I would lose a lot of respect for Pop if he ever went to coach the Lakers..he's way too good for such a classless organization..

Pop has specifically said that as soon as Tim walks out the door, he will be 15 seconds behind him.

Also when Tim Duncan signed his last extension, Pop responded with "DAMN! He screwed me! Now I have to coach another 2 years!"

Pop said he won't coach 20 years. That leaves sometime before 6 more full years.

I think Pop probably made the retiring right after Tim Duncan as a tongue in cheek statement. If the Spurs re-sign Tony Parker to a max contract after 2010-2011 and have a few pieces in position like Jefferson and a good replacement for Manu, then I think he defiantely continues to coach even if Tim walks away.

Because no one loves media attention and players with mega-egos more than Pop does..............

Depends if there is anything left after Timmy retires. I highly doubt he would want to be apart of any type of rebuilding process.

Hey the Lakers were able to make the shift after losing Shaq. Took some years but it happened. The Spurs will have to do the same once that time comes. With or without Pop.

Lmao, Lakers twin towers died and were reborn as Aldridge and gasol.

Lmao Kirby retiring before Tim

Lmao sticking around for Parker and Jefferson (although you can say kawhi is the player Jefferson was supposed to be)

Lmao Parker max contract

It took me awhile to remember who were considered the twin towers for the Lakers back then :lol

I used to think Pop was telling the truth there but later realized it was his sense of humor he uses all the time which is tongue in cheek, no way he was going to walk when Tim did because it would make it seem like he is a product of Tim and running away..... Pop is too proud for that IMO.
