I think the girl is a liar. I find it hard to believe that a tattooist would do something like that against a person's will. How can someone even fall asleep and not feel the tattoo being performed? That just doesn't make any sense to me.

When they invent a tattoo that fades away over a few years, I may consider it. I just can't think of anything less attractive than a tattoo on an old woman. May have seemed like a great idea when you're 18...

I think that's the other thing stopping me. I know it's permanent, so I want something that I know I'll still like when I'm 45-50. A friend of mine got a flying monkey tattooed on his leg, and I'm thinking, "Are you really going to be happy with that when you're older and have kids?" :lol So I still look online, see if there's anything of interest. So a long story short.. I don't know. :lol What do you want to get?

Unlikely.
Very few tattoo artists will give you a tat under the influence of alcohol. Has nothing to do with saying you don't want it later; lots of alchy in your system will cause you to keep bleeding and have problems clotting, thus scarring the tat and reflecting poorly upon the artist.
Unlikely.

I would never get one unless it had some meaning to me and it wouldn't be somewhere everyone can see. Well, i used to think that but hanging out in San Diego the last 8 years has really turned me off to tattoos. I mean everyone has one, im not kidding. If your 18-35 living in diego chances are you have a tattoo...I mean i went to the hard rock hotel pool downtown a week ago and i swear i was the only one out there without a tatt, girls included. Ridiculous, and most i bet are because it "looks dope/cool/sweet" whatever. Lots of my friends have em' too, i highly doubt i ever get one now, just completely turned off by it and i like being in the minority.

Funny. But I have a wrist tattoo and a job that pays taxes/is fairly respectable. To be fair, it's pretty small and two of my coworkers only noticed it last week, despite having had it since November.
I sometimes wonder how much/if I will regret my ankle band when I'm old. But somehow, I doubt it. I usually forget it's even there, I'm so used to it. I agree that they can be addictive. I would certainly like to get more done at some point.
I will always love my moon tattoo though. I wanted that for years and it still makes me happy to see. The only regret I would have is if SFIE and I split up, since it was a wedding gift (he paid for mine, I paid for his).
As for the OP . . . man, dumbass. I don't buy falling asleep at all. I was totally keyed up on adrenaline each time and they freaking hurt. The tattoo parlor I've used for all of mine refuses to do tats on people who appear under the influence of alcohol or have any sign they've been drinking, even if they seem sober. They'll offer a piercing instead, lol.

Everything in this post is spot on. I have a couple of tats here and there and they all hurt like a bitch. No way could someone sleep through that, especially on your face. And every parlor I have ever been in will not do work on a drunk person. This chick is a dumbass.
As far as people thinking it will be weird being a old person with tats, it will be a pretty common thing with the present generation. We are going to see larger group's of older and older people rocking their tats into old age.
