Everyone who is wanting to participate in Season 2 please submit your schedules as to when the best time is for you to draft. In order to accomplish what I am trying to do here with this league I am going to need a level of commitment out of you all.

I need all who intend to play Season 2 to be at the draft! I am making it a "No Auto-Draft" policy and if you aren't present... All players who were at the draft get to decide on your line-up. By this I mean, you will have the same type of players we all will have based on the drafting procedure I am going to lay out in a moment but you won't have a complete all-star team.

When an auto-draft happens, the computer picks a complete Olympic squad and this is what I don't want happening.

Drafting Procedure:
FYI, the draft order is random to start. Each time you draft a player the computer counts up the draft, IE; Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4...

Our draft order will consist of 3 rounds. Our first round consists of 3 cycles, IE; R1-1, R1-2, R1-3. Our second round consists of 4 cycles and our third round 5 cycles. With all draft picks chosen and all rounds completed you should end up with 12 players total on your team.

Round 1; you can only choose players for your team who have an OVR of 80+.

Round 2; OVR of 70-79.

Round 3; OVR of 0-69.

IMO, this gives us a broader range of possibilities when we are wanting to trade with each other and it also makes for a more realistic game and not so much NBA Jamz. I envision a league where we actually depend on some of our role players to step up once in a while, a game less ficticious when it comes to the markup of our teams, and a league we can all enjoy.

I hope you will all agree with me and I am open to any input you may have.

Everyone must leave their request to be in the league within a reply to this thread with their schedule for the draft. Those who were in our Preseason have to do the same. All that weren't in our Preseason will be voted on by our Preseason league members as to whether or not we let you in on Season 2. I will post a list of new members to be and allow all who were in the Preseason to leave a reply in my PM box with their vote for each new member. I will tally all votes up and I will announce who is in on 7/12 @ 9pm CST. Once I know who is in I will send invites out to join the league on Xbox Live.

fantasy draft is the only way to go for these online league. Someone gets stuck with the shit of the league and is only lucky if they can barely scratch together a playoff berth.

Additionally, fantasy draft is just way funner from a 'gm' side of things :wakeup

and i totally agree with you after weighing the options. i understand where you're coming from and i might put into place a system that's fair when drafting your players but that won't be till season2 actually is upon us. for now, preseason will be fantasy.

ok so here's the low down...

from the previous failed season1 we have 13 players who were/weren't committed but i am going to invite all 13 anyhow. those who complete preseason will automatically be signed up for season2.

we also have 5-6 new comers aboard.

remember people that tonight is the last night to sign up so leave your gamertag in this thread before 12AM CST or you won't be eligible to play in our preseason.

also here's how preseason is going to work. preseason is just a means to work out the kinks in regard to sliders. we won't be playing playoffs nor finals in the preseason so if this upsets you then please remove your name from the list.

preseason will consist of no less then 10 games per player and will only be played for a total of 2-3 wks. please be aware that you must get in atleast 3 games a week. i'd love to end preseason after 2 wks so we can move on to the real deal and get ballin'!

yo, 12 minute quarters? you're not for real, right? I thought 8 minute periods last time was too much. 6 minute is exactly half an NBA game, which is what I've found to be the best amount of time for an interesting game. It's a great game and all, but 12 minute q's are gonna be waaay overboard, a single game just doesn't stay interesting that long for me partially because of the 300 points im gonna have to score ...

yo, 12 minute quarters? you're not for real, right? I thought 8 minute periods last time was too much. 6 minute is exactly half an NBA game, which is what I've found to be the best amount of time for an interesting game. It's a great game and all, but 12 minute q's are gonna be waaay overboard, a single game just doesn't stay interesting that long for me partially because of the 300 points im gonna have to score ...

yes, you are correct. this draft really means jacksquat when you look at the overall picture of things. season2 draft will be the real deal, but that's not to say you shouldn't draft who you'd like to run with this preseason or that you shouldn't play at the top of your game during the preseason.

I agree. I think the Pre-season is a waste of time somewhat. Everyone was fine with the default sliders in season 1. I remember Kori trying to tweak the sliders to make the game better in his eyes, which I respect but it just didn't really work. There's a reason why Online play has the sliders at default. It's because its the best and closest to being realistic from the guys at NBA2k. If we just keep the sliders to what everyone in the world plays 2k online at everything should be fine. Twelve minute quarters for preseason is a bit way too much in my eyes.

I agree with everything you said here DannyT. But points in the paint isn't necessarily an indication of lets say Lebron going 1 on 5 and dunking in the paint. Believe it or not most of the points in the paint come from defensive and stealing passes in the passing lanes, which leads to fast break points. Lebron's team last year lead the league in fast break points, but of course people automatically assume all of the points in the paint come from a halfcourt offense.

yeah i noticed the 11 min qtrs too. i must had adjusted the qtrs on accident because i could have sworn they were at 12 a piece.

here's my reasoning behind 12 min qtrs and whatnot. say you play 6-8 or even 10-11 mins a qtr, you just don't have adequate amount of time to foul anyone out. trying to foul someone out is one thing but using it to your advantage because someone is prone to fouling is another. if said person is constantly fouling you, you have a better chance of strategically planning said person's ejection from the game. in a shorter game you will just be slowed down because of fouls but never at an advantage because someone is prone to fouling.

shorter qtrs/games = slower game due to fouls/out of rhythm
longer qtrs/games = advantage over someone who is prone to fouling

plus i would just imagine if you're wanting to sim a league you'd want to sim the qtrs at no less then what they are, 12 minutes a piece. maybe i'm in the minority here?

as for the pace of the game, i thoroughly enjoyed it.

i'm going to clarify this all up right now. MaddSurf82 is being manned at the moment by 2 people. My buddy Jase lives out at the beach during the summers and comes into town every couple weeks, while at the beach he has no internet so no xblive or league play, so my other friend Lance has taken over Preseason for Jase.

as for Season2, i am not sure how they will work their little situation out. i believe Jase will be back and forth between the beach and SA until august some time. in the meantime while Jase is at the beach i suppose Lance will be running things.

i'm trying my hardest to convince Lance to just buy a damn xb360 already and get in on this on his own accord.

i definitely want everyone at the season2 draft because what i have planned for our draft will only work if you're there to draft the players you want. with that said we all need to come to an agreement right after preseason on when season2's draft date and time should be to accommodate all in our league.

i am not exactly sure but i think you sign on to xblive with 2k9 in the xbox, go to the live menu and go into "leagues" and then into invites. something like that. same as last season1.

anyhow i will check later if you can't figure it out.
