This one is a little older than 10 years, but it's one of my all-time favorites.

I'm into comedy, so the majority of the movies I watch are comedies.

no his movies are shit, but i was somewhat serious when calling him a genius, in that he went from being broke as fuck, to rich and famous as hell with a few movies and tv shows, all basically off the same script.

- big black family gets together as a big happy family
- happiness turns into stupid arguments and fights
- someone is cheating on someone
- the one who got cheated on gets their revenge
- everyone makes up and is back to being one big happy family

and it sells because people "can relate to it" and Perry knew that. great. a job well done. but after reusing the same basic script about 10 times, you would think people would have gotten tired of it, but somehow it still sells... like the wayans bros and their 150 different "(insert word here) movies".

Incorrect.

Gladiator is top 10.

However, these are better.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h85/LCosgrove/Proposition.jpg

Although Gladiator may be better than 28 days later.

Both great movies, Proposition is fraking amazing.

American History X, Fight Club, Adaptation, Old Boy gets listed again, Assassination Of Jesse James, Royal Tennenbaums, Spirited Away, Children Of Men, Munich, The Big Lebowski, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, The Jacket, Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Pans Labyrinth, Letters From Iwo Jima, and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada would be some of my favorites that haven't been listed.

Actually the wayans only made Scary movie 1 and 2. Hollywood saw easy money and other people made (insert word here) movies. And dance flick was made by the wayans' nephews.

And Tyler Perry is a product of Oprah. He's a fucking hack who doesn't screen his movies for critics, because he "doesn't make it for them." That's the same excuse that hack stephanie meyer uses when she "writes for herself" That's your standard "we suck" excuse

I doubt you'll find it on any DVD in the US anytime soon...

My point was, they started a certain type of movie that was basically re-done 100 fucking times yet people still see them (and somehow enjoy them each and every time). That's basically what Tyler Perry does, just with different people and a different time of year each time.

This is a great post. I think I've seen almost every movie on there and they are all fantastic. Props for mentioning Spirited Away -- that's a phenomenal film that's often overlooked. Children of Men is incredible as well.

Fight Club is my favorite movie since 1999. Simply perfect -- one of the few movies I've ever seen which actually exceed the novel.
