This is the time of year when high schools across the country are hosting proms. They are supposed to be biggest and most memorable event in high school. However, I'm not very excited about it; maybe because I have no clue what's its like. I'm sure many of you have been to one. So maybe you can answer my questions:

Is it really that great?

Is there much dancing involved? (I don't like dancing; actually I don't think I really know how... :()

What is the best part about it?

What should I expect?

What type of tux would you suggest?

Should I pay for my date's tickets, eventhough we're going as friends?

Where should we go to eat before the prom?

high school prom = sex

I feel lucky that I was never suckered into one of these things. I was dating college chicks by the time I started my senior year. Still sounds like a big waste of time and money unless you have a real shot of scoring some much needed trim. If that's the case, rent a limmo, score some alcohol and give her your best moves.

May the force be with you.

I went to prom my freshman, junior and senior year and it was cool. I enjoyed it.

If you call her a "date", I would pay for the tix.

Where should we go to eat before the prom?
Somewhere decent, but not extravagant. No fast food, cafeteria style, or buffets. Table waitstaff service is mandatory.

I went to prom with a "friend" who was "Mormon".

In other words, I probably couldn't tell you what prom is like.

Freshman and Senior year a huge group of us ate at Texas Land and Cattle off I10, junior year we got stuck at Red Lobster cuz the fags at Magic Time Machine lost half of our groups reservations. FUCKERS. I was just gonna ask my date if she was down with eating some tube steak instead but I wanted to be a gentleman and buy her some dinner before we got nasty. :lol

Exactly. You say you're going as "Friends". If that's the case, You're not gonna be gettin any. "Gettin some" is what Prom is all about. Why waste that much time and money on a "friend"?
Bottom line. If she aint willin to put out, you're better off staying home.

Haha. So far most people have pretty much said prom is the equivalent of having sex.

3rdCoast
03-30-2005, 12:42 AM
It is. If you go to prom and dont get some, it could be considered a failure. It is a bunch of high school kids who dress up and play adult for a night. Fancy dinner, tux and dresses, and of course....SEX. An overall good time.

About Prom...

You need to be selective in your porn choices. There are a lot of options out there now and a lot of it is second-rate. Try and make a porn selection that your date can appreciate as much as you do.

That's my advice about porn.

That shit is commendable in my books.

Just like the bigger man not fighting.

I was just being sarcastic, not everyone has to put out for prom, some people just see it as an incentive. Those are the bad people USckk stay away from those people. Having sex just because it's prom just yeilds an expensive middleman, buy a ring at wal mart, it's cheaper. You know what they say "Diamonds:She'll have to put out." Besides it's not like everyone did it their prom night.

Is it really that great? it is just like anything else.. it is what you make it...

Is there much dancing involved? (I don't like dancing; actually I don't think I really know how... :() i didn't even go for much more than an hr or two to both of mine...

What is the best part about it? the dressing up and going out to eat somewhere that you wouldn't normally eat. try a nice hotel or something. and of course, the SEX! you should at least put the move on your "friend." make up some bullshit and you may get more than a friendly hug at the end of the night. keep touching her every chance you get.. open the doors, pull out her chair.. things you would normally do to a girlfriend... maybe she likes you and you just don't know it!!!

What should I expect? dressing up and trying to score.. and taking pictures..your mom and mostly her mom will want to take 5 days of pictures...

What type of tux would you suggest? whatever you like

Should I pay for my date's tickets, eventhough we're going as friends? it is your call dude.. if you have the money, do it.. generosity never hurt anyone.. if you are hurting for money, then you guys pay your own way...

Where should we go to eat before the prom? i'd suggest a nice hotel. they usually have several restaurants to suit your buidget... it all depends on the money you have...

I went long enough to dance one dance and get the picture taken, so at least I could prove to my mom I was there. :)

I never went to Prom. I didn't have a desire to go. I was very anti-high school.

SW, my husband and his brother used to do that with church. They go up to church to find out who the father was and then tell their mom so she'd think they went. He's so going to Hell.

Actually no....most of the people I hung out with didn't go to my school so why would I want to hang out there?

And there was a much better party going on that night elsewhere.

I'm with Duff and Shelly, I never went to my prom. I hated HS and couldn't want to get out of there, and spending more time with those fucks wasn't what I wanted to do.

Is it really that great? It was pretty nice...had a great time.

Is there much dancing involved? (I don't like dancing; actually I don't think I really know how... ) Danced a lot....disco was in then.

What is the best part about it? Dressing up in tux, having great dinner, being with a hottie.

What should I expect? just having fun

What type of tux would you suggest? whatever the current styles are(I had black tux with yellow shirt to match my girls dress)

Should I pay for my date's tickets, eventhough we're going as friends? Yes

Where should we go to eat before the prom? We went to Old an Francisco Steakhouse and the next year went to Crystal Baking Co.

My prom didn't live up to my expectations, but I had a good time nonetheless and was glad I went. It's great to go out to dinner with your group of friends, and see all the people you've run around with over the years all dressed up. Plus I was the pimp of the prom in my zoot suit. :king

One thing that dissapointed me about my prom was the music selection. The dumbass DJ they hired thought it would be cool to play like 3 slow songs the entire evening, and the rest was just a bunch of overplayed dance hits like YMCA, Boot Scootin' Boogy, and the Electric Slide, as well as a plethora of crappy rap and hip hop songs with themes that were just a LITTLE too suggestive for a highschool prom.

Honestly, I feel sorry for anybody who dances to anything other than a slow song at a prom or formal dance. And my whole school was doing it. Making asses of themselves on the dancefloor, trying to 'freak' in tuxes and prom dresses.

It was mildly amusing to watch, as disturbing as it may have been.

All in all, it was worth it just to see my girlfriend get all dolled up. She looked absolutely breathtaking (not that she doesn't all the time), and that was enough for me.

Unfortunately, she was on the rag that weekend, so we had to stick a rain check on the After-Prom Sex. Don't worry though...we made up for it. :smokin

I think prom is what you make of it. If you have someone to go with (even if it's not a girlfriend/someone who will put out), and have some fun events planned as far as dinner, etc. it can be a great time. My HS had a seniors only prom, you couldn't even go to the thing if you weren't a senior, so I guess there was more of an expectation factor with mine. Added to that was being able to go with my girlfriend at the time and it turned out to be a great evening. The one funny part about the whole thing was taking my girlfriend to an expensive place to eat, you know, we're all dressed up for the evening. While having dinner, I notice some guy calling out to me on the other side of the room. Turns out my HS basketball coach was there with his wife for dinner, and check this out, he was wearing his damn grey/elastic coach shorts, knee high fucking socks and the usual coaches shirt he wore at practice! Here I am in a tux at a nice/upscale place, and I see my coach wearing his practice outfit, damn! I was soooo fucking embarassed going across the room to say hello to him, nobody else in the room even had on shorts!

respect the 'fro :fro

You tell em Manny and Duff!

Tell em what? I didn't hate high school. I loved it...it was a great time. I just didn't go to prom. Like I said I was a pretty big loser/loner. I didn't have hardly any friends...I probably had 2 friends in high school that weren't related to me. I had alot of cousins that went to my high school when I was there.

I don't even know where those people I was friends with are now...well except one. I'm still friends with him.
