The Texans have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent quarterback Rex Grossman.

If Grossman passes his physical on Friday as expected, he will give the Texans four quarterbacks entering next week's minicamp.
Grossman, the Bears' No. 1 pick in 2003 will sign a one-year deal for the minimum $620,000.

He will join starter Matt Schaub and backups Dan Orlovsky and Alex Brink as the four quarterbacks on the roster.
The Texans completed organized team activities Thursday. Their three-day minicamp begins Monday.

I like this move. The Texans got set back 3 years with Boselli and Carr. When the 2 most important picks of your franchise are total utter busts because of injury or suckage, you are going to suffer.

Again, I'm sticking to the Texans having a better record than the Cowboys this year.

The Texans got set back because of a poor GM.

I like Grossman as a backup better than Orlovsky and with Kubiak's ability to coach-up QBs this should make for a good pick. Especially since nothing long term was signed. It just makes me wonder how much faith was lost in Orvlosky during the OTAs and mini-camps. They did give him a 3 year deal worth about 9 million.

He should start. He led a team to a superbowl after all.

That's an excellent point.

I'm going to start a "Start Rex Grossman" campaign.

Barring the "I" word, no way in hell would that happen. But I do not have an opinion about Grossman until I see Orvlasky in action. Didn't really watch too many Lions games last season, except for the one against the Texans.

Nice move since they traded Rosenfels, who i think is better than Schwab. He never had a weapon like Johnson or slaton in chicago.

The only problem is that given Schaub's recent history, the backup QBs do matter. I would hope this was more of a small gamble to see if Grossman could turn into something useful.

im guessing no one wanted him as a primary or secondary QB....Camp Arm or 3rd string

Rex always played good when he wasnt playing from behind so I say have matt get the lead for us and then have Rex be our closer like in baseball. I do like this move though.

Why the hell not?

He'll be in street clothes most of the time unless Schaub gets hurt.

Except the backup usually still wears his uni and holds for the fg kicker
