Kobe and Shaq over Hakeem is sheer insanity.
Barkley and Hayes over Robinson?
Shaq over Magic?
Oscar and Shaq over Kareem?
There is too much fail in this "article".

kobe and lebron are waaaay too low and hakeem is waaaay too high. and where is steve francis? garnett should be in the top 5 just on his intensity alone. and srsly why is j kidd at 28? that guy should be somewhere around jerry west. for fucks sake he only averaged 13.8 ppg and 9.2 apg on 40% field goal %....what the hell does a guy have to do to get in the top 10 of all time? shoot over 41%? fuck that!

im canceling my subscription just because they had nash at 50. pathetic
shaq shouldn't be that much ahead of duncan. i can entertain the argument that shaq was slightly better than duncan in their primes. however, both won four championships, 3 finals mvps, but duncan won one more mvp than shaq.

To be fair, Shaq was robbed in 01. Then again, so was Duncan in 99.

Looking at that list, there's no way Dirk shouldn't be on it.
Nash being on that list is debatable, but Rodman?

Duncan is better than Shaq ...
Serious question...Shaq above Tim? Why? How? I'm being very serious.
Shaq was just more dominant. He changed rules. Tim was great no doubt, but he could be stopped if you put sum1 long with a very high basketball IQ on him (very difficult), but there was nobody who could stop Shaq 1on1 without fouling when he was in prime. In fact there were very few who could stop him from just backing them down and dunking on them

If Shaq played in Mikan or Russell's era he would have averaged 70 points a game.
Serious question...Shaq above Tim? Why? How? I'm being very serious.
in their primes, shaq was more dominant than duncan. duncan had a more all around game with strengths in defense, offensive moves, rebounding, passing, and shotblocking . but shaq was just a better scorer because he could back down anyone and hit any over the shoulder shot and he was a good rebounder/shotblocker. he didn't have to develop creative ways to score or add a jump shot because it just didn't matter. no one could stop him without fouling. i say right now they are about even. however, once duncan wins one or two more championships, he will move ahead of shaq.

Shaquille O'Neal takes nothing seriously. It's his blessing and his curse. It's why he can entertain millions of fans with his comedy, dancing and critical observations. It's why he can miss more than 5,100 free throws in his career and never win a rebounding title. It's part of the reason why Steve Nash met with general manager Steve Kerr in New York on Thursday, as the point guard wants some roster assurances before moving forward with a contract extension. The problem isn't a personality clash. It's that Nash and O'Neal can't co-exist on the court. You could not piece together a worse combination to defend the pick-and-roll, one of the most elementary plays in the NBA. It's one of the glaring flaws in this basketball team, and for that and other reasons, O'Neal must be traded in the coming months. When it happens, you wonder what he'll type next. ... Trading Shaq can and should work for everybody. In Phoenix, there will be some addition by subtraction. And in the tough-luck town of Cleveland, fans are already atwitter with new hope. Just wait until the big guy wants his touches."
From the Phoenix paper ...and why he is NOT top 5 ...seems everyone wants to forget the sweeps, pettiness and crappy FT shooting and lack of boards because of the 3 rings and because at time he is hilarious ...

Oh and BTW....Steve Francis should not even be allowed in the same magazine as the top 50 of all time.

lol..ok..even if we're pretending that you're right, you still haven't said what makes Shaq a better player overall than Tim. What does Shaq have that is so much better that overrides the fact that Shaq has no jumpshot, and is a much worse FT shooter than Tim. Tim has a better skillset in the paint. Shaq just backs people down. How is Shaq better?

Shaq's way more athletic than Tim. Shaq from about 98-02 could just raise up and dunk on anyone if he was within 5 feet of the basket. Tim could jump about 6" in his prime (David Robinson used to make fun of Tim and his vertical).
baseline bum

Shaq vs Tim
Scoring efficiency: Shaq easily. In his prime if he got the ball within 8 feet, game over. Either a quick 2 or a trip to the FT line.
Scoring: Shaq easily. He's by far the most unguardable player I have ever seen on the block.
Passing: Tim.
Ballhandling: Tim easily. Duncan was the main ballhandler on the break for two seasons, which I could never see Shaq do.
Defense: Tim clearly. Shaq got lazy on the defensive end too much. Tim's ventured into that territory too hte last year or two, but he didn't in his prime.
Rebounding: Even. Duncan averages a board a game more, but he's also 4 years younger.
Tough call, but I'll give the edge to Shaq because he could foul out another team's frontline like no one I have ever seen while still shooting a high percentage.
Better basketball player: Tim Duncan
More dominant: Shaq, I mean shit if he got the ball on a post up, it was basically a guarnteed scoring oppurtunity. But I'm still gonna say Tim will end up the better player and Tim > Shaq.

Duncan is a better athlete and all around player than Shaq. Can't forget the times when you would barely graze Shaq's jersey and he's at the foul line.

06-20-2009, 04:49 AM
not even that. Russell, Hakeem, Kareem, Chamberlain, and Mikan are ahead of him. He's the 4th best C in Lakers history.
Russel would get destroyed by Shaq, Russel=6'9" 220 Shaq=7'1" 350
end of discussion. Besides Russel was a Celtic not a Laker
Mikan even in that era against tiny competition only shot like 40%
End Of Discussion
Shaq had a slightly longer peak than Hakeem, so i give Shaq the nod over Hakeem.
Wilt and Kareem were better than Shaq though

It doesnt matter is Duncan has great fundamentals, because Shaq was just more dominant...No matter what. In 01, Mutumbo was the DPOY, and he couldnt stop shaq for a second in the finals. Not one second. You dont see Duncan EVER being that Dominant, not for a second
