Do the Pistons even care about defense anymore?

This makes driving Odom's pricetag up harder, no? Or are they are getting rid of Rip?

It's a shame what has happened to the Pistons.

I knew this would happen. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hamilton shopped around the league.

For that price I doubt Chicago is overly upset at seeing him go. Good player, but that's a lot of cash.

I thought they were trying to shop Hamilton AND Prince? With Chauncey gone, Wallace soon to be, and who gives a shit about A.I, I also feel sorry for this once dominant team. They looked so strong there for a while earlier in the decade...

It does look like EVERYBODY is leaving the city of Detroit.

Truly is a shame. It's just plain wrong what happened to them. We're so lucky to be Spur fans...

And to think, I used to think Dumars was one of the better GMs in the league.

Shows how much I know....... :lol

Gordon, Prince, Hamilton, Stuckey...not a bad starting 4. If they can get a decent C to join them and some bench depth, the Pistons will have re-tooled themselves pretty well.

The only problem with that lineup is that there is no PF. the tallest is Prince and he's a SF.You would have Hamilton and Gordon battling for minutes at SG. It doesn't work.

I figured as much when I heard that Detroit did not even contact Hedo.

False...prince is too thin to play PF against the likes of Tim and Kg, etc.
Stuckey isnt the greatest PG in any measures and Gordon and Hamilton play the same position

Stuckey is a beast, had a lot of very good games last season.

Word is they are going after Charlie Villenueva. They would have to be shopping Hamilton for a big if that is the case...

Hamilton for Finley/Mason/Bonner?

I thought we were in a bad economy.

Based on this crazy deal, Odom should get 36/3 yrs now. Hedo should get 50/5 yrs.

Didn't he turn down the Bulls's offer of $50MM for 5 years in 2007 and then of $59MM for 6 years in 2008? Instead he signed a qualifying offer of $6.4MM this past September?

Gross.

Gordon is barely a player. He's clutch but Detroit may not even need a clutch player, they won't be viable enough.

Rip Hamilton goes where?

Dumars' reputation has returned to 'about mediocre' at best.

Ben Gordon is one of the BIGGEST BALL HOGS in the NBA. No thanks. Tuff as nails but when gets the ball, he's going to shoot it. Bad shot or not.

He is a close Friend of Isiah Thomas ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

A Pair of Mistakes:
He pick Milicic over Carmelo Anhony
He trade Iverson for Billups

Now he can sign Gordon and trade Hamilton

Jackie McMullen of Around the Horn, just proposed the notion of the Piston's trading Hamilton for Boozer? This would surely help the Piston's size problem.

With the Jazz wanting to sign Millsap, and cut $ can we swoop in for Boozer some how?

does free agent can not be sign before July 8?

No.

But interesting proposition for the Rip trade, though.

You can't really call Iverson for Billups a mistake because Dumars went in knowing full well that he was making that deal for the sole purpose of having cap room this offseason.

f**k sh*t. Gonna miss him as a Bull! This frees up Rose a little more and if we lose Ben (which looks likely) keeping Hinrich now is a must.

Pistons strike deal with Gordon

The Detroit Pistons have reached agreement with free-agent guard Ben Gordon(notes) on a five-year contract worth around $55 million, a source with knowledge of the talks told Yahoo! Sports Wednesday evening.

Dumars is overrated, he traded the heart (Billups) of the team away, and now he is continuing to make bad decisions

I dont get it, doesnt Dumars pay attention to the NBA...these type of one-dimensional ball-hogs always end up fucking up teams. Just look at AI and Marbury, theyre completely worthless now. He just had AI in his backyard this year too so Dumars should know better than this. They wouldve been better off going after Hedo or maybe Odom.

Wow, if true $55/5 seems like overpaying for an undersized SG to me.

I remember seeing Boozer for Hamilton speculated on a Jazz board a month or two ago... sorry I don't have the link.

It's a shame I really liked the Pistons after 05. I'll never forget their starting 5 of the Wallaces, Prince, Rip, and Billups.

As much as I hated them, I really liked the way the Pistons played a few years back. Now, they've completely turned things around and are headed in the opposite direction. They went from a defense-first team, to a team that looks more offensive-oriented. I'm losing the respect for the Pistons that I once had. Joe Dumars has no idea what he's doing anymore.

Gordon spent the first part of his career with a rebuilding Bulls team, and now just as they are becoming somewhat relevant again, he leaves for the once relevant Pistons just as they enter rebuilding mode.... I guess he really likes vacationing in late April/early June.
