View Full Version : The 2009 draft will be known as the overhyped PG draft in several years

Here's a list of all the PG's in this draft people think are future studs but will be nothing more than role players in the NBA:

Stephen Curry - rich man's Eddie House
Ty Lawson - poor man's Raymond Felton
Ricky Rubio - scrub Euro douche with no future
Johnny Flynn - glorified Darrell Armstrong
Patrick Mills - rich man's JJ Barea
Darren Collison - won't be in the NBA very long

That's the future of all these overrated pussies that the Suns are probably gonna waste a pick on one of.

Curry has skills but is too small. If he can add some muscle to his frame without losing his quickness and touch, he can be a really good player.

I think Rubio will be solid.

Rubio's Baja Grill Fish Taco Tuesday > Ricky Rubio

Ricky Rubio averaged 10 points and 6 assists a game in Europe.....imagine how shitty he'll be when he's not playing against scrubs.

If the Knicks do pick Curry, though reports say they have cooled off on him it may be just smokescreen, he could really excel under D'Antoni. I think he shares more traits with Jason Terry than Eddie House. Curry can actually dribble the ball without having to look down and has some point guard instincts.

And I think Lawson will end up better than Felton.

Rubio has excellent court vision and playmaking abilities... great ball handling also... his defense is a little suspect and shooting is a big part he needs to work on.. but he's got tremendous upside and has played at a high level at a very young age... he will greatly improve in the nba I think.

A high level in Europe = a scrub level in the NBA

Darko Millicic played at a "high level" at a very young age boy that worked out well for the team that picked him.

Stephen Curry - rich man's Eddie House.

Cannot concur. House can't create his own shot. Curry can and will.

You're right, cause creating your own shot in college automatically means you'll be able to in the NBA.

Darko could have been decent had he not been buried to the end of the bench from Day 1.

And I think Lawson will end up better than Felton.

They're identical, over hyped, undersized UNC players with extremely overrated athleticism and speed.

Euro stats aren't comparable to the NBA.

Anyways, you're coming across really ignorant right now. Did you happen to watch the Olympics? Rubio was having his way with Team USA at times.

Worst case scenario for Rubio would be a much better scoring and defending version of Calderon. And that's worst case.

What he said... euro game really cannot translate to the NBA, especially when it comes to play-making abilities. In Europe where they they stereotypically pride on high basketball IQ, I believe ricky rubio has the abilities to become at least a decent starting PG.

Inconsistent with what you posted earlier when you said Lawson would be a "poor man's" Felton. I didn't say either wasn't overhyped or that either would be great. I just said I think Lawson will end up being better than Felton.

This is actually somewhat inaccurate. Don't quote me on this because this is only from memory, but Darko did not play in a top Euro league before being drafted. Moreover, he didn't even start much less "star" on the teams he played for. He wasn't playing at a "high level" before the 2003 draft. He really and truly was drafted based on measurables and potential, not for his actual in-game play. That was the huge gamble that became a much bigger mistake. The vast majority of scouts and anyone else affiliated with basketball that saw him agreed about his natural abilities and potential, but it wasn't based on actual basketball performance in games.

Rubio has actually excelled on the basketball court. Darko didn't really.

Brandon Jennings - Aaron Brooks or better
Ricky Rubio - At least better than Kirk Hinrich possibly as good as Billups

Rubio's biggest weakness to me seems to be consistently good decision making, if he gets that figured out, I think he will be good PG in the NBA. As for the others, Curry seems like he will be good, the kid can score, and has improved in his passing. I'm not real familiar with the rest.

And DUNCANownsKOBE why the hell would you make a thread saying crap like this if you aren't going to have any proof to back your statements up and you act like a little girl when people disagree? Do you just enjoy being an idiot?

Rubio is a smaller version of Sasha Vujabitch that can pass, with a set shot to boot. He wont last long in the NBA.

U mean someone else is stupid enough to finally agree with you:bang. You are very arrogant. You should spend more time looking up facts instead of trying to make 100 fact-free posts per day. Not only that, you make false assumptions and jump-to-conclusions before you know anything that is true. I said I THOUGHT rubio will have a better career than griffin and you act like I said rubio will be an automatic HOFer. DID I SAY THAT ANYWHERE?! Get you hands off the keyboard and onto a sports almanac. And take some anger classes, you hate on people and start shit all the time on these boards for no reason.

I don't think he played horribly, but if I recall correctly, it was more so Juan Carlos Navarro abusing Jason Kidd and Chris Paul and Rudy bombing three pointer after three pointer rather than it was Rubio doing anything much in that gold medal Olympic game. I'm pretty sure Rubio was pretty quiet in that game. I don't remember him "having his way" much at all against Team USA.

vujabitch cant control the ball and create plays for his teamates like rubio...
sasha is a much better 3 point shooter and defender(right now) than rubio... rubio is going to be a very good Pg, while sasha will be a ok role player at best. no comparison in my eyes at all...

you may of had a better chance at comparing him to luke walton now, when rubio was 13:lol

You really are arrogant. Thanks for proving my point. Was 42 my post count at the time or the # of consecutive posts for you that didnt include a single fact?
