyland trip. :)

There is no debate that the Lakers are a more prestigious franchise than the Spurs but that still doesn't change the fact that your superstar is an admitted adulterer accused of sexual assault. Call me old fashioned, but cheating on women is never a good thing. His wife was trusting enough to marry him even though he was a big NBA star and knew that women in other cities would be trying to get him to whip it out. Im with ya 50! I posted awhile ago, after the spurs lost I will be rooting for whoever is playing the lakers for many reasons which I've already written about over and over and don't feel like being a broken record. As for who I wanted to win the Cavs/Magic series, really a toss up, I wanted the team that would put up the best challenge, and after seeing the cavs supporting cast get exposed over and over I definitely think the magic will have the best chance. I got two benjis riding on this with LA fans/friends.

Going to be interesting to see what comes out, if the magic can take advantage of the lakers off-games unlike the nuggets did early in that series then they got a good shot....unless the lakers play every game like they did that close out game which would put the lakers easily over the magic...but that won't happen, maybe 1/2 games they play that good.

Anyways go Rashard, go DHoward/Drob v0.5, and shit even go turk you ugly mofo, ha. C'mon Magic, get it done.

I've never been married (only 26), but I have cheated on a g/f before. It's not always a calculated and malicious act. Sometimes it's just a matter of circumstance
Being as you have a mind (presumably, your posts here aside), yes, yes it is.

:lmao at the "DRob 2.0" thing. Except for the really-built-religious-nut thing, you'd be hard-pressed to find two centers less alike.

I was on board from even before Cavs-Magic series started.

Basically since the Spurs got knocked out I rooted for every team that played against Cavs or Lakers.

Not to mention I really like Turkoglu...

Go Magic!

Nah, the Magic just had Cleveland's number. A voodoo priest couldn't save the Cavs from failing in that matchup.

Last night I held Aladdin's lamp
And so I wished that I could stay
Before the thing could answer me
Well, someone came and took the lamp away
I looked around, a lousy candle's all I found

(BTW some killa sigs in this thread, just need paloma and the girl in the black thong that says Spurs)
