(Spanish)"El propio Oberto conjugó el verbo en pasado cuando se refirió a su ex equipo: "Fueron 4 años increíbles. Conviví con Manu y tuve una gran relación con todos. Eso es lo que más me duele"."(English) Oberto himself used the past tense when he referred to his team: "They were 4 incredible years. I spent time with Manu and it was a great relationship w/ everyone. That is what hurts me the most."

(Spanish)Oberto ingresará por 48 horas en una bolsa de trabajo para tratar de conseguir una nueva franquicia. "Estoy acostumbrado a pelear siempre por algo. Me encantaría seguir en la NBA, pero no a cualquier precio. Quiero algo bueno, un equipo con pretensiones, o vuelvo a Europa"(English)Over the next 48 hours Oberto will seek a job with a new franchise. "I'm used to always having to fight for something. I would like to continue in the NBA, but not at any price. I want something good, w/ a team that has potential, or I will return to Europe."

He said he'll look for a good situation on the NBA or he'll be back to Europe.

Maybe is another CIA move

Possible cheap big man to back up Yao?

Orberto was/is a very smart player. He has a decent jump shot, but didn't shoot too much. At times I would like his slapping at the ball and at other times I hated it. He always seemed to be at the right place at the right time, but most have that has to do with his basketball IQ. I will miss him against teams like Dallas and Phoenix. The Spurs have to move on though.

So does this mean he is leaving on bad terms with the Spurs?

Not at all. And his return to the Spurs is not ruled out yet. His agent (Rudoy) just said it's too early to talk about re-signing with the Spurs come July 1st.
He hasn't been bought out by Detroit yet.

Pop is a gentleman! Manu... is Manu! :toast

That's basically the same thing Bruce Bowen said except he said it in English, they can't go right out and say "The Spurs told me I'd be traded and then waived by my new team/bought out and then I'd come back and re-sign with the Spurs".....

As Jerry Stackhouse proved, now is not the time to talk about returning to the team that just traded you.

Oberto is smart enough to give the right quote. I'd say it's 50-50 on him coming back. I'd take him - if only for the one Manu-Oberto connection and two smart tip-backs that the Spurs get from him each playoff series. That would provide a lot more to the team than other end of the bench stiffs the Spurs have had in the past: Bateer, Blab, Jones, Brick, etc.

What's the point of revamping the roster if the Spurs plan on bringing back everyone once they're waived?

No need to use the MLE on a big man if Oberto and Thomas are running right back here once they're waived.

Do we still need to wait 30 days from their anticipated release to officially resign them like during the regular season, or can we sign them right after the release/buyout?

I am going to miss Oberto as well...

I really liked his savvy basketball skills especially like another poster said being at the right place at the right time. He made some pretty smooth passes at times and hit some great shots. My problem was i didnt think he shot enough being so close to the basket and with his finesse type close shot i thought he would have made alot more than he woulda missed.

Anyway, aside from his play on the court, ive heard and read that he is a class act and great person. Im sure he will keep in touch with Manu, Pop, and the rest of the team...and hey, if he does go to Tao, maybe he can continue to reassure Splitter that he needs to get his tall ass to this side of the pond.

Thank you Fabricio and I hope we get to see you on tv against our boys sometime!:toast

The Spurs would have to wait 30 days. That's another reason I don't expect any of them back unless the Spurs strike out with free agency.

The Spurs new attitude this summer is to revamp the roster and be aggressive with all the tools available to them.
