I hope so. His last two movies were stinkers, but I really like his other stuff. The preview makes it look like one of those fantasy kung fu movies. I guess that's all right.

I collected the series and thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope Shyamalan doesn't go LSD flashback on this one, and let the story carry the day.

Even if it is good... it is doomed to fail...

And I love the cartoon series... it's brilliant

This review says it all:

"It is so bad that not only could Uwe Boll make a better movie than Shyamalan has done here, he already has."

This was actually going to be a family gathering for our clan; everybody wanted to see it, kids up to grandparents. The reviews may change things.

Im I the only one that liked The Happening? I thought that movie was pretty crazy.

People committing suicide in all these gruesome and sick ways like jumping into a lion's den or slitting wrists with a dull rock. I was pretty freaked.

The Happening was just boring as hell. And being afraid of trees and the wind is just stupid. The scenes where they tried to run away from the wind was just as stupid as the scenes in Day After Tomorrow where they were running away from global warming.

Same here.

While watching The Happening, I kept thinking the film would have had genius so-bad-it's-good potential if only Shyamalan had embraced the camp factor. Maybe he finally did it this time. In any case, I had absolutely no intention/desire to see this one until the comically horrible reviews came out. Now my curiosity may just be enough to get me to the theater.

The acting was bad. BAD. The script was horrifying. But some of the visuals were excellent and the fight scenes were pretty entertaining. Definitely not the worst movie I've ever seen - that honor still belongs to The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.

Oh, I see. No, they haven't seen any of those "non-vampire" movies. They do, however, get a real kick out of zombie flicks, especially the girl. No fear, that one.

The dialogue and character development was horrid in this movie. Something M. Night Shyamalan needs to address going further in his lackluster career. This movie should've been done better and it basically took the Avatar franchise and destroyed it. The visuals and choreography were good and with a little better guidance, could've been great. Shyamalan should've called it quits after Unbreakable...

This is true...

He must have some well-avant garde (wannabe) producers to keep giving him financing.

I could not get anything wrapped around The Happening or The Village.

My wife talked me into going to see this movie..............it was awful, dreadful, nauseating, shitty, crummy, garbage. I fell asleep 10 min. into the movie, and woke up towards the end where the little boy with the glowing arrow on his head made a tidal wave. Movie sucked big ass.

One thing's for sure - this was the final nail in the coffin of Shyamalan's career. Airbender was meant to be a trilogy; it'll be interesting to see whether "they" decide to make the others with a different director or just scrap the whole project. I could see this being kick-ass with a better script and director. Well, they might have to find better actors also. In this case, the viewing public would wholly support changing the entire cast :lol

Having not seeing the cartoon series, I had no idea what this movie was about, but I kept hearing negative reviews. I went to see it yesterday and I have to say that I enjoyed it. The premise itself was easy to follow. The acting was a bit shakey, but I imagine some of the actors were inexperianced. Overall, I thought it was good!

It's odd saying this as an adult, but the you can't really compare the movie to the series - the cartoon is so much better. There is actually a really humorous element to the series that was completely ignored during the script-writing process; it was (IMHO) one of the biggest detractions to the movie.
