Pathetic, I know. Last place I expected to find a girlfriend.

But before you laugh, just know that we've been perfectly happy together for two solid years now, engaged for six months, and we still haven't the slightest doubt that no matter how random our encounter may have been, it was meant to be for both of us.

So don't say that the internet never did anything good for anyone. :blah

Jess and I have a cool story.

We met on an internet site called Friendster. I messenged her asking her about some of her art, and a conversation ensued.

However, on that same day, we also commented on a blog that we both followed (we didn't know it though) and another conversation ensued. This one wasn't friendly in the least and involved terms such as man hater. :lol

She realized she was talking to the same person as on friendster due to my icon, but I had no idea untill she told me later. It was really coincidental and weird, but it makes for a really cool story too, or so I think.

Anyhow, a few weeks after that, I took her to dinner, and the rest is history.

The History of Kori Ellis and timvp: Part 1

Kori Ellis was living Los Angeles and frequenting Spurs message boards in the summer of 2001. She often read the eloquent postings of one timvp. On occasion the two would talk during game chats and though they admired each other's posting styles, it was nothing more as both were attached with not-so signficant others at the time.

All Kori knew of timvp was from his posts. He was obviously intelligent. He loved the Spurs. But always seemed to side with Pop and thought Avery Johnson was great, which didn't please her.

One night in the chatroom at SpursReport.com, very late when all others had exited. The two stayed late and chatted about things from work, to school, to Spurs. Though both Kori and timvp would say later that they felt some attraction that day, this was not the time for them.

Several months past and though the two became more acquainted with each other's posts, neither knew that things were changing in the other's lives off the net. Around the same time (January 2002) both somehow rid themselves of their temporary partners.

And then, it happened.

On March 9, 2002, the two cyberfriends were private chatting in the SR.com chatroom and KoriEllis was so bold to ask, "Why don't you ever flirt with me like the other guys here?"

timvp replied, "Because I respect the fact you have a boyfriend."

Kori: "... and because you have a girlfriend?"

timvp: "Had."

And that was it. With that one word, the rest of there lives changed.

The History of Kori Ellis and timvp: Part 2

Kori, not willing to miss the opportunity to talk more with this man in San Antonio who she was becoming ever more drawn to, gave timvp her email address and told him to write her a note.

On the morning of March 11, 2002, Kori opened her email and to her delight was a note from timvp. She read it over and quickly replied. Over the next few days the two would exchange 5,000+ words by email.

By the following week, they decided they needed to take the next step. timvp provided Kori with his telephone number. And at 7:00pm pacific time on Tuesday March 19th, she was to call.

That night they talked on the phone until nearly 2:00am. Yes ... seven hours.
The very next night they talked again for nearly the same amount of time.

When Kori hung up the phone that early morning, she started crying. She had an overwhelming sense that she would marry him.

Was she crazy? Maybe. Was she wrong? No.

Over the next few weeks, they talked on the phone 7-10 hours a day. Kori was coming to San Antono for the playoffs in April. They could hardly wait.

The History of Kori Ellis and timvp: Part 3

In the month between the time they talked on the phone and the time they met in person, timvp and Kori went through a gamut of emotions. At one point, Kori was becoming so overwhelmed with feelings for timvp, that she decided that they shouldn't meet at all.

What? Why?

Well Kori was living in Los Angeles and timvp in San Antonio. Kori didn't know if she could go through the hardship of a long distance relationship. She didn't know what to do. So she asked him ...

Kori: "I don't think I should come to San Antonio."

timvp: "What? Why?"

Kori: "Because there's no good ending. If I come there and you don't like me, I'll cry. If I come there and we really like each other, then what's next? I just don't see a good end."

timvp: "Well there's one good end ... we could get married."

(see he's damn smooth :smokin)

So the two would meet -- Spurs vs Sonics 2002 Playoffs. Kori arrived in San Antonio and met her fate. As she waited in the hotel room for timvp to arrive, she thought she was going to stop breathing. But when she opened the door and they hugged, she knew it was over. She knew he would be her husband.

Kori spent the next five days in San Antonio in bliss. The two were in love; their fairy tale ending was coming true.

Kori would fly back to Los Angeles tearful, but happy. And for the next eight weeks she would do the same.

Every Friday after work she'd head to LAX where she would catch a flight to San Antonio. timvp would pick her up at the airport in SA and they'd spend the weekend together before she'd catch the 6am flight back to LA on Monday morning.

Two months this went on, but the travel and the time without each other was too much.

That summer timvp came to Los Angeles for one month where the two would decide that Kori would leave the city behind and return to San Antonio.

In August 2002, the two packed a U-HAUL full of furniture and made the 1,500 mile trek to the Alamo City. They rented a house in Encino Park and began the rest of their lives together.

On December 21, 2002, Kori Ellis and timvp would marry and live happily ever after.

THE END.

Yeah...to me, meeting a person is meeting a person, no matter really how you go about it.

I found my fiance's profile one random summer night, IMed her and we talked until morning. About a week later, we met up and just watched Blow at my place. About another week later, we were an item. And things have just progressed wonderfully from there.

I just found it amazing how simple everything seemed to work out for us. Most of the people I had met on the internet previously ended up being total oddballs. I always figured I might be able to find A girl on the internet...but never did I envision finding my dream girl. :)

for me, i dont meet people online.

If you would have told me five years ago that I'd meet my future wife on the internet, I would have told you that you're crazy. Before I emailed Kori, I had already been posting at the above mentioned site for a good 5-6 years. People begged me to go to get togethers but I never even thought about going. Nobody knew my name, how old I was, where I went to school or anything else about me. I used the internet for work and to follow sports and that was it.

But it's funny how fate works its magic.

I met my husband when he was 17 and I was 19. We both worked at Spencer Gift's at the Mission Viejo Mall in Mission Viejo (duh), CA. We started out as really good friends and would talk on the phone for hours. He even took some co-worker to the prom during that time :flipoff. Anyway, even though he was trying hard to look like John Taylor of Duran Duran back then, I knew that he was extremely intelligent and had ambition.

In conclusion, we dated for 5 years, got married Jan 27, 1990, and had two kids. We've had our ups and downs, but I couldn't imagine life without him. Sorry, Jimbo :lol

seriously...

I met my wife through a friend in a group of guys that I ran with. We all had intense jobs but spent most of our spare time doing extreme sports stuff...surfing/motocross/water skiing/hobie cats at the beach, etc. Every weekend we were out doing stuff from dawn till dusk. My friends wife introduced me to his sister and we went to a party that night and hit it off...I dumped all my casual girlfriends the next day and the rest is history. My friend hated that I married his older sister and never really forgave me.

I met the future Mrs. Brodels in college in 1999. I joined a national service fraternity and had a frat 'mother' who turned out to be the future Mrs. Brodel's best friend. I thought she was cute and word kind of got around...I asked her out a short time later. She wasn't into a relationship for a while though. I pressed hard to keep us together over the first couple of months.

I've broken parts of my wrists/hands on two different occassions playing basketball. I got a cast on my right hand/wrist/arm the day of our first date. I ate my meal with my left hand for the first time that night. I was dumb enough to get pasta, too. It was quite an adventure, and I didn't really get to eat much.

After a string of failed relationships I was done. I had always heard that nice guys finish last but I didn't believe it. I was the nice guy and damned if I didn't get screwed...and not in the way I like. I was the poster boy for "I just want to be friends" or "but you are like a brother to me" or "we are too good of friends to date" Name the copout, it was applied to me. I was tired of getting stepped on so I said to hell with it. A friend of mine convinced me to come to Dallas for New Years Eve. I was determined to get completely shitfaced and face 2002 with a hangover. A week before my scheduled trip, I was about to cancel my trip and spend New Years with only the company of my friend Smirnoff. For some reason, I decided to take my trip after all. I got there and the next night was the party. My friends throwing it set my up with someone. Ugh. We were not even there 10min and she was on my arm and talking like we had been dating for 10 years. I was not in a mood for a clinging vine. I was then introduced to Beth's (the woman throwing the party) friend from church, Erica. We hit it off immediately and talked all night. Not sure what happened to the other girl. :) She stayed until 2a that night and came back over New Years Day at 7p and stayed with me until 2p the next day when I left for home. Over time we talked via email and phone and we made trips back and forth to see each other. We saw each other once a month until June 2002 when we moved her to SA. We got married in October 2003 and have been happily married since. Something I found out later about fate....the week leading up to the New Years party, Erica had been sick and only decided to go at the last minute.

Manny did not know at that point that I was going through a very jaded and bitter period in my life (scary I know, because that's how I come across to many people already) thanks to a jackass that I had recently had a falling out with after dating. I looked for the friendster messages and couldn't find them - but I did find the blog comments:

Original Blog Entry:
He talks to me like nothing is wrong! I CANT STAND THAT!!!

GRRR MAKES REALLLLY PISSED OFF!

Jekka: Oh how I empathise. All too well. Men are pigs... and that pretty much sums it up.
Blogger: Amen to that. I just told him something that he didn't like soo maybe he'll actually get the freakin hint, but more than likely he wont. That asshole!
Thanks for the comment..at least I know ONE person understands! :)
Jekka: Good look to you on that, though from my experience, men do not take hints. They know the dictionary definition but are completely incapable of recognizing them when confronted.
MannyisGod: I take hints, you said you had a problem with my face and I left the room. DLKFJSDLKJFSDLKJFDSLKJLDSKJ
MannyisGod: that's a pretty shitty blanket statement. I guess I could resort to the typical women are bitches retort, but then I'd simply be falling into your pig mold.
Judge each invidual on their actions, not on their gender.
Jekka: All men are pigs and all women are bitches. Men don't take hints and women keep giving them ... no one is learning from anyone - such is how it has always been, and probably how it always will be.
MannyisGod: I disagree.
MannyisGod: Seriously, when in this situation, the best action is to ignore the person. Nothing sends a stronger message than showing that if you're an ass, you're out the door.
Thats my opinion anyhow.

I was separated from my first husband and had finally decided to file for divorce. On the day I filed my friend and I made plans to go out and celebrate. She had previously told me about a guy she thought I would hit it off with. I said no because I wasn't ready to date yet. After being with someone for ten years, the last thing I wanted was to get into another relationship. Anyway, we went out that night and who should we see but this guy. She introduced us and we visited for a while and then he left.

We did not exchange phone numbers or anything. Then the next day she called me and said he called her and asked if I would be willing to have lunch with him. I gave in and said yes. When we had lunch I found out that she had called him and said the same exact thing to him about me. Although we had really hit it off when we met, neither one of us had asked about the other.

After that first lunch, the rest is history....We took the bull by the horns, so to speak, and got married 6 months later. We have been married for 7 1/2 years. The 8th anniversary of our first meeting was last week on March 21. He is still just as romantic and wonderful now as he was then. He is a great husband and father & I am incredibly lucky. He spoils me rotten.

We got married six weeks after my divorce was official. We were going to wait until New Years Eve and go to Las Vegas but my ex husband was threatening to take me to court for "living in sin" after the divorce was final. He said I was setting a bad example for our daughter.

:wtf

Manny is a musician on the side. I should say I stopped dating guys in bands - the ones I've dated have all turned out to be jerks. It would be difficult for me to spend this much time who didn't share my music appreciation, though.

But no, there's no one else on the side, haha.

A good friend of mine was going out with this gal he knew at SWT. We were having a frat party one evening when he came up to me and asked me if I would hang out with this gal. This was the one he was currently going out with. He explained that there was another girl at the party that he wanted to get to know, but wouldn't be able to because girl #1 would be there. I told him it would cost him a case of Shiner and a dinner at Herbert's. I'd met the girl before and didn't think too much of her from a personality standpoint. So we talked and drank and talked and drank and drank and drank and drank. I begrudgingly went out with her the next evening.

I guess she kind of grew on me, because I've been married to her for the last 15 years.

My hubby and I were both Applied Physics majors at ASU, he was a junior when I was a freshman and I remember seeing him in the cafeteria thinking that he was weird because he and his girlfriend at the time would sit there and split up the Crunch Berries into the red and yellow. I had him for several classes over the years, we were in SPS together, and his roommate was my lab partner and one of my best friends for several years. I knew him in passing for all those years, he even dated a girl that lived on my floor and I saw him in the smoking room in our dorms a time or two (she smoked, he didn't). I didn't seriously talk to him until we took a Tech Writing class together my junior year and ended up sitting next to each other by chance. From there, casual flirting started and one thing led to another.. I was supposed to just be a senior year fling for him but we were engaged the next year and finally tied the knot 6 years later and we've been married for almost 2 years now. :makeout

I'm another person who's met someone online. I'm not with anyone now but my first boyfriend I met online in a SA chatroom (remember Cootersgrl??) and that lasted for five years and the last one I met on sr and we were together for 5 months. I think its time I met someone in the real world now lol both ended badly for me but I have nothing against the internet. It worked for a while for me.

I love reading stories like this too.
I hope I have a story to share with you guys like this again one day but <crossing fingers> it will involve my future husband not just a boyfriend.

I met Ruth down in Brownsville when I came home from school in May, 1982. She came there to work in the hospital, and my parents would pick her up for church. The first Sunday evening after I got back, there was a church gathering in McAllen, so a bunch of the folks met at the church to leave together. Just as I was getting in a car with my sister and some friends, my mom came over and asked me to ride with them, because Ruth was riding with them and they thought it would be nicer for her to have someone her age to ride with. I inwardly groaned, then thought to myself, "Well, I hope she's cute, at least." She was (and still is).

That summer, my sister and I would pick her up on Sundays, until one day I told my sister, "Don't bother hurrying, I'll pick her up myself." That fall, I stayed down in Brownsville for a semester, and the rest, as they say, is history. We just celebrated our 20th a couple months ago.

Summer 92, just finsihed high school and on of my good friends had been dating this girl. He had to leave for awhile and a mutral friend liked her and was going trying to hook up with her. I didn't know her to well then and went to a party with several friends.

Knowing he was going to try to move in on her, I tried to be a good friend and intervine and keep him away. So I stayed with her and kept talking to her to be friends. Well we soon realized we had a very strong bond, attraction...........IT! Needless to say both friends weren't happy with me, but 6 months later we got married and 13 yrs later couldn't be happier.

No- that is what I get for trying to shorten a story that takes an hour to tell in person into a couple of lines on the internet. That "craziness" all happened before I ever met anyone in person. After my friends confronted the real him and a friend's cousin who went to school with him confirmed the truth about what kind of person he was, I came to know that he was not actually the crazy guy who had been stalking me. That crazy guy had been pretending to be him, using information about him. The "real" guy and I went to rival high schools and so our paths crossed at academic competitions, football games, local events, etc. and we finally met and got to know each other for real over the course of that year before he asked me out. After that we dated for several years before we got married and neither of us ever met the crazy guy who "brought us together."

Nice thread, especially Kori's and LJ's tale. I knew the outline, but the details are very sweet. :)

There's a pretty crazy story behind my closest shave with marital bliss.

It was July 2003. I'd recently decided to change my entire life, made my first pilgrimage to SA (and met many of you), then it was on to Okinawa, Japan, to teach English on the JET program. When I arrived there was no accomodation lined up for me and I was a mess - severely sleep-deprived, assaulted by the tropical summer, and a bit culture-shocked. Anyway, my supervisor at the school I was to start work at a month later was Yoko, a 26yo internationalised Japanese sweetheart whose family took me in whilst I searched for an apartment.

Knowing nothing of Japanese custom, and little of the language, I also needed Yoko's help to sort out all of the annoying details of moving to a new country, so we ended up spending pretty much every hour of the next week together setting me up with a life, and introducing me to her favourite parts of the island. We clicked immediately, but she was engaged to a guy in LA so I think we both internally denied the obvious attraction between us.

I moved into my apartment a week later, and then a couple of days later, 2 days before she was to go to LA to get married, a typhoon hit the island and she came over to keep me company. We played scrabble for hours, and you would not believe the words than came out in the board... "pump", "lust", "sexy", you get the drift. There we were shut up in a one-room apartment in the middle of a massive storm for hours on end, and what I can only describe as the red mist of lust descended upon us both. Almost as if puppets to an invisible force, we started to make out and it felt like lightning, but then I snapped out of it and realised how wrong it was and actually walked out onto the balcony into the storm to get away from her. Nothing else like that has ever happened to me - it was crazy and powerful and a real surprise to me as I'm usually very much in control of my actions and don't do things like that.

Anyway, ten minutes in the storm straightened out my head, and we talked about what had happened and agreed that it was just her jitters and my culture-shock, and two days later she hopped on a plane to LA.

15 days later, 5 days before she was due back to Okinawa, I got a call on my mobile phone and it was her. From the tone of her voice I immediately knew that she wasn't married and that our feelings for each other were real - we had just denied them because of the circumstances. That afternoon I kissed her sitting on the sea wall as we watched the sun go down, and we were together from that moment for two extremely happy years.

If I were a different man I would have married her, but I didn't and that's that - I used to think about that a lot, but I don't much any more which is a good thing. She's happy and successful, and so am I, so maybe things have worked out as they should.

We hit it off after a drink or ten and took it back to my place. We were in love... Love?! What the hell is love?! That bitch wouldn't know love if it jacked off in her face! She knows what money is though... Yeah she knows money. If i would have gotten that job in tallahasee she'd still be cleaning my pipe. But nooooo! I hit a run of bad luck and she cuts and runs with herb. What are best friends for, huh herb?! You were my best man you asshole! My best man!!!!! Eat a dick herb! You hear me?! Eat a dick!!!!!

damn you herb!!!

I glad I am not the only guy!!! I love perfect feet. There should be no reason why a women can't take care of them and if you cant do the french pedi all the time at least put on some damn nail polish:bang

Believe me...........I started paying attention to sexy feet back when I was in my 20's and single. I met this girl that was cute, took her to the crib and HIT IT. I woke up the next morning with her next to me......looked down at the end of the bed and could not tell which were her feet and which were mine. Bish had feet that belonged on Malik Rose.........I was like.......DAAAAAMN!!!!!! :vomit:

From that point on, pretty feet were mandatory. Usually if you look down and see pretty feet, you look up and the girl is smokin hot. :hat There is no reason for a girls feet to look like she ran through a gravel pit with shards of glass sprinkled over it.

I met my wife in April of 2001 at a singles group my brother was running through a local church my family attended. She was enamored by me(I was enamored by her curvacious figure in the tight leather pants and fitted sweater), but man, she had no idea what she was getting herself in to. She was pretty sheltered and had very little life experience and I had only been clean for less than a month...so she basically had to experience my whole reprogramming process. It wound up being one of the best things for both of us. I had this wonderfully pure creature that wasn't like the rest of the soft butter females I'd been used to...which made me respect her...and she got to see a side of life that she needed to know existed in order to have a proper appreciation for all types of people, regardless of thier background or upbringing.

We dated for a year and were married in May of 2002. We have been through a lot in just 7 1/2 years, but it has only made us stronger. I only thought I loved her a lot when we got married. Today I love her more than my own life.

I keep my feet nice and neat. If I need to get a pedicure I just catch a date and make some feria and then hit up the chinas on the southside. Right Katy?

I met my bish at the pulga. I needed to go get some furnishure and bootlegs and there che was, buying an helote. Che looked all fine and chit with the butter dripping down her shin. I walked up to her and told her that che had a fat ass and asked her if che wanted to dance. My favorite group was playing The Bread 8. We danced then I took her to her home and gave her the chile.

doesn't matter where I am if I see a girl with open toe shoes or flip flops then I am looking at her feet before anything else. Your right, it all starts at the feet and if that is good then the farther you go up the better it gets:toast

No, not as strange as some might think. I worked in the Texas prison system for almost 6 years setting up and running drug/alcohol treatment programs for inmates. She was a guard at the time working to pay her way through college at Texas State.

We began just talking to each other as we passed coming in/out of the blocks/pods. Eventually set up a date and the rest is history. We just had to be very careful due to the fact that inmates are very perceptive and we wanted to keep our dating between the two of us.

yo any of the clubs in Jersey is where the hottest ladies can be found. easy to talk to, easy to take home and get in the jacuzzi, and then take care of business. NYC has some nice clubs, but the skanks up there are way too stuck on themselves. they ain't feeling the situation know what I mean?

I met my wife based on a phone call on a friends phone. She sounded pretty hot, so I decided to pursue. I asked my friend if he was cool with it first though. Can't go ruining my friends game and all.

Wound up meeting her a week later, then next thing we know it was 6 months, a year, then engaged, two years, three years, marraige, 4 years, 5 years first child. Talk about a hell of a ride!
