Countdown to Enshrinement: David Robinson's 71-point game (http://www.masslive.com/basketball-hall-of-fame/index.ssf/2009/06/countdown_to_enshrinement_davi.html)
by Erik Gallant

On April 24, 1994 (http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/199404240LAC.html) David Robinson put on an all-around clinic in a San Antonio Spurs game against the L.A. Clippers.

Robinson scored 71 points that night, shooting 26-41 from the floor and 18-25 from the foul line. He also grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. He even hit a 3-pointer, one of 25 he made in his pro career (Robinson shot a surprising 35% from behind the arc in the 1993-1994 season, making 10 of 29).

No commentators? The game wasn't televised!!! I remember hating that about our home town coverage, not all games were broadcast (still same?). I'm stationed in Germany so I'm not sure.

Too bad Willie Anderson and Big Dog Carr didn't stick around to win a championship.

First post!!

That game wasn't on TV b/c it was played on a Sunday at 2:30. NBC had a game on at that time, so any game going on at the same time wasn't allowed to be televised locally. I remember listening to it on WOAI with my Dad. Going into a timeout in the 1st quarter I remember Jay Howard saying something like "Timeout at the L.A. Sports Arena with our score David Robinson 17 and the Los Angeles Clippers 16. This is Spurs basketball."

Dwight Howard wishes he could be like Dave.
