Do people overrate a player because they've been on a championship team??
Case in point, when posey signed with the hornets everyone was all on his jock about what a leader he was going to be yadda yadda yadda and he got paid IMO way more then he was worth. Does being on a championship team make you that much of a better player?

I mean would everyone really think Duncan was the best PF to play the game if Malone won those championships instead of timmy??

Everyone is saying how good Ariza is and how he's gonna get paid but is he really any better than Pietrus??

Listen winning a championship is the ultimate prize and all that contribute should enjoy being the best but can being on a championship team really place you above a mediocre player when in fact you are just a mediocre player?

Yes.

But Duncan is not a good example. Duncan deserves the praise he gets.

I think you have it in reverse. Players without championships are already over-rated. The Championship validates their being over-rated.

Like Posey, he's not over-rated, he put in two great stints at Miami and Boston. He's a great ROLE player and he got paid as a role player..something like $5 million a year I think.

IF Karl Malone had 4 championships instead of Duncan, Karl Malone would be the GOAT Power Forward, not Duncan.

Ariza IS better than Pietrus because Ariza found ways to help his team win while Pietrus didn't. All NBA players are talented and gifted. The worst scrub in the NBA could probably put 100 points up against your 5. But very few have the mental makeup of a winner.

Ariza will get paid....as a talented role player. There's no over-rating there.

Teams win championships, not players.

yes, definitely.

the ugly truth in sports is that most athletes dont give a shit about winning championships. Its really just the money, endorsements, and free pussy that they get.

Especially with trades and free agency, nobody cares about team loyalty. Ever wonder why a player like Stephen Jackson leaves a championship team for one of the worst (Hawks)?

Winning is overrated when you don't consider the circumstances(Chauncey Billups for example)..most "winners" are ranked appropriately though, and you can make cases for them in more ways that just that..

for example, yes Duncan has more rings than Malone, but he was just the better all-around player in general..more importantly, he was a MUCH better playoff performer, which can be linked to winning..

I'd say there's a lot of overrated players with no championship. See the Suns team of a few years back.

Yup, people tend to do that with Manu

Jordan without Pippen would have never won a title nor would he have won those 5 MVPS he would just be one of those many Great scorers without a title.

You fucking honestly think Jordan could have gotten those rings without PIppen.

I'm sure of it...but that's not what you said...you said you don't think Jordan would have won a single title without Pippen..that's just idiotic. You don't think the best player of all time would have ever won a title without a guy who was half as good as him?
