Ohhh, we're talking about a jersey! Now I see.

but seriously, I'm not arguing for nor against it. I'm just putting it out there.

It should be like the NFL, where rookies wear crazy numbers like WRs wearing 19. He should be given 84.

Extra Stout

He should wear the number fish.

EricB
06-26-2009, 04:43 PM
Baseball is the same way.

Rookies and prospects get 60s through the 80s :lol

00 is retired, so does 00 = 0?

Good question. I've never seen a player with "0" and "00" on the same team. Not sure if it's ever happened.

If they're considered different by league standards, fine. If not, dude will have to try and sweet talk Johnny Moore for permission. At least I think that's how it works. Pretty sure the player/coach/etc. whose number is retired can give the okay for another player to wear it.

For example, Rod Strickland, Derek Anderson, Jarrett Jack and Ike Diogu have all had to get permission for Larry Weinberg to wear #1 for the Blazers.
(Larry Weinberg - Trail Blazers' co-founder and former team president. #1 was retired by the team in his honor.)

I don't think that meets league rules. I believe that our mascot only gets away with it as a personal favor since he is the best mascot in the nba.

It seems someone that came through here in the Duncan era wore 0 already. It didn't get retired though like Johnny Moore's 00.

According to Basketball Reference, no Spur has ever worn #0.

How come nobody ever picks a number like 37 or 49 or 62?

Someone should do that twitter tweet thingy and let him know. Great idea. Save #37 for Blair.

Blair was 45 in college, so I see no reason why he would change.

Good number. The last 45 I remember was a pretty good shooter, and very clutch.

Chuck person? Clutch?

Yeah Person won many a games.

Forget his time as a Pacer and his head to head stud matchups in the playoffs against Larry Bird?

I figured he'd go with #33 but if Oberto doesn't come back?

I'd say go for the old # 7, with a name like Jack. :smokin

IIRC, didn't the greatness that is Jackie Butler, rock the #45?

Chuck person? Clutch?

Absolutely. The Spurs didn't lose any close games that year they won 62. Person shot 40 percent from three point range during his stint with the Spurs, .40 above his career average.

I didn't remember Jackie Butler, because he wasn't memorable.

Blaspheme! :lol

He's been compared to House so much that 50 would make sense but there might be one or two people that would object.:hat

I think 51 would suit him quite well, though.

Let him always be reminded where he was drafted...

I kind of like the idea of constantly being reminded of where you were drafted, when you feel you've been slighted.

37 and 51 would suit Blair and McClinton nicely.

I think McClinton will have a shoot out with Gilbert for the title of Agent 0.
Hell ya. But Gilbert is a sniper.
