Is a non factor. He's not even a good player. He was just one of the players that benefited from all the concentration on Kobe/Gasol. Like Fisher. He has to be left wide open to make shots. He won't do anything on the Rockets.

I wish Ariza went to SA just to see how Jeff would spin this.

I know this thread was started by SpursDynasty, but its amazing how fast lakers fans turn on a player who meant so much to the success they had this year. Ariza sealed a lot of games for them in the postseason, and for some reason Artest is seen as a better player? Fans need to just respect the guy for what he did for your team.

as much as i like ariza i would of loved him being a spur, ariza seems like a player that works off talent offensively.admit he is great defender and would defintly help if yao and tmac was there, but i see ariza as a younger shane battier, i dont see him being a creator offensively, besides a spot up shooter working off aaron brooks penetration, at least the rockets have someone now that can slow down tony parker

Just because it's a fact Artest can do more things then Ariza that doesn't mean Laker fans don't appreciate what Ariza did for us.

he left cause of money and now is saying he went to a place "where he is appreciated". kind of a shame for the kid. hometown guy but now he left cause of money and got screwed. he got the best cheers next to kobe in the parade. agents at it again in my book

Like what? Ariza is quicker defender, better shooter, better for team chemistry.

Artest man to man D is better, he can guard bigger players like LBJ, Melo, Pierce a ton better, Ariza gets abused by those guys. Artest shot threes at 39% last season, Ariza 31%, Ariza shot 48% in the playoffs which is great but I don't think you can judge by a month and a half and say Ariza is a better shooter, especially when Ariza has been a horrible three point shooter his whole career up to this past year. Artest can create his own shot as well, Ariza can't. Team chemistry is still something to be seen, we have no clue how Ron will act, which is a risk but could turn out great.

Of course Ariza has more upside and is more athletic but I think for the next season or two Ron is the better player but after that Ron will start to decline and Ariza will be coming into his own.

Artest creating his own shots doomed the rockets.

It's isn't something he'll be doing often with Kobe, Gasol and Lamar out there but it's something he can do better then Ariza, that's what you were tying to argue, wasn't it.

Ditty

Ariza should fire his agent. He has to be the only player in history to start on a championship team, get offered a deal, and leave the team for a team that might not make the playoffs for the same amount of money that his original team offered. This has never been done before.

If it came down to a last second shot, with it being one on one, i would take Ariza.

Do you even watch basketball?

Ariza was a great player for us. All his efforts are really appreciated. Ariza was a defender that cut the passing lanes and got steals. Ron is a much better one on one defender. Ariza shot 31% from 3 last year... Ron shot 39%. Odom and Ron were childhood friends and PJ is adept at dealing with headcases.

No issues .....

If the Lakers win the championship...

I'll leave this forum for life.

I am doing this to prove to everyone how much of a non-factor the Lakers are in the playoffs. They haven't accomplished anything. They just want to come out, shoot some hoops, and BS their way to everything. Not going to get it done in the Finals. Orlando will win the championship. There are no All-Stars other than Kobe on this Laker team. Not an intimidating lineup. Just a bunch of a jump shooters who score off Kobe double teams.

Artest has always been known as a poor 3pt shooter until he landed in Sacramento, I'm sure Ariza can do the same.

Ariza's stats from postseason compared to reg. season just goes to show how much other teams overcommit on Kobe. Ariza's FG% is just a product of that.

Lakers could have signed Matt Barnes to replace Ariza and Lakerfan would spin it somehow and say it makes the Lakers better and BARNES > ARIZA.

Its what they do.

Ariza was a scrub when he was on the Lakers and it helped Spurfans argument to why Spurs >>> Lakers. But amazingly, once he left the Lakers he became an irreplaceable basketball god. A toast to Intellectual dishonesty. :toast

Barnes>Ariza :lmao No Laker fan would say that, that's fucking retarded.

If the Lakers got Matt fucking Barnes to replace Ariza I think we would all be pretty damn depressed and pissed at Mitch. We're just all happy about Artest cause we replaced a great player with one that can step in and do most things Ariza can and even more, and it only cost the MLE, that's a good deal.

If it were up to me, I'd keep Ariza over Artest. But, if Mitch feels more comforable with Ron Ron, then so be it. I am not going to cry over this move.

Kobe has said he wants JVG as his next coach and most Laker fans agree, I wonder how that would work, JVG and Ron, lol, that's definitely two weird personalities not to mention throwing Kobe in the mix.
