Damn, his dad is pretty tall. Too bad he didn't get a few more of those inches.

If McClinton is here due to Pop loving his defense, that's a really good sign :tu

He's facing long odds but it'd be nice if he can make the squad and show he's an NBA level player.

Kid is really relaxed, good sense of humor. Hope he sticks, he seems like he'd be a great teammate. Just stick those threes and play some D.

If he had a few more of those inches, we wouldn't have got him at #51. :toast

I'm pretty confident he has a future with this team. That stepback J of his is killer.

McClinton is going to contribute this year, he is lights out, if Pop says he can play D he will get some minutes. He also has a hilarious personality. I will try to find the video of him winning the college three point shoot out, it is funny.

If he were 6'4" or 6'5" he would have been in the top 7-8 picks.

What kind of impression did you get from R.C. on Jack's chances?

At first, I thought the fact that they did two seperate presser's for DeJuan and Jack might bode well for Jack's chances, but I guess it could also just mean they don't view them in nearly the same way, or they were just allowing a kid to have his own day in the sun...

If you or anyone else could give me a recap/highlights, it'd be much appreciated.:toast

"I think I can earn some minutes playing defense, then when the opportunity comes to get an open shot, knock it down."

Thats a good start right there

I like his attitude and i was pleased to hear that he wanted to focus on defense. Hill+ McClinton can be a good guard combo.

A bit off topic, but... Why isn't RC in Michigan giving Sheed or Dice a blow job?

R.C. seems to like him. Chances are (pending other players falling and such) McClinton would have been our 37th pick had Blair not been there.

I can't imagine the Spurs would have a press conference and give him a jersey if he wasn't going to make the team. His solid defense is probably what the coaches have the most confidence in.

I agree with Timvp that he has odds against him to have a successful NBA career, but then when I consider he only needs to be better than Jacque Vaughn to make a contribution on the Spurs, I feel like his chances go way up.

I like this Kid.. I think he has a VERY good shot of sticking to this team... If he is successful that makes Mason expendable...

I really don't think he'll have a hard time making the team. Spurs need some cheap options and seconders rounders are the best you'll get and theres still a lot of space on the roster. I don't see why he wouldn't

I was thrilled to see the Spurs use their first 2 draft picks on domestic talent. I say that simply from a "signability" standpoint and the Spurs track record the past 3 or 4 years with international talent.

George Felton was a good hire.

Question: I know you are small for your position, but do you think you can guard bigger regular-sized shooting guards?

Jack McClinton: I'm not a shooting guard. I'm a guard and with Ginobili coming in sometimes to run the point he can guard the two and I can guard the point guard. So you never know really until you get out here on the court to see how things are going to pan out.

Sounds like the coaching staff has mentioned the Ginobili pairing to him.

Name: Riley Morgan

Question: Hey Jack. What is your favorite tattoo, and why?

Jack McClinton: Probably the one on my arm. It is Proverbs 14:23. It means all hard work brings a profit, but mere talk only leads to poverty.

Question: Hey Jack, welcome to the Spurs! My question is: The Spurs' backcourt is already one of the best in the league. What unique skills will you add to the amazing group that's already in place?

Jack McClinton: Being a knock-down shooter, I can shoot the ball - but also on defense I'll look to bring the intensity on the defensive end.

Woohoo, he answered my question! :downspin:

I think it's good to see the two different players react to it their own way. It wasn't asked to the same guy twice... duh'
