Huey Lewis made a TON of money off of that album, much moreso than your average artist with a mega-selling album. He comes from money, and produced it himself. :wow

Mercyful fate.....remember king diamond's voice? He's insane, lol
I saw something on austin public access from the 80's about how devil worshipping rockers are so bad and they talked about king diamond and mercyful fate like no other, that was the first time i ever heard of them

King diamond's voice is pretty scary sometimes though
i've downloaded songs from "Them" or "They" his solo album that was supposedly pretty good, but i didnt like it much
Never heard any real Mercyful Fate yet....maybe i'll try it out

You HAVE to listen to Mercyful Fate man...TRUST ME. IT WILL NOT DISAPPOINT. It can't.

Remember King Diamonds voice? Hell ya!! I have lots of his albums. I'm seeing him in concert in May down at the Sunset Station. King Diamond rulz!! His lyrics are questionable...but the music is insane man! Listen to it more.

Zakk Wylde just kicks ass man. He's, by far, my favorite guitarist

Gimme the rock!!

Kick it to me off the pick and roll,
Gimme the rock!!
Cauz I'll flash to the bucket,
Straight to the hole!

I got skills, I got soul, I got game.
Gimme the rock!!
Cauz I can create wreckage in the lane.
Turn my back,
Bang my chest,
And then stomp through the flame!

Gimme the rock!!

Yeah no lie. Seriously, where did you hear about those albums? Did your folks listen to that stuff or what?

I laughed for a while after seeing that.

And in response to the shaq lyrics:
Hey, it beats Kobe's!

I was just kidding about my choice for "Sports" by Huey Lewis. It is a good album, but not my vote for best....I just think that "Sports" is just a hilarious name for an album. It is if you think about it.

My real vote is Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins.

pink floyd was the matchbox 20 of their time

they have some good songs, but nowhere near such underrated rock bands of their time such as Black Sabbath, Rush, Neil Young

Cant_Be_Faded
04-12-2005, 06:41 PM
The only thing better than Rush is Fanta.

Or is it the other way around? No matter.

Creed and Pantera at the same time is kind of odd. It's like, you either like music videos where people are beating the crap out of each other, singing in graveyards, OR you like music videos of primadonnas on mountaintops letting wind blow their hair upwards and singing about their sacrifices to save the human race.

hell no
i dont like matchbox 20, in fact i think theyre the shittiest band of all time along with nickleback and goo goo dolls and crap like that

what i meant when comparing them to Floyd. is that they were wildly succesful and mainstream, with basic "music" and average lyrics

I think they're worthy of the legendary status. Dark Side of the Moon is one of the greatest rock albums of all time, Piper at the Gates of Dawn is an essential album of the Psychadelic era of British music, and The Wall is one of the quintessential concept albums of all time. They are probably the most established group in the "Prog Rock" genre.

Matchbox 20 is prepackaged focus group rock... it's "Adult Contemporary". Maybe Pink Floyd was wildly successful in the Seventies, but I think that has more to do with the fact that people had better taste in music back then. ;)

You're obviously using the same drugs that THEY did. :lol Pink Floyd is in no way a bubblegum pop band. Shit, they only EVER charted one single, Another Brick In the Wall part III. Floyd changed music for the ages they are still underrated to some extent in the states, they were bigger in the UK as for Floyd shirts you could say the same about any band shit that is worn.Dark side of the moon sold somewhere like i dunno 30+mill copies, and The wall sold like 23ish million most ever for a double cd album, I wish I was that overrated and so do most bands today.

but if yr gonna name 6, you gotta show a little versatility, right?

it leaves a little to be desired, but is funny becuase it seems to reveal that the guy just started listening to music here in the last few weeks, ya know?

lord willin ain't even close to hell hath no fury. lord willin was good, but it basically amounted to a few hot singles and a cd full of okay songs and okay beats. hell hath no fury has these guys' entire heart and soul on that album, and the neptunes have never put together an album full of beats that strong. just my opinion tho.

i don't really give a fuck what anybody thinks anyways. the day Reasonable Doubt dropped, it was a classic. The day Illmatic dropped, it was a classic. The day Black On Both Sides came out, it was a classic. People may not have recognized those albums as classics until years later, but the bottom line is that they were classics all along. Hell Hath No Fury is the exact same thing.

And anyways, I was throwing some shit out there that I liked. Hell Hath No Fury is a classic as far as I'm concerned, but A Tribe Called Quest - Low End Theory is the greatest hip-hop album of all time, there is no fuckin' debating that.

I'd definitely put illmatic ahead of reasonable doubt, but to me reasonable doubt is the best shit jay-z's ever done. some of his other albums are shit, others are okay or pretty good, but reasonable doubt is the only album of his that i can listen to without wanting to skip half the songs.

Dude his bashing of your picks was legit, and if I had 18 hours of free time a day to play elder scrolls I wouldn't care if i was ugly and/or fat, just as long as i had a computer that ran it to full capacity I would be happy.

And eminem is still gay.

Sorry, I didn't realize my personal opinions had to match those of everyone else. I'll take that into account next time you obtuse fuck.

And elder scrolls is fucking gay. You might as well be jacking off to pics of Daniel Radcliffe.

BLS - the only band I catch every time they come through Dallas. A night of beer/BLS at the Granada in Greenville is fucking badass... period.

I'm not sure. The last time they were here was this past November 19, so it probably won't be for another 8 months to a year at least. The last few times they were here they played at the Granada, which is a small venue and you can get right up on the stage in the pit.

It was a great show - we got right up to the stage and I caught a pic from Zakk while my gf got a shirt that he threw to her.

cbf - no comment on in case you didn't feel like showing up, or just none needed? it is just an EP but the versions of the songs on it kick ass.

That CD is tight, but my only knock on it was that except for Stigmata (which makes the CD completely worth it) alot of the songs don't sound very different from the studio recordings.

But With Sympathy is the shit, regardless of the BS Al tries to say about it now. Check this out, LOL. This song's been in my head all day.

that 'monosylab' guy has created an imposter "pussyface" account that he spelled "pussyface." (with a period added)

he got upset that I made fun of his listing eminem and 3 albums that came out within the past 6 months as "the greatest albums of all time." He also is very upset that I make fun of his adoration for "leo" dicaprio (no, i am not making this up, the guy is actually a self-professed leo superfan).

...looks like mono has taken a bit of a beating in this thread already so i'll let it slide.

projected list of monosylab's other picks for greatest album ever:
dr. dre- 2001 (his idea of giving it up to an "old school" classic)
modest mouse- the moon and antarctica
kings of leon
the strokes- is this it?
arcade fire-funeral
camron

Oh is that the case lil' puss-puss? You cut right to the core of me.

Or how about this: if one of my top albums was already being discussed, I didn't put it in my post. it's called bringing something new to the table.

I suppose you'll enjoy being the 100th person to put down Pet Sounds or Exile On Main Street though. What's that, you mean that Sgt. Peppers is a great album? YOU DON'T SAY!!! thank god you're the 93rd person to write that down for me!
i dont follow yr logic here.

first of all, i haven't listed anything yet.
2nd, there are plenty of albums that haven't been mentioned yet that came out more than a handful of weeks ago.

recent albums way better than anything you listed (maybe except kid a, yr overly cliched pic):

wilco- yankee hotel foxtrot.
madvillain- madvillainy
quisimoto- the unseen
mf doom- operation: doomsday

rap album last year better than clipse: ghostface killah, fishscale.

LOL talk about simply listing a "best of" from pitchfork.

What'd you do, just look up metacritic's top albums of the year and post a few up there? and no offense to doom and madlib, cuz they both have their moments, but i like my hip-hop tracks to have some semblance of structure to them. i don't care how good it is, when it's just random ass shit followed by more random ass shit, i just can't stay with it.

and yankee hotel foxtrot sucked. summerteeth was their best album by far. that's the downfall of most bands, forgetting how great they are at simply writing songs, and thinking they can be radiohead.

i dont follow yr logic here.

why am i gonna post "pet sounds" when pet sounds has already been cited a shitload of times on this thread already? everybody already fuckin knows about every great album by the beatles or the clash or public enemy or whatever the fuck else. if something was already cited, then what the hell am i gonna post the exact some fuckin album for? i was just throwing a few other things out there.

oh btw, since ur name's pussyface, does that mean that for you, talking is simply a lengthy series of queefs?

the pussyface (that's me) and the pussyface. (that's me too) are one and the same. our collective awesomeness at pwning n00bs on the internet is too good for one screen name alone.

here's some more albums that have far too much indie hype for me to enjoy, or else my indie street cred will lose a point or two:

anything by the shins
band of horses
tokyo police club
anything at all by the streets or dizzee rascal (waaaay too "indie" indie for my indie-ness)
arctic monkeys
the hold steady (don't even get me started on them, they're so fake-indie it's not even funny, my cd's have to be created in a dirty laundry room in wyoming and packaged in cheap cardboard for it to be indie enough for me super indie-ness)

great points man. on second thought, im going to have to rethink my picks and agree with you.

Eminem daring to lyrically take on such formidable foes as the insane clown posse and whining about N Sync, britney spears and whhaaaa my childhood whaaaa like an emo fag makes for timeless/unforgettable hiphop.

Madlib is a one tick pony who just throws shit against the wall at random to try to be unusual. he could learn a lot from producers like scott storch and the neptunes. stick to a formula, repeat, ya know?

i agree now, yankee hotel foxtrot was horrible, why do bands try to make albums or develop a sound? just repeatedly make alt country folk songs and put em up on itunes where I can download for .99 cent, no one wants to sit through an LP anyway, this is 2007. 'jesus etc' is not a good song.

also, leonardo dicaprio is cooler than bernard hopkins.
