I think his statement is fairly accurate though. You gotta have confidence to play the game, and I don't have any issue with a statement like that.

Blair is the Best,
He will beat the West,
Blair is a Beast,
He will take the Spurs to face the East,
Blair is nice and strong and round,
and he can get the mighty rebound,
Blair is not afraid of the Giants with alot of meat,
did you see him slay Hasheem Thabeat,
Blair may not have ACLs,
but do not fear game winners he nails,
Blair will wear #45,
and some day be on the cover of NBA Live,
Blair is driven to prove wrong those who doubt,
he will be taking the Championship route.

I'm not worried about him playing "decent" defense, not at this point. Besides being a fiery kinda guy, He's got a chip on his shoulder and the ability to continue improving. Some time in the system+his personality/skillset we desperately need should guarantee him a "decent" degree of success on both ends.

However, without another marquee C, I can see your point. He may need to step up more than he can imagine if we want another title.

What amazed me the most about Blair was his win record. Buford talked about in the presser. It was 116-15. He has always been in a winning situation. Buford emphasized the record was especially remarkable because he's played on some of the best teams in high school and college and was a significant contributor.

Go figure the guy is confident. I don't mind that at all.:toast

Heh... exactly.

Hell, I love the attitude. And I hope he's such a badass that he backs it up from the very first day. I just think that even though he's out of college, his education is just about to begin.

The big thing is that I don't think comments like that will serve him well with Pop. I think Gooden hurt his chances with Pop with a couple of comments, right after he got here. The comments didn't bother me, but I got the feeling that Pop didn't care for them. I could be wrong, but that's the way it looked at the time. I just want to see him on the court, kicking ass.

Great point: strong, heavy defenders are VERY DIFFICULT TO BACK DOWN: which means though taller defenders can shoot over the top, it usually be in the range or distance they are comfortable with.

That's a very underrated skill.

Not only shoot over them but adjust to being "nudged" backwards as thy take the shot. In the 2006 playoffs Malone "nudged" Duncan three feet backward pretending that he was releasing to go up court on the shot. Now it'll be Bynum's turn.

If Blair could somehow develop the Malone's "tricks" (not the dirty ones), and get the same allowance from the Officials, the Spurs would sweep the Lakers by a double digit average per game.

Certainly, that's too much to hope for.

the spurs will not sweep the lakers. no way - no how and i hate the lakers but you have to maintain a littlel intellectual honesty - blair will not make that much of a difference.. i love his heart and his game .. he was a steal.. his knees hold up and he will be solid. but with Artest - the Spurs are SOL. not a prayer. If you read my post, then you would see the liklihood of Blair getting the same "allowances" from the officials as Malone is about as likely as hitting the lottery.
