Going to a casino next weekend and might actually gamble this time. :lol

Wondering what the spurstalk community thoughts are of gambling games, and reasons for liking.

Normally I puss out, play slots, and when I win buy a cigar or a bottle of scotch or something. Is it true that blackjack is the one true game a player has a mathematical chance at beating the house at? Gimmie some info, fellas.

I only play blackjack and sit at the slots for a while, mostly because I don't know how to play the other weird card games, roulette, or craps.

The house advantage in blackjack depends on the house rules and how many decks they use. Craps and probably baccarat have the next lowest house advantage. If you have a good handle on how to play, craps is definitely the most fun.

Blackjack under certain rules I believe you can have an expected win vs loss percentage of around 48-49% (w/o counting cards) if you memorize the correct moves to make in every possible situation, but who's gonna do that? And you're still going to lose money, as you lose more than you win and you can't ride out a bad cold streak. As for counting cards, any table that uses few enough decks to allow anyone but an incredible genius to count cards is likely going to offset that by paying 1.5:1 on blackjack and other crap like that. If you like gambling, then cool, but those lavish casinos weren't built by people making money off their trips.

If you learn the basic rules of blackjack, you should be able to last a few hours without losing your shirt. Just look at it as spending, not losing, money for your entertainment time and you won't be too butthurt after being down fifty bucks but drinking some fraction of that for free.

Video poker is the only machine worth playing for any amount of time as you have the tiniest amount of control over your chances. It's nice if you can find one that pays more for two pair than jacks or better. Always play the max since the payoffs are usually multiplied at that level. It doesn't happen all the time, but I made $105 off a nickel machine when I was near the end of my gambling budget a couple of Vegas trips ago.

If you are really trying to make money off of gambling, buy some stock in a casinio or get uber good at poker. I have neither the acumen nor the patience for the latter.

dont play blackjack unless youre a doctor, your dads a doctor, or you grew up in the country club, if you do- QUIT if youre up or down 40 bones, otherwise you might as well cut your dick off

play some poker, slots, video poker and craps

I wouldn't go into a casino and play blackjack cold without having as thorough a knowledge of the game as can be gained outside of a casino. If you do decide to do so, don't be a rube and sit down with $25 or $50 at a five dollar table and expect to stay around long enough to learn anything. A sufficient bankroll is, I believe, somewhere between 22 and 25 hands worth of betting cash. I usually sit down with $200 at a five dollar table, and buy in with $100. Occasionally, I have to do a second buy of $100 to keep playing. Usually, I play on the first $100, or I play on house money, which is the goal.

The most important things to learn are:
Go into a casino with a set amount of money to gamble that you can afford to lose in total, and don't bet even one penny more to try to win it back. Don't ever walk into a casino with money you need that month for anything other than pissing it all away at the casino.

Yeah I have a thing against gambling, I would never lose too much money and would always go in with a set amount to spend. Just curious what games ya'll play.

If I were decent I'd play poker, but I suck balls at it.
Usually I only sit in front of the cheap slots get free drinks and stare at chicks asses.

What do you think about roulette? I have a friend that says always bet on black.

I'm thinking of just walking in with my 100 bucks, betting it all on black, and if I lose, I'm done, if I win, I'll pocket the original 100 and just use the winnings of that to play nickel slots.

I wouldn't touch roulette if there is both a 0 and a 00 on the wheel. Reduces the odds too far under 50/50 since both of those are neither red nor black.

Craps/roulette are fun because there is a lot of interaction with other people playing. And I've actually made a lot of money in Vegas off of roulette, but the odds aren't on your side.

Black Jack is boring to me in casinos but not hard to make some money.

Poker tournaments are fun and if you are good enough, you can win a fair amount of money off a low buy-in.

I generally pass through Vegas twice a year and in honor of Wesley Snipes I always stop to put $50 on black. I've lost that bet like 5 times in a row now. I guess I'm due for next time.

I'll generally play a hand or four of blackjack, but I never win and I get scared after losing a few hands, so I quit and just watch people I'm with, or puss out with all the elderly and poor people at the nickel slots.

I've heard that baccarat has the best odds, but I've never played it and really, I've never even seen a baccarat table that I can remember.

Craps all the way. It's not too difficult to make a few bucks and it's a lot of fun.

I have no idea how to approach poker from a mathematical or smart perspective....and I haven't played a long ass time, I've only played with ya'll.

The creil system? You mean be blindly confident because I know I will always get full houses, flushes, and straights to bail me out? It doesn't work for me.

I know that. That's why I said odds aren't on your side for roulette. But I've made significant money from playing it and it's fun. I still play it in Vegas when we go, but not as much as poker these days.

No Limit Poker at the late times of the night, lot of drunk donks throwing away money at these times.

Blackjack, don't play at stupid tables. I love playing heads up. Play your rushes, don't play scared money. Grinding is not the way to go in blackjack.

By far Poker is the best if you become decent at it. You must have patience, and the ability to lay down great hands when you know you are beat.

If you like a little more excitement low buy in tourneys are the way to go because you can't be as patient and are forced to take more risks due to the blinds constantly raising. But if you cash you get a hell of a return on your investment.

Last week I played in two tourneys one $65 with no cash and one $150 tourney at Caesars where I made the final table third in chips and we chopped it up. I took home a cool $2800 for a $150 investment.

I personally loved playing roulette and craps. I won $1100 off of $60 on roulette once but I was on an incredible streak on betting the 1/3rds and pretty much let my winnings ride.

If you want to play craps and have an iPhone you can get some free apps that will teach you the rules and let you play sim games going in. But as always... Spend your money on the entertainment value of gambling for a bit and have a set limit and anything you win is just gravy.

My favorite game is craps. I'm about 6 grand up in my lifetime on that game and down probably on all the others. The strategy I use playing craps takes the fun out of the game, hurts your feet and pretty much puts you at odds with just about everyone on the table, especially the pitcrew and the craps "experts".

My system is so effective, that I really don't want to tell anyone what it is because if everyone uses it they will change the odds on the game and it won't work anymore, or it will be even more of a pain in the ass to implement than it already is.

I'll just give you this hint, do not listen to anyone citing the law of probability, and look at the odds on the table, the odds are where they are because if they were any higher the house would either make less money, or lose money. It's possible to put those odds back in your favor, it just takes a lot of patience to do it.

Blackjack: you can't make money in Vegas on blackjack unless you just plain old get lucky. Most of the counting methods and other systems used to beat blackjack are old and outdated and more importantly, the casinos are aware of them and don't let you do them anymore.

There was a time when you could beat the system playing blackjack, but it was a long time ago.

I don't know how to play any of those games. I think the slots are boring, so I usually just play the Draw Poker machines. After a few drinks, I start to "double down" :lol

I play blackjack when I first get there and win money most of the time, then I get drunk off the free drinks and play roulette which is basically a ATM machine for the casino, and by the end of the night I have no money left because I get the great idea of putting all my money down on black "20" over and over until I'm out, and even if it hits, I'm too stupid to walk away with my winnings
