I just bought a MacBookPro 13" and got the iTouch with it.

I am a big noob with mp3 players so I was wondering where you guys get your music.
I'm mostly into rock/alternative but also like some hip-hop.

I used to use limewire, but I hear that's crap now. Maybe bearshare? I also hear that you can just drag songs from google or something like that...

Thanks for all helpful comments.

I go in on year long rapidshare accounts with a few friends. Costs us each about $20 a year. Last year I probably downloaded $700.00 worth of media. So it's not free, but considering, it might as well be.

I use Limewire and I can't see anything wrong with it. Everyone once and a while a song may be slow to download but that HARDLY ever happens...not to mention I haven't paid for a single song on my ipod so I'll tough it out whenever it is slow :toast

Go to http://vixy.net

Do not type in the www. , it doesn't work like that for some reason. lol

Scroll down and download the March 31, 2009 Beta Release for XP and Vista.

Install.

Then go to Youtube.com and search for the song you want.

Then copy the whole youtube link. (i.e. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmGgQ8fvIP8 , copy the whole thing that's in bold)

Run the program you just downloaded (vixy)

Paste the link into the bar.

Then in the drop down box where it says Converts to:, select MP3

Then select start.

Then it should convert and download it to your desktop.

You have to restart vixy over again if you want to download another MP3 file. It's not a hassle, vixy is a pretty small and fast program. Also some youtube clips have trouble being converted/downloaded, but that's rare and there are hundreds of youtube clips with the same song you need.

Demonoid's great for music, but piratebay torrents are more often better seeded.

yeah, but there's more junk over there. plus, you don't have to sign up for piratebay. hence, more seeders.

piratebay, the end.

If you don't want a low bit-rate then read the description before you download. I've gotten the entire discography of a bunch of artists at capped download speed. Downloaded so much stuff I haven't listened to it all.

however... it is extremely hard to get an invite there

simply get a torrent downloader, like uTorrent. then google for torrents. for instance, if you want to get a jay-z cd, then google "jay-z torrent", or "(insert name of CD here) torrent"

if you wanna get every single CD made by a particular artist, then google "(instert artists name) discography"
