I don't care about politics or anything like that but why does everything care so much about the Iranians?

Can you image the media craze that would happen if Michael Jackson was Iranian?

Perhaps because they're the biggest state sponsor of terrorism, have nuclear ambitions, and are led by a holocaust-denying tyrant.

Like Iraq, Iran has lots of oil, and the Brits and Americans oilcos that got kicked out want their hands on the oil.

Terrorism and nukes, like WMD, are smokescreens for oil lust.

Instead of using his ignorance as shield to protect him from the ideas of others (like many posters on this board), Steven is using it as sword to beat us with.

(The ignorance is probably only feigned, but really, who can tell?)

I once had something called a gelato crepe. As the name suggests, it was a fresh, warm crepe wrapped around a couple scoops of gelato. Like a dessert burrito of deliciousness.

I was just thinking -- where exactly would Iran destroy Israel without killing thousands of Muslims?

They certainly aren't going to bomb Jerusalem. You can't just nuke the place Mohammed ascended to heaven -- that would be rude.

The alarmists need to explain to me exactly how they think Iran is going to wipe Israel off the map.

Sabre-rattling, nothing more. The Jews are the enemy to many Muslims, right or wrong. Judging by the Iranian election, Ahmejajdjajdjadad won, by not by as much as he reported.

This tells me his message at least reaches a majority of the voting population in Iran. Its like Hezbollah (or was it Hamas?) being elected to Palestinian government...some things are just true, like it or not.

The public reaction to the results suggested the case might be otherwise in my mind.

Nonetheless, it's entirely possible Obama will proceed just as if the Iranian election were legitimate, and continue to let the chips fall behind the scenes in Iran.

Obama still has *strong words* and *economic sanctions* -- plus diplomacy -- short of military force.

We also have Israel to play the crazy card for us, so theres no need at all to refer to the dimensions of US force before it is needful.

Well, they COULD do it then rebuild it. Hiroshima looks great today.

Prypiat, not so much. Guess it depends on how badly they nuked it.

Tel Aviv is a fine target then. 3+ million people, 91% Jewish. Mostly European architecture and a major city.

Speculation doesn't matter though, as I imagine Israel has some of the most advanced missile defense of its kind. A bomb isn't getting dropped (if Iran even has an aircraft that is nuclear capably) and anything smuggled would be minor, hardly enough to wipe Israel off the map.

Talking heads is where I got that. Doesnt make it true, but it indicates that the election was close.

I wouldn't follow you all the way there, DR. The public reaction to the results suggested the case might be otherwise in my mind.

If close to half the voting population took to the streets in protest, to me, that means the other half voted for the guy who says the Holocaust didnt happen.

Which means they listen when he speaks and see him as a good leader for their people. Lets just say the minority candidate garnered 48% of the vote. That means 52% voted for AHmemendfjhgfdhsfadad. In time, that number may decrease, but right now, it hasnt.

To me, its still a little....off-putting that somewhere around half the Iranians who voted, voted for Ahmenejajdajdjadad. That means they agree with him.

Lets be pessimistic and say he totally rigged the elections and in reality, he only received 35% of the vote. Thats still troubling. But thats how a cunning politician operates in a theocratic government. Blame the sworn religious enemy and play to their faith.

Ahmad - i - nejad. Compound name.

Like Spanish. "Ahmad y Nejad robaron la elección."
