If Memphis picks Thabeet with the Number 2 pick, do you think we could swing a deal of Mason or Hill for Mark Gasol?

Mason and Bonner get a crap load of trade value the last day or so or somethin?

I like this idea! Just a couple more hours and we'll know.

No way I'd do it if it involves Hill.

Now, if it was Bonner, then I'd consider it.

this only works if we convince memphis that we are only doing this so we can flip Marc to the lakers for mbenga.

Bonner and Mason might bring back Darko. Gasol's contract is the same size as Bonner. Even Chris Wallace wouldn't trade Gasol for Bonner..................

They do. They're expiring contracts for people looking to salary dump to get in on the 2010 sweepstakes.

Of course, it'd have to be to a team that actually has a shot of landing someone, and has contracts that extend past this year, and would make the difference between a max and non-max offer...

Send them Bonner they need a PF and the contracts are an even swap.

Gasol has a lot of value and would be a perfect C for us... you cant to a Bonner for Gasol trade you have to offer value in return that is why I thought Mason or Hill made more sense.

I'm not sure why everyone wants to deal Mason. If Pop doesn't try to make him into a point guard again, I think he will improve next season, especially playing with a healthy Ginobili and Jefferson. Also, with Bowen gone (as far as we know) and perhaps Finley as well, the Spurs don't need to get too thin as far as perimeter shooting threats go.

Yes, if a good deal shows up, he's expendable. But moving him just because you need a big isn't a great idea, especially since the Spurs appear to be ready to use their MLE on a bigman.

No, this year would become a * one.

Great post as always, agreed 1000%.

Keeping him, having him in the starting 5 really would save the miles and workload on Manu.

I agree when he plays SG he's a good player/shooter. It will be exciting to see Jefferson slashing and kicking out to Mason for three all year.

Keep Mason starting at the 2. No way Memphis get rid of Gasol, not this time anyway.

+1

I think the reason things went south for him late last year was due to the PG experiment. You could tell that he just wasn't comfortable with it.

I'm wondering at this point who the backup PG will be......

Darko stinks . No soft white guys. Your not beating LA with Darko in the rotation.

Send a trade package for the 2nd pick and take Thabeet.

Thabeet would have more value than Manu for the spurs. People are already saying limit Manu's playing time. I'd rather have a solid frontline player like Thabeet getting starters minutes than Manu. Thabeet would be like the 2nd coming of Robinson on the defensive end.

Thats a steal. Manu is not that valuable.

Depends on how you look at it. With regards to winning now is it a steal? Overall I would say yes, but the win now part I am not sure.

Yeah...you probably wouldn't win now...but it would be one to think long and hard about.

Yes its a steal. Thabeet will be a starter right away on the spurs and so will OJ mayo who will be a solid player in his 2nd season. Memphis would not even trade Mayo for Manu straightup. You are over rating Manu.

Overrating Manu against a rookie and an unproven draft pick? Classic rascal.

george is probably the best perimeter defender currently on the team.

Had we merely drafted Gasol instead of Marcus Williams, we wouldnt have this thread about hypothetical scenarios.

Plus, we wouldn't have had to trade away our first this year and Barry for Thomas....

Just think of the 2010 front line of Duncan, Mahimni, Gasol, Splitter, and Gist....that would have been, LEGEND, wait for it, wait for it, ARY!
