I mean, is he like the second coming of The Admiral? Are those rumours of the spurs trying to move up the draft to take him if he is available? Would he be a good fit?

Not the 2nd coming of the Admiral. He isn't that good on offense. But he would fit right in with Pops defensive gameplan as close to a Robinson replacement as the spurs have had on the defensive end.

He is at least at this point Dikembe Mutumbo 2.0

He is very young and may still be able to develop a very good post game so the upside is tremendous. He is a defensive force and more mobile than Greg Oden. At least he's not made of glass.

The Spurs do not have any assets to trade up into the top 5-10. They aren't dealing Manu.

I'd give up T-Mac for a crack at this guy.

Seems overrated due to weak draft, and also looks like fame might have already gone to his head.

It looks like he would be a Chandler-like or Canby-like center. Great fit for Spurs.

The concensus seems to be . . .

He has all the physical attributes to be a defensive force. Great potential.

But he has zero offensive games (really, zero). And he tends to disappear for long stretches. Despite the upside, he could be a bust.

If Memphis takes this guy, Darko Milicic could be available -- the Spurs should look long and hard at Darko. :)

He is just learning to play basketball.
Has a high basketball IQ and his body is build for power.
He could be special.

Comparing him to The Admiral is foolish though.

I project......Theo Ratliff type.
I'll take that but i'll take anybody who can block a shot or guard a chair here in PHX.

Yup. I'm from and still live in Ct so I gotta rock with the 'beet'. He will develop to be very good. His jumpshot is ok also. He finishes at the rim and can block shots without A conscious. No way he comes here. Spurs wont know what to do with him:lol

It's kind of a moot point since the Spurs would have to negotiate a buy out from The Go Go's and they'll be gun shy after the troubles with Scola and Splitter.

It said in his scouting report that he took only 14 jump shots ALL SEASON.

Thabeet cancels workout because of shoulder injury (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=txthabeetshoulder&prov=st&type=lgns)

Hasheem Thabeet has canceled a pre-draft workout with the Grizzlies because of a shoulder injury.

The Grizzlies didn’t immediately say whether they would reschedule Sunday’s session for later in the week.

Some draft projections have the 7-foot-3 center out of Connecticut going to Memphis with the second pick in Thursday’s NBA draft. Thabeet has already had two meetings with team officials.

Thabeet averaged 13.6 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.2 blocks (second in the nation) for the Huskies last season, when he was co-Big East player of the year.

A number of projections have him going to the Grizzlies with the No. 2 pick, others have Memphis taking Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio. The Los Angeles Clippers are expected to take Oklahoma forward Blake Griffin at No. 1.

No one wants a part of Memphis. Both Ricky Rubio and Hasheem Thabeet bailed out on their workout.

Memphis has a losing program. They don't know how to build a winner.
