I hope they get Sam Young but I don't who they can get a first round pick from.

If they don't get a first round pick, i think they'll go for Green

If they get a high enough pick (15-20) in the first round I think they're targeting Young. But if it's a later pick (21-26) I think they snag either Jerebko or Brown.

But who I think they'll end up drafting is Summers.

Sam Young. No question.

If he's actually compares favorably to Josh Howard and is already one of the toughest defenders in the draft class, it's a no brainer.

I'm expecting them to do whatever is necessary to move up into the mid to late 1st round to accomplish this.

I hope for Sam Young, but, never quite know what to expect from our beloved Spurs come draft day. A favorable trade will, of course, have to happen and who knows if anyone wants to help us this year.

Funny how that 1st round pick, that they so foolishly traded away, is now worth them having back.

Memo to the Spurs FO:
NEVER, EVER, trade away a 1st round draft pick, when the average age of your team is on the north side of 30.

Sam Young. Would be a 1 round steal if goes around 20th

kbrury

So for the people who picked other, who is it?

manu_maniac

I hope we can draft one of these three: Omri Casspi, Sam Young, or Danny Green. But if we are even able to draft any of these players, I think we have the best shot at signing up Austin Nichols.

To help sell the point on Young, see the following. Especially the Youtube vid.

That should answer any doubts.

I agree 100%, Sam Young should be the number 1 choice if they are able to buy a pick. I wonder if New Orleans would sell their pick to a divison foe probably not though. He seems to have a nice personality off the court, supposedly a decent poet

Supposedly Detroit and New Orleans are looking to deal their 1st round pick. The Hornets would be an attractive partner because they want no part of taking on the additional salary of another 1st round pick. They're trying to shave salaries at all cost and are willing to dump their pick for cash.

Expect them to again deal away Tyson Chandler for the second time in 2 seasons.

I voted Green...but now that I've read 48 Minutes of Hell and seen the highlights I'm kinda convinced about Young. He seems like a good player. If we don't get him I'd still like Green...I don't know why.

The Spurs SHOULD go for Green or Young.

but they'll go for someone no one knows about.

I think the top choice should be Young, but we all know Pop is in love with Claver. I would really, really like Young, though. I'm officially sold on him.

Please don't give away anymore first round picks, its hard finding mock drafts that include the second round.

That's quite a high pick to grab for a team with nothing to give up realistically for such a high draft.

None of these players will sniff anything beyond Austin or the inactive list next season.

Let's start welcoming back Mike Finley then.

If I understand this correctly you are saying we are being unrealist? I understand that. I mean chances are that Sam Young will not be at 37. But I believe the Spurs will trade up to get the 18th pick from the T-Wolves.

What I'm saying is trading into the first round is highly unlikely without giving up Parker or Ginobili because we don't have anything else (realistically) worth a 1st round pick

Spurs do not have to trade a player to move up in the draft they can buy a pick. With that said we all know how tight the spurs are with $. Most teams wanting to move down are trying to move down so they can avoid paying another salary and thats why they would prefer $ over a player usually.

So, the only options are late 30s players or totally green ignorant draftees? I think there will be non-marquee FAs available that will fit somewhere in between.

You think a rookie can crack the Spurs rotation without some sort of catastrophic injury situation? That would make you the idiot.

If the spurs got either Casspi or Young, they'd be our starting SF by the end of November unless they were complete busts, which could be very possible :wakeup

Maybe young but no way Casspi is ready to start in the NBA. I dont even think Casspi starts on his present euro team .

Incorrect. The Timberwolves have around 8 or 10 players who are 25 or younger. They need a vet and get rid of their picks. Since there is a new GM for the Wolves I can see him giving the first round picks for cheap because h wants to gain some favors to be used in the future.

what Vet will we give for...

Yeah, I've also heard that ATL is shopping their pick (#19), at the cost of taking Claxton's 80% insurance covered salary for next year.
