..just because everybody else gets one..

:toast

well Oberto did contribute to a title..I enjoyed watching his passing, he was very good at that..

I've been a Kurt Thomas fan for a while, so it sucks that it didn't work out..

Oberto will forever get props for his 2007 playoff run. Unexpected yet awesome :tu

Thomas was vital in the 2008 series against the Suns and was probably worth 5-6 wins last year in the regular season.

Good thread. Props to both guys, and good luck.

Plus, there's still a chance, albeit slim, that we might see one of them back here again. We know Oberto will get cut. Perhaps Thomas gets bought out as well.

Kurt was always one of our best players any time we played vs. Phoenix..if he played like he did vs. Phoenix against every other team, he would have been a legit starter for us..

But without them, we're really lack of bigman and we don't have enough money to sign a good bigman. But I would be happy if Ian is our start center next season.

Thanks Fab, people vastly underrate your contribution in 2007, and you proved that a guy with a 1-inch vertical can contribute in the NBA by being a smart mover around the basket, and a tough defender.

Thanks Kurt, you've garnered a lot of hate around here, but I think you were our second most consistent player last regular season, and good the year before too. Always appreciated your toughness.

Very savvy players who knew how to play the game right. Fab is smart, active and a sharp passer who excelled at finding the right position to be in, just had a knack for it. Kurt is an intense brooding type with physiciality who you just don't mess with and has the respect of the league. Thanks guys.

Fabricio has been saying everyone goodbye on Twitter.

Oberto - Gotta love his IQ. He wasn't the most athletic player on the floor, but he played with heart and brains, two things that are overlooked in the basketball world.

Thomas - Professionalism, and defense. I still think Elson could have helped us more.

Fab has a great game. I will miss his sneaky backdoor layups.

Thomas was great too. Layed the lumber, hit his shots, and played good D against the true bigs the Spurs faced.

Both great players and great people.

He was also worth a few losses. He was equally terrible at times last season. Let's just say I won't miss him.

Both great players to watch for their positive, professional attitudes and love of the game...

Oberto- It was tough to hear him be sidelined with health issues recently, but I truly hope wherever and however he continues his career, he knows Spurs fans respect his contributions to our team and city. Loved watching him working the floor as an enforcer and not backing down from anyone.

Thomas- Fantastic work ethic and focus, a real team player that went out and executed as best he could. I was so excited when we picked him up because he was always so good playing against Duncan, really wish we could have gone further with him in the post-season.

right now the 2nd big is bonner and the 3rd mahinmi... i think oberto and thomas were good for 3rd and 4th string. I wouldnt discount the possibility of one coming back, but hopefully for that kind of role. I'd rather the FO roll the dice on someone else before bringing gooden back, but thomas and oberto know the system and the players and bringing one back depending on who else they can pick up is probably not a bad idea, for the right price (I realize thomas hasnt been bought out but it could happen)

I wish Thomas could stay. I really want him to get a ring in San Antonio. He may just end his career ringless. But thanks to him for being the best big outside of Duncan all year.

And to Oberto, thanks for the major contribution to the 07 title. Hope your health goes well.

Oberto was cool for 2007.

But I still have to say.....

Fuck both of them coat-tail riding bitches. GTFO!!!!

I would welcome back both in a 4th or 5th big role.

Oberto showed before his heart problem theres gas left, as did Thomas in the right situations.

Not relied on for big minuts, but situations and games, they can still hang.

Oberto was a huge part of the 2007 championship.

Relearn what a coat tail rider is.
