What does everyone think about the possibility of playing Memphis again in the 1st round?

Don't give me that pompous crap about how we'll walk all over them, cuz even when we rode that win streak into the playoffs last season, everyone was still nervous to see how the grizzlies would perform....to our favor they choked

But all i remember thinking that entire series was that the way the grizzlies got eliminated would leave a very bad taste in their mouths, and i instantly thought of the chances of us playing them again the following (this) season.

I think if we play Memphis again they're going to be out for blood.

It wont be a good matchup for us in the first round, i'd much rather play minnesota, denver, lakers, some team like that.
Memphis (and few others) are actually a team that gets very physical when they play us, and take pride in beating us. They're still inexperienced in the playoffs, but they're going to be mad trouble for us i believe.

I wouldnt be posting all this if duncan hadn't got hurt, btw, so im assuming he'll be back but not 100% by the time the 1st round rolls in.

If Gasol is healthy, that could be on of the toughest possible first round matches.

yup. Do you remember how memphis was playing to close the season out last year? Theres no doubt in my mind they could have eliminated the Lakers. Their D is very underrated.

This makes for an even more exiting NBA playoffs.Theres just a whole bunch of okay teams and good teams this year. As long as were at home for most of any series, we should pull it out. Memphis does want their revenge on SA.They will give us all we can handle with thier D.But, if it's Defense vs. DEfense, weve got it.

Is Gasol healthy? He had been coming off the bench for the last few games. But started tonight, played 31 minutes and had 24 and 8. He seems healthy.

Memphis poses matches for a lot of teams because they throw such a variety of different players out on the floor and nobody plays that heavy of minutes, so they always seem to have fresh legs available.

Pick your poison in the West, lots of good to great teams. Let it play out. Spurs healthy though fear no team period.

Man, the entire West is a headache this year! I was already concerned about Memphis, Phoenix, Houston and Seattle, but now with Tim going out I'm downright scared. Unsurprisingly, Tim's re-injury may well have destroyed a season that looked so promising for us... :(

At the moment, the first round looks like this:

Western Conference

(1)PHOENIX (1H) vs. (8)Denver
(Phoenix leads 3-0)

(4)DALLAS vs. (5)Sacramento
(Dallas won 3-1)

(2)SAN ANTONIO (1H/1A) vs. (7)Memphis
(Memphis leads 2-0)

(3)SEATTLE (1H/1A) vs. (6)Houston
(Series tied 1-1)

I see Phoenix beating Denver, but those other three series are wide open, even if Tim comes back (that ankle will be weak for a while - I know this well, have had a grade 2 and a complete tear within the last year!).

The bottom half of the West draw is a bitch this year. Outside of Sacto, I'd rather play any other team from the top half of the draw instead of Denver, Memphis, or Houston. Usually, a first round upset happens in the 4/5 matchup. This year, it could be any of them.

Yes indeed, Ex. Sacto and Dallas are the teams I'd most like to see us play, but they are unlikely matchups.

The West is a horro, and the East has only 2 teams... so what's new, I guess?

only dallas and sac look like easy matchups for the Spurs in the 1st round, maybe Pop should throw some games to let Seattle past the Spurs in the western standings

I am looking for Denver to pass Sacto and Memphis to get the 6th spot, and put Sacto at the 7 spot leaving Memphis for Phoenix.

Memphis will probably drop to 8th if not out of the playoffs before its done. Their schedule is brutal.

Sickdsm:

How fitting it will surely be watching a championship caliber Spurs team take it easy in a tune up game last day of season, but nevertheless will most likely be officially sending the Wolfpups off to their Fishin Hole! Hear the bass will be biting in the lakes of MN by that time! Pack your waders!

well, DEnver as of 3/30 holds #7 spot. :cry they won vs. Utah

I'm happy though, Suns would be facing a more dangerous opponent in Memphis than Denver.

I'd rather us get 1 seed and best record overall. If we are gonna win the title, the road shouldn't and isn't gonna be easy. We had to play TOUGH teams two years ago:PHoenix was a scary first round matchup. I dont think we will be able to beat Miami or Phoenix Without HCA. I just dont see it.

Phoenix Without HCA

A healthy Spurs team beats the Suns in Six.

Dont overestimate the freakin Suns.
