Rockets 2010-2011 Tankapalooza Draft Thread

Rockets going down fast. The ship is sinking. At best with Yao out of the lineup, the best we are going to do is win 20-30 games next year. Here are the best prospects in the draft for next year. I still say we need to draft bigs but if we are the number one draft pick, then we I'm not sure we can pass up John Wall. The guy is incredible. Rockets have 1 first round draft pick and 2 second round picks.

By the way, T-Mac's expiring could be huge for 2010. I don't know if it's a good idea to trade him now. Because 23 million dollars coming off the books would give us huge flexibility.

Indazone, there are 4 months before the season starts, alot can happen between that time. It looks like Morey is rebuilding and trying to stay competitive at the same time. He is doing a hell of a job considering the circumstances. Think outside the box for a minute:

1) He is not trading Mcgrady for junk. He wants fair value for him, so the longer he holds on to him, a team or two is gonna get desperate (cough cough, SUNS) then he can get more value for him if he waits then if he pulls the trigger now

2) He lets Artest walk. Artest is a hell of a player, don't get me wrong, but he is not worth what he thinks he is, and his chucking up of the ball cost us alot of games

3) Going after Ariza says that he is trying to build a more athletic team, even though chances of him signing with Houston are remote.

4) Nobody expects anything out of this team now that Yao is having surgery, so if he can put a team on the court that won't tank, and be all about heart and hustle, then we should be satisfied.

5) He is not going to compromise the money available for the 2010 season.

The one big contract the Suns have beyond this year is Jason Richardson, 2nd biggest contract beyond this year is Barbosa. If Houston wants to trade T-baggin' T-Mac for those two, be my fuckin guest.

Why not? With Yao Ming's future in doubt, who are the Rockets going to be able to lure with a supporting cast of Battier, Brooks and Scola? With as many as a dozen other teams also opening huge salary cap for 2010, Houston may or may not be one of the most appealing destinations for free agents. Save that cap space for 2010, and the Rockets may have to settle for free agents much lower down the list, like Josh Howard and Al Harrington. Will it have been worth it?

That helps with paying him his salary. It doesn't help with the risk he carries of not playing, and there are some teams that wouldn't give up more value specifically because of that risk of him getting hurt and not playing, not because of his salary.

Some value. The teams that are really clearing up space for 2010 have already done so. And, a bloated expiring contract alone won't necessarily get good value in return. Would it be worth also trading a young player like Brooks, Landry, or Lowry and/or future first round draft picks in order to get a quality player in return.

Who are the Minneosta Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies teams that could do something like give a KG or Gasol in return for T-Mac and fillers? Look for bad teams with poor attendance that have a star close to the end of their current contract who wants out or just unhappy with his situation or carries his own risks as well.

Do Rockets fans want a Baron Davis? Do they want a Gilbert Arenas? Does Michael Redd appeal to them?

I guess it depends on what you consider the right amount of "value" for T-Mac's contract.

I think something like T-Mac and Carl Landry for Tyson Chandler and Peja is something that could get done. Is that value for you?
