Holocaust Museum shooter von Brunn a 9/11 'truther' who hated 'neo-cons', Bush, McCain (http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-722-Conservative-Politics-Examiner~y2009m6d10-Holocaust-Museum-shooter-von-Brunn-a-911-truther-who-hated-neocons-Bush-McCain)
The man accused of opening fire at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC on June 10, James W. von Brunn, left a trail of unhinged writings around the internet.
The anti-semitism of von Brunn is the first thing one notices when visiting these bizarre websites. However, like those of most "white supremacists", many of von Brunn's political views track "Left" rather than "Right." Clearly, a re-evaluation of these obsolete definitions is long overdue.
For example, he unleashed his hatred of both Presidents Bush and other "neo-conservatives" in online essays. As even some "progressives" such as the influential Adbusters magazine publicly admit, "neoconservative" is often used as a derogatory code word for "Jews". As well, even a cursory glance at "white supremacist" writings reveals a hatred of, say, big corporations that is virtually indistinguishable from that of anti-globalization activists.
James von Brunn's advocacy of 9/11 conspiracy theories also gives him an additional commonality with individuals on the far-left.
None of this will surprise readers of Jonah Goldberg's bestseller Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Change , which clearly demonstrates that "fascism" of the kind advocated by the British National Party (BNP) and the likes of James W. von Brunn is just as likely to reflect "leftwing" views as "rightwing" ones.
In fact, anti-semitism is something the New Left and the "Far Right" have had in common since the 1980s, which is why so many former leftists like David Horowitz defected from one side to the other during the Reagan era and beyond. It also helps explain the otherwise baffling alliance between the Left and radical Islam.
That this shooting occurred shortly after President Obama's former mentor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, blamed "the Jews" for his lack of access to his former parishioner is a troubling confluence of events as well.

I think she was trying to point out how asinine it is to associate the acts of a lone, nutjob with the words of a preacher, TV commentator, etc. etc.

I thought it was interesting how the article attempts to assign all the nutjobs -- including Nazis, fascists, white supremacists, even neocons (historically accurate, in part) -- to the left. That was fairly *nuanced* too.

Buying what? The article is practically fact-free. Throw in everything you don't like, and guilt by association takes care of the rest. Nobody who already agrees will object.

You can read the writings of this lunatic online and judge for yourself.

The chain of association made in the OP is not intuitively clear from this IMO, and the OP itself relies on fiat, not analysis.

What, no mention of his belief that Obama wasn't really American? I guess that doesn't really fit in with the story though, does it...

This is where the author would have to plead for "nuance" in not painting the right with the broad brush he reserves for the left. You know, because everyone on the left is a truther, donchaknow.
And plenty of conservatives and libertarians hate Bush too, but he couldn't paint them all as "hard left" now could he?

I love all the freepers in the comments. They even have an Obama=antichrist sighting! True comedy, mixed with a touch of pity.

It's pathetic how both sides are scrambling to politicize this act. Everyone has lost consciousness of "the individual".
Too much damn politics in politics.
For this, I blame the left.

Evedently, the guy was so "conservative" that he also had on his list of targets a local Fox News station and the Washington Post.
According to MyFoxNY.com, investigators found a notebook in the car believed to belong to von Brunn with a list of other targets in the city.
Other locations on the list included the U.S. Capitol, the White House, the Washington Post, and a FOX News location.
Oh, Gee!!

I don't know if you can classify this guy as conservative or liberal, but I don't see how you could ever turn him into a democrat like Beck is attempting to do.

Yeah, I never heard anyone on the right rail against the mainstream media, either.

and he was so "liberal" that he wanted to kill Marxists.
GMAFB.
He's a Nazi shit head who hated everyone but white nazi's. Let's leave it at that instead of trying to classify him in an ideology different from our own so we can feel better.

I actually agree with you. I'm pointing out how ridiculous it is to try and politicize this murder. I just wish the MSM wasn't in such a hurry to do this.

You may agree, but the person who wrote the article you linked to certainly seems willing to politicize it.

A Children’s Treasury Of Annoying Liberal Insta-reactions To This Local Murder (http://wonkette.com/409084/a-childrens-treasury-of-annoying-liberal-insta-reactions-to-this-local-murder)
If there is one thing to count on when a lunatic shoots someone due to lunacy, it is to expect scores of liberal blog posts, longwinded self-righteous television segments from MSNBC anchors, and of course press releases from liberal advocacy groups about how this murder is HATE-TERRORISM and also the direct fault of a funny Fox News television entertainer or commenters on a right wing forum. They are instant. And, of course, with the news that a white supremacist shot a security guard at the Holocaust Museum today, many liberal bloggers have noted that their first reaction to the shooting of a human was, “OOH, THOSE REPUBLICANS GOT PWNED FOR WHAT THEY SAID IN APRIL, SUCKAS.”
Here’s Matt Yglesias, who doesn’t have “a great deal” to say about this shooting, except to make a very specific political point, and to tie it in with last week’s very specific political point.
Following up on the assassination of George Tiller, we appear to have a new outbreak of right-wing domestic terrorism as white supremacist James Von Brunn goes on a shooting spree at the U.S. Holocaust Museum.
Not a great deal more to say about this right now, but I hope that everyone who mau-maued the Department of Homeland Security for expressing concern about this kind of thing feels appropriately ashamed of themselves.
Steve Benen echoes Yglesias, about how foolish the Republicans look now that there have been two lunatic shooters in the past two weeks in America:
The DHS report specifically addressed the possibility of violence from anti-abortion radicals and anti-Semitic extremists. And in the last two weeks, Tiller was assassinated and a white supremacist opened fire at the Holocaust Memorial Museum.
The Republican hysteria over the DHS report — which was, by the way, initiated by a Bush administration official — was always based more on a partisan scheme than reality, but the incessant complaints look especially misguided today.
And here’s Respectable Blogger Josh Marshall, who, like many others, has been poring through this lunatic’s writings to find his opinions on various Barack Obama conspiracies. Josh Marshall is brilliant! This is the worst thing we’ve read on the Internet this week:
One thing we’ve learned about James von Brunn is that he was apparentely a ‘birther’, one of these folks who claims that Barack Obama is not the legitimate president of the United States because he is not a natural born US citizen (this is all the ‘where’s the birth certificate’ nonsense).
Who could’ve guessed!
Maybe we should just thank James von Brunn today for shooting a human at the Holocaust Museum, because look at all the political points he’s allowing liberal bloggers to score immediately today! Why it’s the best thing to happen since Columbine, when we finally got to stick it to that Marilyn Manson for making all the kids shoot each other, with his rock songs.

Whom will they thank then?

White supremacists hate the US support of Israel and wanted an Iraq War pullout, just like the left.
I can't believe how stupid and out of touch this forum is getting...ok well the stupid part has been here since day 1 but the out of touch part is definitely recent.
The radical left and the radical right are essentially the same right now...and their chief issues just to happen to be anti- Israel and anti- Iraq war.
