Some crazy rumor just heard that would actually work for both teams with Cleveland cavaliers and new jersey nets. In a deal nets will send vince carter along with another player for ben Wallace, sasha pavlovic and jj hickson. As a GM would you pull the trigger

No, because Vince Carter isn't good enough to push the Cavs over the hump.

Vince Carter being a team's second best player looks alot better than Mo Williams being a team's second best player.

Cavaliers glaring hole is the 2 spot. West is a good player but too short and skinny to defend other 2's.

Carter could be Lebrons Pippen. Could be a scary combo if they both team up....

If vc would have played with lebron for like 3 years already. Lebron would of had at least 1 championship ring

Carter's too old.

Yes, you make that deal if you're Cleveland. It doesn't guarantee anything. But, it's still an upgrade.

Agreed. Mo Williams choked big time in the playoffs and at least Carter can still be the main guy on a playoff team.

Not to mention it would give them 3 legit ball handlers on the floor at the same time.

Sucks that NJ doesn't get any talent back but that's a great deal for Cleveland. Doesn't put them over the top or anything but VC will definitely help. If they make that deal that means no Shaq in Cleveland though.

How old is he

It can't hurt them, they won 66 games in 2009. Lebron can also rest at times and let Carter run the team. Not sure if it is enough to put them over the top, but it helps if this deal gets done.

Yea it does put them over the top in the East in my opinion.

Williams
Carter
James

is a backcourt combo that i dont think anyone in the league can come close to competing with. Carter is a great teammate and a clutch performer. James needs help and he could get it with Vinsanity.

I think if the Cavs had the choice Shaq would be a better fit, mainly because he brings championship leadership and can be the Cav's low post scorer, which is something the cavs had with Boozer for a short while but never when LeBron was in the playoffs.

Still VC would put that team over the hump for this year if you asked me.

True, they do need a low post scorer. Shaq would help in that department. Except the Suns organization last I heard wants value back for him instead of just a salary cap move.

If they don't get any bigs...it won't matter.

Bosh > Carter

He needs a big, not another wing man

Bosh > Carter

If only they could get Bosh for Wallace and Sasha. Stern can work wonders for superstars though, just look at the Pau deal.

The Nets would not entertain such a trade. Reasons are that Nets want LeBron to go to them in 2010, not stay in Cleveland. Secondly, they would be getting nothing back while giving up Vince Carter. If this happens, it is worse than the Gasol trade.

You make that move if you have other moves you plan on making to get some good quality bigmen in there. If they land VC and keep Z/Varajeo etc, they will be anally raped by Dwight Howard yet again. They have more than 1 hole in that roster and it is going to take 2-3 quality trades to put them in the elite class.

being a Nets fan, I don't see why Nets would trade VC to the Cavs, on the other hand, if it helps the cavs win I'd love it. I'd trade him to cavs before other teams. But I don't think Nets will, I don't think they want to let go of him that much to take any garbage players, maybe if they get a good deal kind of like the Kidd trade I think that's the only way they would trade him

Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic and JJ Hickson for Vince Carter? Normally, Yes.

But VC is 32 years old and he gets paid $18 million when he's 35 years old. That contract is pretty harsh and would lock the Cavs in for the next 3 years. If it doesn't work out the Cavs are REALLY screwed.

I say no, wait for a younger, $18 million star to come in next year's free-agent market.

Actually Carter's contract is favorable, I think it becomes non guaranteed towards the end.

No truth to these rumors apparently.
