Die.

Die and go to hell.

I kind of echo this sentiment...

I was just talking about the Super Toy Run with a buddy of mine last week. That contest alone made Nick THE coolest station ever.

It was kind of funny how every year the STR got worse and worse. 1st it was a trip to Hawaii, than to California, than a local toy store. Then they just axed it. How sad.

If that is really you, than I hate you, you lucky bastard.

Actually it was in progress for several years before 93. I think 1988 or 89 was the first annual Toy Run, which ran until at least 1994, but I think they had a contest in 95 and 96 as well.

The first several years, they sent the winner to the Mall of America, another to a mall in D.C., and one went to California as well.

I always thought the best strategery would have been to go exclusively video games

One of the agreements that I made with Nickelodeon was that I would actually move throughout the store and pick up stuff.

I had 5 minutes... I probably spent 1/5th of that in the games section. :lol

There were other big prizes throughout the store... the Domino Rally sets were like $70 a piece! I got a HUUUUUGE stuffed Barney that was worth $500.

Sweet. I was on an episode of Double Dare. You know at the end of the show when the credits were rolling and they would pull people out of the crowd to compete for prizes in a quick game? I was in this pie passing contest. I elbowed the kid on my team in the nose on accident and we lost.

Congrats on not seeing the entire Toy Run. Some of the video there was not even footage from the actual run.

I already owned a SNES, and ended up with 2 more + 3 Segas.

Nice way to attempt to douche up the thread. I "bought" a Ps3 because a guy traded it to me (the 60GB fully backwards compatible version) for my Wii straight up. I didn't trade for a 360 because I like products that don't fail every three months of use. :toast

Lots are still in my basement. Some were lost when the train bringing them home from California derailed. I gave a bunch to charity (the Christmas for impoverished children thing). Most of the games I traded in for others.

I ended up with over 80 games, but as I said, I agreed to not stay very long in one section. Understandably, Nick wanted footage from several parts of the store.

The Barbie-grab though, was very real, as my dad suggested I get some for our neighbors. It's kind of stupid looking back, but oh well, it gave them some good footage.

You're right. Those random postcards that they draw out, they just know which ones are from white people and which aren't! :lol

If you'd actually bothered to read the video description, this is a video that I had converted to DVD format about a year ago -- however when I put it on my computer it did not play well. Fast forward to today, for whatever reason I was sorting some old junk on my other hard drive on backup, and came across the file. Double-clicked it and it played perfectly. Even uploaded to youtube without a hitch or need of a file conversion.

You can call BS all you want. I think it's pretty humorous, actually.

My whole family was of that line of thinking (no one wins). Apparently they do. Bizarre world. :wakeup

Exactly what I was thinking. It must be the slowest day ever for ST when people start threads about Nickleodeon.

The most humorous thing about this is that you click on it KNOWING it's a thread about Nickelodeon and still felt the need to share your opinion about how stupid of a thread it is, despite the fact that several other members seem to enjoy this little bit of nostalgia.

Before I went, I was probably the most popular kid the school had ever seen.

When I got back, after the initial questions and "wow" of the trip had subsided, I quickly became the most despised kid in the school. It almost ruined the entire experience. The kids became pretty vicious, to the point of ridiculing my parents and my family. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by that, and I'm certainly not now in retrospect, but at the time, it was extremely upsetting. What good is a trip and thousands of toys if (nearly) every kid you see on a daily basis hates you for being lucky?

I cant raise the volume here at work, but how old were you in that video? Im sure they say it on the broadcast...

Anyway, pretty friggin sweet. I remember LA Lights, too bad we couldnt afford them. I was full of myself when I was like 5 or 6 years old when I got a pair of those Kangaroo shoes (iirc, that is....they had the coin pouch or whatever). Too bad they were out of style by then.

Ahhh, lower middle class, the days of "skitchin" during the winter, wall walking, trash pickin, parachuting and street crashing.

From the freaking video, since I advised you once to read the description already:

This is a very personal video for me... it's the commercial -I- made for Nickelodeon in 1993! I actually found this on an old hard drive, as I thought it was junk because my old media player wouldn't play it very well.

The video was uploaded to YouTube yesterday. How much more clearly would you like me to spell it out for you?
