Can the Lakers win 72? Of course thy won't have a problem steam rolling SA in the playoffs yet again, then curb stomping LeShaq in the finals.

Artest is pretty durable he'll play big minutes which will keep Luke off the court. Kobe already knows how to pace himself.

I'm thinking 72 is in reach if Bynum can avoid flying Kobes at his knee. That way Pau won't have to play 36+ a night like last season.

Your kidding right? If spurs get a Zaza, Sheed, or Mcdyess spurs back for #5. To be honest artest hasn't been as good the last couple of years. Artest is gonna beat the sh!t out of kobe or kobe is gonna bitch to get him traded ruins team chemistry , no title.

Why does Artest make you so confident? All you Laker fans said the only thing the Lakers have to do is re-sign Ariza and Odom to repeat. Now your overly confident after losing a guy that bailed you the fuck out TWICE in the Denver series and went on huge unprecedented scoring runs in the Magic series. Your such a front running pussy. Have fun reaching 72 with two psycho paths(kobe and artest), a soft big man in Pau, a center who's knees are made of paper fucking mashay and a point guard who couldn't guard another if 100 blow jobs depended on it. Your team is good no doubt, but like most said one of the weaker championship teams in recent years. They weren't tested, Yao was out, KG was out, Ginobili was out. You won in the year of injuries. So go suck another title out of the lakers ass.

Artest is perfect for the triangle. Phil Jackson is maybe one of two coaches that can handle Ron. He's capable of playing heavier minutes than Ariza which will keep shit players like Sasha and Luke off the floor.

Ariza was a solid roleplayer but Artest is a beast. In the triangle, next to Kobe and Pau his efficiency will sky rocket negating his biggest weakness while he can focus on being the defensive behemoth he was born to play.

Again, some people don't like to tell the entire story!!

The Spurs lost in the first round for the first time in 9 years. The Lakers lost in the first round in 2005, 2006, and 2007.

It happens to every good team once awhile.

I will take that ratio once in nine years.....

Don't forget the context when you are making a point!!

21 Douchebags - the front running fool who disappears at the first sign of trouble - kind of like Ron Artest, the TO of basketball. Just remember Mr. "Backdoor F'n Sweep" who disappeared from ST for months after last years implosion by the Lakers -

Ron Ron is a glorified role player who destroys offensive motion time and time again. Did you watch the playoff games where he just started hoisting threes too early in the offense set?

Kobe is one year younger than Manu - his skills will diminish very soon. Maybe he breaks down in a few years, but the combination of being 31 years old with an extra 3-4 years of NBA mileage on his legs. Kobe could break down in 2-3 years or 2-3 months at this point in his career.

King Phillip is in such bad shape physically he MAY have only one year of coaching left in him. Chaos ensues when PJ hangs em up because the new coach will be afraid of offending Kobe and getting thrown under the bus.

21 Douchebags will be shedding Derek Fisher tears (Spurs fans know what I'm talking about) very soon. And he'll disappear again.

Hey, 89 post moron. I was not talking about the .4 thing. Please watch game six of the 2003 Western Conference semis with about two minutes left in the game. Damn. so many Laker fans are uneducated and probably a bunch a teenaged fools. If only they would all crawl back under the rocks like they did from 2004 to 2007things would be better around here.

Spurs fan never lets shit go. Instead they continuously whine, spouting boring excuses about their team's past failure when facing the Lakers in the playoffs. I guess it's that insecurity about how their team will never be looked at as a real dynasty since they repeatably failed to repeat as NBA champions.

When history looks back, they'll remember Shaq and Kobe. The three-peat and the reemergence of yet another Lakers dynasty. No one will care about San Antonio's fluke titles during a few LAL down years. Your Team of the Decade, the Los Angeles Lakers.

Again, 21_Blessings,

Like most fans (including Spurs fans)...you don't tell the whole story.

When an organzation has won 4 titles in the last 10 years they are not fluke titles. You can say the Miami Heat championship in 2006...was a more of a fluke.

The Spurs have won the most games in the regular season in this decade and made playoffs in 12 straight years. Only getting knock out of the first round twice.

The Lakers were knocked out the first round three times.

Both teams have an argument for team of the decade. Again....I know you are blinded by your purple-and-gold sunglasses......but to have both teams can make a legit argument about the team of the decade and it shows there's no fluke from the Spurs end of the equation.

I respect the Lakers success.....and history will show the Spurs being one of the best during this era and TD will go down as one of the greatest PF to ever play basketball!!

Let's have some context....please!!:lol

Actually.....this Spurs fan is not insecure by winning not back-to-back titles.

The Spurs have won 3 of the last 6 titles. They are multiple champions no matter how you put it.

I actually think that argument is silly!!

If the only comeback is the Spurs haven't won their titles in a row.....I just laugh!!!

Those titles in 03, 05, and 07 count just like the Lakers titles in 00,01,02!!

If winning championships were so easy.....the Lakers would all the titles in this decade. Hmmm.....it been seven years since the Lakers won a championship. I bet Kobe will cherish all four of his rings even though he didn't get four in a row.

Again..people don't like to tell the whole story!!

Man, 21_Blessings really knows his basketball. Artest is indeed perfect for the triangle. The triangle is designed to emphasize holding the ball out top, letting the shot clock run down to 5 seconds, then putting one's head down and charging into the lane like a bull. That's why they call it the "triangle" -- it refers to the pointy tips of the bull's horns.

I love how Artest says that Kobe is STILL hungry and for you guys saying we are one of the weakest Champs ...ok ...whatever.
For the nerd heads let's not forget that Hollinger have them ranked in the top 10 (i hate Hollinger but many here quote PER and cling to Kobe's FG%)
Over 2 years we went to back to back Finals have lost only 7 games in each one with one title to show for it. Back to back HCA in the playoffs and the 2nd best record both years ...
We were the team to beat BEFORE Artest and will continue to be so ...
Ariza was agreat fit as a role player but where Artest helps ...when kobe or Gasol sits we still have a top notch defender and versatile scorer to pair with our bench ...

You gusy better pray Sasha doesnt find his jumper .(o for the Finals?) because we won it with nada from him and and 80% Bynum ..to add to all the post game we have ..wow. If he does I doubt we win 72 ...but a title will be ours aggain ...I love LA!!!

I do think outside consistent outside shooting is a concern we need Sasha to stretch the floor ...

Why mess with something good? Why not, if you can make it better? Ariza brings LESS to the table than Ron. As much as Ron chucks, Ariza's shot is suspect and most of his shots came from Kobe being double-teamed. They're Wide-open shots. Those same shots Ron has proved he can also make. Ron brings a tough defender who can guard stronger SFs the likes of Pierce, Carmelo, etc. that Ariza had trouble with.

Why make this move?
Because every other team is making changes and you can't just stand pat. Orlando has improved and Cleveland has made changes as well. Look at what happened to Boston after they won their championship. They thought they could coast to the Finals. Making minor changes, and an upgrade at that, can give a new focus to the team.

Artest willing to take a paycut to win shows me he really wants to help bring another championship to L.A.

I would like to hear Rockets fan opinions on Artest's play this season.

Toughness, occasional miracle shot, lots of poor decision making regarding shots, but very nice postgame inteviews ;)

Great defense but sometimes the occasional Kobe goes off on him..

Stop stealing my material. I'm the only Lakerfan with rights to "75 win ecstasy".

I'm upping the ante to "83 win Ecstasy" this year and working on a new sig already :lol

I highly doubt Artest will destroy team chemistry. When is the last time he's even really did that?

That's just wishful thinking on behalf of whoever says it will happen.
